Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving. We had a great time at DLRP! For those who requested pins, I picked up the Disneyland Paris 15th Anniversary pin. They were 6 Euro which equates to about $9 each.

I'll upload some pics in a bit.

I've been going to WDW almost 25 years now and I thought that I knew just about everything about it :confused3 What is this?

Thanks Krisann.

When I signed in on my cruise reservation I went to the place where you can order stateroom gifts (cheese trays, choc. covered strawberries and drinks, keepsake boxes, etc.) and one of the choices at the top was Holiday Items so I checked it out. They have things to decorate the room with (like the bon voyage or happy birthday sets), Small Christmas trees for your room, snowmen cups and containers filled with goodies, etc.

But when I looked closer they were only good for sailings starting on the 15th of December.

Never heard of this. Ds hates to take pills, so that could be a good thing...do you remember what it's called?

I will try to find it today and let you know.

glad you had a great time! We did not get to go when we were in Paris this past summer but I will get there one day!

Welcome home :yay:

I did not request one but if you do wind up with an extra pin I'll buy it from you. :thumbsup2

Well I finally have a few minutes to sit down, and fill you in on DLRP...

We were able to leave work/school early on Wednesday and were checked in, and in the park by 4pm. The Disneyland Hotel is absolutely gorgeous. It really does feel like a castle. And the room was huge by European standards. The 2 nights at the hotel included 3 days of Park Hopper tickets and a full English breakfast buffet every morning. And you can't beat the location, we had Disneyland Park, Disney Studios, and Disney Village right at our doorstep.

We were able to catch the Dreams parade, go on the Indiana Jones Temple of Doom roller coaster, Thunder Mountain, and Snow White the first day, as well as watch the Candleabration on Main Street, and do some shopping. The Candleabration included the 15 year anniversary celebration and Christmas. And they lit the castle in different colors, it was beautiful.

Then we hit Disney Village for more shopping. Jasmine bought a Scrooge McDuck hat that has him holding a Euro instead of a dollar. Then she went swimming in the hotel pool, and then we ate a late dinner at Planet Hollywood. It's always a treat for us to get American-type food!

We started the day with the breakfast buffet at the hotel. Donald was outside the restaurant for a Meet and Greet. Part of the hotel is inside the park, and we had a table with a view of the Main Street Train Station. After breakfast we hit the Disney Studios, and our first ride was Crush's Coaster - big mistake! Jasmine loved it, but to me it felt like someone put me in a spinning teacup and then threw it on Space Mountain. I kept my breakfast down, but I was ruined for any more roller coasters for the day. Even the Rockin' Roller Coaster, which I love at the Studios in WDW. We did see the Moteur Cars stunt show which we've never seen in FL, which was really cool, and also the backlot tour. Overall the park is pretty small, but their Tower of Terror is opening in January, and they have a Stitch attraction opening in March. We were able to do all the rides, see some shows and the parade, and were out right before the park closed. I love going to the parks in the offseason! We'd wanted to see the Buffalo Bill dinner show at Disney Village but they were closed on Thursday. It looks like fun though and we'll be sure to make ADRs next time.

We opted for Rain Forest Cafe, and had a bit of an incident when I discovered I didn't have enough cash to pay the bill. :scared1: I'd been using my DLRP charge card all day in the park, and didn't have my real credit card with me. I had 34 Euros, and the bill was 38. The waiter was very nice about it, and just asked to keep my hotel charge card while I went to get the money. He had to let his Manager know about it though, and she was very "French" about the whole thing.

On the way back to Rain Forest Cafe, some French soldiers with machine guns passed us. I told DD that "maybe they're looking for us." She was all "shhh act normal." Then she said, "they must not be looking for us, we've never been here before." She as getting all into it, "oh look they have a Rainforest Cafe here, let's go inside and give them some money, not because we owe them, but just because we want to."

Then we went back to the hotel for more swimming. The hotel pool looks like a pool you'd find in a castle. It's pretty, and elegant looking. I thought maybe the kids wouldn't be impressed, but it didn't seem to slow any of them down. Plus they had a cabinet full of kickboards, floaties and other flotation stuff that the kids could go in and get to play with.

Here's a photo of the outside of Crush's coaster that I thought came out kind of neat.

This morning we packed up after breakfast, and barely made it out the door by checkout. It was so sad to leave our pretty room.

