08 DEC 2007 - 7 Day Eastern Magic

I'm here--working very hard on my last big event for the year (and the only one that I am completely in charge of). It's a family-fun kind of day which is an opportunity for local charities to raise some money, local business people to gain a few customers, and local craftspeople and writers to "strut their stuff". It also offers public service providers a chance to show off some of their equipment and services. Once that's over (Sept. 8), I'll have a lot more free time and will be able to start really planning for this vacation. Right now I'm in "major last-minute panic" mode, but it will all be over in less than two weeks!

I also was ablte to make our reservations - going to try all 3 Palo experiences and made our appointment for the mud fight at the spa. I did not see the couples villa package this time - does anyone know if they have taken that away or was are all of them already booked?

How were you able to make your ressies more than 90 days out if you are in a Cat 10??? Give us your secret! :surfweb:

Ok I keep coming up with questions!

I read some posts where people talk about meeting their table mates on the first night - is this common?

Our first cruise we were at a table by ourselves. I would love to be with some other people - especially people with children. How do you arrange this?

We are on the early seating this cruise (wanted to have tried both before locking in for the repo cruise - we already have early on the Repo and it is the hardest to get so I am sure I can swap out if I need to maybe in May)

You need to have your reservations linked to someone else that you want to share a table with. There may be some DISers on this board that would love to be seated with you.

MrsMork, I was reading through some older posts and noticed on DrHug posts that you knew each other 1 month when you were married? Congrats on your upcoming 40th!

Thanks. Yes, people still wonder if this will last! ;) We knew each other less than a month, I was 17 and still in high school, we married on Friday night and he left for VietNam on Sunday. All the cards stacked against us. BUT we met at Disneyland, had our first kiss on the bridge in front of the castle and the MAGIC has remained thru the 40 years.

Our severe weather is over for now. Thursday we had to park our cars four blocks away and walk throught the flooded streets to get home. We were able to go back a few hours later and bring our cars home. No power for 7 hours means no sump pump for 7 hours. Driving home in that storm reminded me of Hurricane Jeanne at WDW. Except hurricanes don't have thunder and lighning. But all is well now.

Glad to hear it is clearing up there abit. We were watching on the news and it did not look fun!

A five year boy who lives down the street from us was riding his bike yesterday and bumped the turkey fryer and is burned over 70% of his body. The Flight for Life helicopter came and moved him to Loyola Hospital. Very tragic. Just shows how fast a good day becomes a horrible one.

Oh my! What a tragedy! We have found that life can change in an instant is certainly true. Last week our DD found her MIL dead in the bathroom. She was well and seemed healthy the night before. Just an instant! My brother's wife also fell this year and wound up losing her leg, being in the hospital for months and then to rehab for we don't know how long. Just an instant, he kissed her goodby, went to work and when he got home that evening their whole life had changed. Moral is....enjoy every single minute together. :grouphug:

We were in La Crosse over the weekend, my brother was married there to his darling new wife, and my sister and I were both in the wedding, as well as my parents. It rained on the drive up - about 3.5 hour drive - and when we got there the sun came out. The Mississippi was very high in the area. On Sunday we drove across into Minneapolis and South along the river. It's very pretty country there, lots of bluffs and sandstone cliffs and hills. We saw quite a few remnants of mudslides, and two completely destroyed houses that washed down the side of a bluff. Lots of damage in that area from what I hear.

JsMom2, I have been reading through some of the older posts and noticed that you read INVISIBLE PREY. I love all his books. I have read them all, he is one of my favorite authors.
:grouphug: for your daughter and all children who have parents serving our country.

I'm about to start another Tami Hoag book, she's great too. I also love Julie Garwood (her more recent stuff, not the European romance stories).

Thanks for the hug, I'll pass it on to DD!

Wow, I hadn't heard about the storms. Glad everything is okay now!

That has got to be the sweetest, most romantic story I've ever heard!:) :flower3:
