Sign me up too. I plan on visiting La Casa Del Habano in St Marteen. http://www.lacasadelhabano.cu/casahabano_i.asp is their website. I will probably have a couple on the ship... I've never had cognac before, so I'll have to give that a try too. I do like brandy mixed drinks ;)
Are you able to bring "Cubans" onboard to smoke while at sea? If so, that might be something we'd at least try once.

- Jennifer

Dh is also wondering if anyone is interested in sharing a cigar. We are (vehement) non-smokers but dh considers sharing a cigar an occasion, and doesn't bother unless he has like-minded company. Anyone?

I'll run it by Bill. But, I assume the answer will be "No". The last time he smoked a cigar, he was almost green in the face! My Dad offered him a cigar and he inhaled really BIG and almost choked to death. Poor guy. :sad2:

Poor guy. He could come and sit with us. We could talk about our best first person shooter games ;)

I believe that it's ok on the ship. There might be some troubles coming back into the US, but by then I'll have the identifying bands off of them, so there won't be a problem. I don't know prices yet either, so that's really going to determine if I try to bring any home with me.

:)

We do a pizza night too... more often than not, it's on sub bread, like pizza breads. We do make our own crust occasionally too, and now that I have a Stand Mixer, we'll be doing home made crust a lot more often. The kids love to help with the toppings too.
I became a true baking enthusiast when Bill bought me my beloved Kitchen Aid mixer. It even has a hook for dough. It is great!

Wait until you've been DISing for several years ...... it's get worse. :surfweb: :guilty: :upsidedow

Yes, NS is Nova Scotia, eastern Canada, in a time zone further east than Eastern, the Atlantic time zone.

Do you get called a "Newfie"?

Our Music Director is from that area and everyone calls her a "Newfie". She even refers to herself like that.

I would need my DS for that conversation. Even at 34 years old he is the king of First Person Shooters. :thumbsup2 I watched him work through a new game on his xBox 360 in about two days. :3dglasses

Oh that's funny, I am a born Newf, though now we are Nova Scotians. (Newf=Newfoundlander, even further east and in yet another time zone from Nova Scotia.) As one of my 9th grade Canadian geography students said to me years ago "another one of those island places..." Yeah, Canada's littered with 'em...:lmao: Beware, I used to teach high school, I might break into a lesson plan. ;)

Yes, you just can't bring them back thru customs. We got a Cuban on one cruise. Wasn't as good as some Dominican's we have had. However, we don't know much about which Cuban brand to buy either.

We just got notified by DU that we are getting ANOTHER $396 refund! We already got one refund of $199. :woohoo: :woohoo: :yay: Boy am I ever excited!! :lmao:

Dh's BIL had a cigar shop for a few years, actually sold Cubans to American cruisers when they visited ports hereabouts (perfectly legal here of course). Anyway, BIL could probably recommend Cubans...me, I'd be more interested in the chocolate recommendations...

DH is planning on going there too. A box will run you about $400. He is thinking of getting a mixed 10 pack or so. He says our DD will be our mule. Honestly if you take the bands off and do not have a ton of them they are not going to care. I am not advocating doing anything illegal, but I know he will not be declaring if he brings any back.

Yes, I wasn't planning on bringing a LOT back. What's in a box, 25? 50? I could see spending about 200 or so, and I won't be declaring either.

When I was young, my grandfather would smoke cigars all the time.. He gave me one to play with and I chewed on the end.. It tasted like cherries :cutie: Little did I know how much one could cost
