08 DEC 2007 - 7 Day Eastern Magic

I'm glad DIS is back too! My boss is out of the office for the day (testifying in court as an expert witness), and all of the arrangements are made for our big town event on Saturday, and I have to sit here looking out the window and watching the beautiful weather.

We haven't quite decided about excursions. Jim doesn't swim or snorkle, and we really don't lay out on a beach very often (skin cancer issues) so we'll be doing some land-based excursions. We aren't spa people, so we don't have to think about that, we don't have kids with us so there's no Flounder's Reef to deal with. We'll need to get our Palo dinner reservation set up. I guess I'll sit here and spend some time thinking about all of this stuff so I can get everything booked at the earliest moment!

7 more working days until our vacation. I really need time away. A migraine started at lunch time. That is my signal that I am pushing too hard to get everything done. Hopefully I can make it through this day. The other secretary hasn't worked a full day or week since last September. (Her husband is ill) I really need a break.

I'm sorry you're having a bad day. Hope you're feeling better soon. I'm so excited about your upcoming cruise. We want to hear all about it when you get back!

I don't think I've done any spa appointments on the Magic on 3 prior cruises. But this time I'm planning on 3 visits! (One reason I'm already putting money in my onboard account.) Jasmine and I are doing Parasailing at Castaway Cay, and booked the Castaway Cay Getaway package. Since CC is probably the only port that we'll go ashore, I wanted to make the most of it.

I'm doing Palo Wed night with my DSis and her DF.

My DSis can book ressies on Sunday, so I told her I'd do it for her since she's on the West Coast, and will be asleep when they open up. Do they still open at 3am Eastern Time?

Our upcoming vacation is not a cruise. But hurricanes permitting it will be a relaxing one. We will be in Daytona Beach from Sept 15-25. We meet the same people there every year. We won't cruise until 12/8/07.

We will be booking our excursions on Saturday also. Not sure which ones yet. We do not go to the spa and have no kids to sign up. The one time we went to Palo (our first cruise) I was very seasick. Every time I came back to the table our waiter had another glass of Ginger Ale waiting for me.

OK, now I want apple pie. Bakers Square usually does my pie baking for me.;)

We love Bakers Square! We do not have one here, but when we go to DL we always eat at the one south on Harbor Blvd at least once per visit.

I'm pretty sure it is midnight Eastern time now. That would be 9 pm for us west coast folks. Saturday is the day, correct?? Or is it Sunday?? Help me here! :surfweb:

Sorry, I was reading these too quickly. It's Pfishgirl who's cruising soon.

Hope your migraine is gone!

Jasmine was sick at our first character breakfast. In between each character she'd sit and nibble at some crackers the waiter brought, but as soon as the photographers and characters showed up she'd sit up and pose with a big smile on her face. :)

I kept asking if she wanted to leave, but she refused to go!

No problem! I wish I did have another cruise planned.
I took a nap after work yesterday and when I woke up my migraine was gone. I only get one every few years so I am lucky (while I was pregnant with my daughter I had about 5 a week). Thanks.

We're thinking about Palo for Wednesday night too, but honestly, we don't really care! We don't want to do it the first night because we want to check out our severs, but after that, we're good.

We really wouldn't even be terribly disappointed if we didn't go for dinner. We really enjoyed it, but we enjoyed the brunch so much more! I think it's because we do go out for dinner alone frequently, but a daytime meal for just the two of us is a very rare occasion!

I may snorkle at Castaway Cay. I don't feel so guilty about leaving Jim on the beach there. We did it together once, but he just didn't enjoy himself. He's much happier sitting in a chair under a tree, sipping an adult beverage and reading (or sometimes napping). I also thought about renting bikes, but I'll decide about that once we get there and we see just how tired we are at that point in our vacation. We both walk a lot (I do at least two miles every day), and may just choose to walk around and take tons of pictures!

:goodvibes I'm glad you are feeling better. :goodvibes I get really bad headaches if I am dehydrated. - Jennifer

Bill finally got his apple pie w/vanilla ice cream last night. :cool1: As expected, it was yummy. I even had a piece, even though I have been trying not to have sweets. I've been eating pretty much nothing but fruits and vegetables for the past five months. That is why I have to get the B12 shot weekly. :scared1: That pie sure was good, but I felt ill after. So, I know not to do that again for awhile! :sad2: - Jennifer

I try not to eat sweets either... I try to avoid sugar as much as possible, and replace it with protein.

Anyway, I'm not a big vegetable guy either, I'll eat salads, and potatoes, and raw carrots, but that's about it. I tried V8's new V-Fusion the other day, and it's yummy. It's a blend of V8 and Fruit juice, and it's tasty. So I'm drinking a glass of that a day now.

I love sweets! and unfortunately it show! :lmao:

OH, I love them too, and it shows. But it's been good for me to switch and avoid as much as possible. I switched from regular soda to diet, and now I'm pushing it if I have two diet sodas in a week. Water and coffee (ok, and Beer) are my drinks now ;)

pooh: Me too! That is why I have to clean/flush out my system. I never met a chocolate I didn't like. :cloud9: My favorite is really dark chocolate that makes me sneeze when I eat it. Bill knows my weakness and has been very supportive. I have a "goal" for the cruise and want to be able to have fun without worrying about what I eat. I've lost 35 lbs these past few months. It has been a slooooooooooow process. But, worth it! I laugh when I see the commercial with the guy and woman (cartoon) and they are both trying to lose weight and he loses weight at a much faster rate. That is Bill and I. He has lost the same amount of weight as me, but he eats out every Friday at work and eats carbs! It is not fair!!!!!! As much as people say it isn't about the food on a cruise, you do eat more on a cruise than normally. I can't remember the last time we had an appetizer, then soup or salad, main course and dessert at a regular restaurant. Only on a cruise! popcorn::

Jennifer, oh dark, dark, dark chocolate! Yummer! :thumbsup2 Congratulations on the 35 lbs. Wow! I just went for my annual check up and, yep, I gained my usual 10 lbs this year. :sad2: But, I sit for 10-11 hours at work and then sit at home for another couple before bedtime, so what do I expect? :confused3 We usually don't gain on the cruise because we are so much mor active than is usual for us. We take the stairs not the elevator most of the time (not for health reasons, but because the elevators can be so crowded and we need to get to the next activity!:rotfl2: ) We even did the 10 day cruise and did not gain while we were gone, but after getting home I did gain my usual 10 for the year. :upsidedow

I've been very impressed with Bill. When I first met him, he would never have thought of drinking a diet soda or eating vegetables. He has come full circle and wouldn't think of drinking a regular soda now and is more adventurous when it come to trying new food. He loves sushi now! However, I am still the only one in my house that will eat brussels sprouts. :lmao:

:thumbsup2 Congratulations yourself on not gaining while on a cruise. Since our stateroom is on deck 8, we're hoping to use the stairs a lot for the fun on deck 9. Last time Cole still wasn't walking (that is another story) and he was in the stroller a lot.
A warning for anyone that has never cruised on DCL: The elevators are small and slow!
Bill was on the elevator with either Stitch or Chip (he can tell you) and he said it was a tight. He had to be careful where he put his hands! :lmao:
