We were invited to 3 different places for Thanksgiving.. 4 counting Angie's invite
Where were you?? We had the places set for you and everything!!
Hi! Cooking two turkeys, stuffing, mashed potatoes, a whipped sweet potato dish, wonton sausage appetizers, gravy, and rolls for about 30 people. We're eating early because the Packers play at 12:30 and I am going to watch them, and NOT be cooking.
So, Jason...YOU do the Thanksgiving cooking at your house??? Gravy, whipped potatoes and all?
Good Evening!
This cooking thing is for the birds. I have never made Thanksgiving before and WOW is it a lot of WORK.
I think I am doing okay. I did drop the Turkey though.
Going to try to catch up.

Last year I caught the oven on fire! Decided the turkey was done enough at that point!
We are watching the Jets and Cowboys game. We ate and had the kitchen cleaned up and in the dishwasher within an hour and 15 minutes.
I did 6 dishwasher loads. My clean up help did not come through like usual.

THe last two loads I did on Friday morning.
We went to Best Buy after lunch. It was not as bad as I expected.
I was looking at a small Canon camera for DW but came away with a Fugi digital camera instead. It is 12megapixel
That is more than my Canon XTi and it is only about the size of my palm.
I hope it helps her take more pictures.
Brack, Dennis bought his Canon 40D.
Oh and if anyone needs to know - the total count - adults and children is 88. I needed to know because I am putting my gifts in little christmas lunch bags with tags as to if it is a girl, boy, adult, baby, etc. to keep myself sane with this many items!
oh and I have to go buy the magnetic hooks to hang them from! Oh I really do need to go out shopping this week!
Our gift are generic...for the family stuff.
The stockings will hang from the hook on the fish by the door. No magnet needed for them.
Angie, I think you mentioned a reading of 'Twas The Night Before Christmas, is it the same night as the tree lighting? I don't want to miss either. Any chance they also read Polar Express?
They are not the same night. Tree lighting is early in the cruise. Maybe first night. Mrs Clause reads late in the cruise. Just check the navigators.
I have read that jeans are allowed for dinner on causal nights in the dining room. I have read all the issues people have for and against this and on our last cruise we did not wear jeans at all to dinner BUT this time I am considering it.
So will I ask here do you all think we will feel totally out of place wearing nice jeans and Christmas sweaters to one of the casual night dinners?
Thanks
You host (
DCL) says jeans are fine. You will not feel out of place. We do not take or wear jeans simply because we are in the Caribbean and it is quite warm and jeans are heavy to pack. DrHug wears khakis because they are cooler and lighter to pack. 50 lbs is not very much if I put in 4 or 5 pair of adult (ok LARGE adult!

) jeans.
I have a question too. I'm wondering how cosy the staterooms are...I'm guessing they might be stuffy so we'd want to carry summer-weight jammies. OTOH, maye it's a situation where the AC makes it cool?
We hve never found them stuffy. But as someone else said, just tell your stateroom host if you are not comfortable.
LOL Julie. Here's reason # 231: with little ones it's dicey to sleep in the buff anytime! Dh is still grumbling about that particular aspect of parenthood. (TMI??

)
When oldest DD (that would be Sweetpea who is sailing with us) was 2 she told a waitress in a very crowded restaurant that "Mommy does not wear jammies"

Who would have thought at 2!!!

Mommy started wearing jammies!
Robby has a similar story with my dad, his DFIL, that he'll have to share after a few drinks as well. Needless to say, it sounds like we've all had a few "Kodak Moments".
DrHug has a great FIL one also!

We will have to get together and share these stories!