We left our luggage downstairs and went to Disneyland Park for the day. Between the short lines, fastpasses, and the extra fast passes we got from the hotel, we pretty much walked on every ride. Jasmine got to drive her own car at Autopia for the first time! In the afternoon we went to see the Lion King show, and found that it was already full. We decided to eat lunch at the restaurant next door and discovered that their tables are actually nose bleed level seats for the Lion King show! We also saw Mickey's Magical Wonderland show which was awesome. They had a bit of everything, characters, ice skating, live horses, etc. One of the things I liked in Fantasyland was Alice's maze. At the end of the maze was a castle, that provided a neat view!

By 5:30 we were ready to hit the road, and decided not to wait until the 7pm parade. I planned to stop on the way home, but the drive went by really quickly and we got home around 9pm.

We really had a great time there, and came home more refreshed than tired. We're planning on going back around the same time next year.

The Disneyland Hotel is actually over the entrance to Disneyland Park.

Ok, the board is lagging me out. :badpc: Just wanted to say Wendy I loved the TR! Have previously had no interest in DLP but it sounds so...do-able, and less overwhelming that WDW. Or maybe that's just b/c you two are such experts! :worship:

Loved all the pictures. Dh took one look at Jasmine and said "Liam's going to love her". Since he was pre-verbal he's had this way of finding the pretty girls. They have "learning buddies" at school when kids from higher grades come and buddy up with the younger kids for reading, etc. When the gr 5's come to Liam's class his teacher tells me he usually manages to end up with a collection of big girls "looking after" him. :rotfl: (Yeah, buddy, those puppy dog eyes will work right through your 20's... )

Glad you had such a good time. :goodvibes

great report! Thanks for sharing your wonderful time with us - and now I know what Jasmine looks like - I will show the picture to my daughter so we will know you when we see you!

Can't believe in 2 weeks we will all be on the cruise! and in 8 days I pick up hubby at the airport!

Thanks again for sharing!

Kewl!! Thanks so much!!

Wendy, thanks for the great TR and pics!! Jasmine is beautiful, now I know who to look for so give you the money for the lanyard and pin!! :goodvibes

I am so glad you guys had such a great time. Less then 2 weeks to go!

Wendy:

Thanks for the great report! It looks like you and Jasmine had a fabulous time! DLRP is on my list of places to see when I finally make it to Europe!

Beth

Wendy, thank you very much for sharing your pictures and a great trip report. It looks like you both had a great time. Jasmine is so cute and she looks like she really had fun.
Maybe we should look into Disneyland Paris for next year instead of Disneyland California.
Thanks again!

ok I know what I am going to ask can be debated very much but I wanted to ask here on our group instead of on the main board for that very reason.

I have read that jeans are allowed for dinner on causal nights in the dining room. I have read all the issues people have for and against this and on our last cruise we did not wear jeans at all to dinner BUT this time I am considering it.

Here is why - we all have coordinating Christmas sweaters that I want us to wear one night and really want pictures taken in them BUT the only bottoms that we all have the same are jeans - nice jeans - no holes, tears, etc. - and I always have a picture like that taken each year.

So will I ask here do you all think we will feel totally out of place wearing nice jeans and Christmas sweaters to one of the casual night dinners?

Thanks

I haven't been on the cruise since they changed the wording to allow jeans in the dining rooms, but I'm guessing that since the docs say it's allowed, a lot of people probably do now. I'm sure someone else can chime in with what they've seen. :)

My thoughts are, if Disney says it's okay, then it's okay. As someone else once said, it's like going to a party and abiding by the host/hostess's wishes for dress code. As far as feeling out of place, I have no idea. Like I said, I haven't been since the "change." But if you're concerned about it, you could always plan to wear pants/trousers the first night to "check things out" and then the jeans later in the week. Oooooor... you could also have the pictures made at some point with the jeans at one of the photo ops and then change for dinner. Though that might be a lot of hassel.

Anyway, I'm rambling. I say, if you wanna wear jeans, wear jeans :)

Wendy,

Thanks so much for the trip report and the pictures! I had to laugh when I saw you guys in coats, hats, and gloves. We went to DLP in January and almost froze! I have the funniest picture of my Dad (who's a big guy and bald) in this too-small ski hat type thing that he had to buy somewhere just to conserve body heat. :rotfl:

Hi Krisann. I have no experience for you so can't help with your question, though personally I can't imagine objecting to a cute matching family!!

I have a question too. I'm wondering how cosy the staterooms are...I'm guessing they might be stuffy so we'd want to carry summer-weight jammies. OTOH, maye it's a situation where the AC makes it cool? :confused3
