We are staying at Animal Kingdom the two nights before the cruise. Do you think it would be really bad if I don't take the kids to the parks? We are driving over to watch the shuttle launch and it will take all of Thursday. Then, maybe we could hangout at the hotel and DTD?

We're not going to the parks either, arriving TH and heading out for the shuttle, shopping and DTD on Friday. Hoping to see some of the resort decorations.

I give up, I do know that whatever you call it, I spend about six hours a day teaching my DS.
I don't think these women know they could be dising (sp) instead.

Lord, you don't drop him off, there's no other adult there...you're homeschooling. I hate hair-splitting!

The first time DH heard the words I really was able to translate. :scared1:
I think I hear banjos...I had better paddle faster.

:lmao:

Funny story about that here, too...a canoe in a wilderness area in Tampa, some gators, some boys on the shore...

Ohanna the waiter never refilled our drinks or brought us our food... we had to stop someone walking by and he was awesome (refilled our tea, brought us meat,- we gave him a good tip :) ) and as soon as the other guy brought us our meat the waiter brings dessert... hello he never brought us our main dish but brings us ice cream.....:confused3.

I chopped a bit indiscriminately there...we had dreadful service at Ohana dinner in June, so maybe it's THEM! Same thing, lots of stuff then...nothing. :confused3 We love their b'fast though. WCC in Feb last year was fine, but not what I was expecting. Jan/Feb we had some crappy weather but it was worth it for the lack of CROWDS! :thumbsup2 We also got a few special little "dreams" like free popcorn at MK and free ice cream at MGM... popcorn:: :mickeybar

I just got a message about a friend. Her DS(5) was limping on Monday, took him to the Dr. on Tuesday, to Children's Hospital on Wednesday, leukemia confirmed, chemo started on Friday. I can't even imagine. I guess the only good thing is that the doctors started treatment so soon.

Really, really sorry to hear this. Wishing them all the best.

I did have melanoma scare with DD(4) this past January. It took about four weeks from the time we new there was a problem until the operation and negative results. It was the worst time of my life and she was OK in the end.

I just had to tell someone and all my friends in town can't talk because we just cry.

Glad your scare turned out ok.

For your friend's son, awwww  I hope he pulls through. My DW's friend's son was a little over 1 year old when they found out that he had a brain tumor. He went numb on the left side of his body, and couldn't walk or crawl. His left arm curled up and he couldn't use it or his leg. They went to a couple of specialists who said he had only months to live and that it was inoperable. Then she heard about a doctor in Atlanta, and went to him. Owen is almost 5 now, long past the other doctors life expectancy, and has been cancer free on all his screenings since that Atlanta trip. The hell they both went through is terrible, but it appears he will have a normal life.

I hope the best for your friend and her DS.

Good mornging all!

DH just woke up and asked about our trip. I think he is finally getting excited. He is now planning on going down early with us to see the Space Shuttle. I told him we could take the computer and he can work from the car.:cool1: At least he will be with us and I won't have to drive down. If he drives in saves at least an hour and a half. I drive the speed limit. My 60+ mom says I drive annoyingly slow and recently I was honked at by a granny on a motorcycle.:rotfl:

I love the doctors we had in Atlanta. They were so caring and knowledgeable. They really seemed to love their job. I am so glad to hear your friend's son is doing well. I think it is awful when doctors don't give hope. Anyhting is possible.

I understand COMPLETELY!!! Robby and I have lived in the south our entire lives and I have such a southern accent. Robby actually has tried to "lose" his, so his comes and goes. He told someone one time that he was from Arkansas and they said, "Really???" :lmao:

I live in the south (Tennessee) BUT am from West Virginia (I miss it terribly) - we moved to middle tennessee when I was 12 and I moved to West Tennessee when I graduated from college at 22. Now I have lived in Tennessee longer than anywhere and where I live now people say "you're not from here are you?" when I talk, and then when I go "home" to West Virginia they say "listen to that southern accent!" So I don't really "belong" to either place based on the way I talk :(

Heck Yea...
Especially the Banana bread on Pirate night :woohoo:

I think it is available other nights too - my daughter LOVED it and our assistant server Sarah from England - who we loved - went and got it for her each night. She is picky eater sometimes but LOVED that.

we are going to the launch too. Need to buy my tickets today - still trying to figure out if we are eating with an astronaught or just doing the tickets.

I think I told y'all (you) I learn (homeschool) my yunguns (children). I belong to a Yahoo group for GVA, the virtual school my son attends. The women in this group are crazy. They have been arguing for two days now on whether we "homeschool" or "coach" our children. They argue that since we are enrolled in a public school we can't say we are homeschooling. It is so bad that the director of the school started posting to try to settle everyone down. He didn'dt say if we are homeschooling or not. I give up, I do know that whatever you call it, I spend about six hours a day teaching my DS.

we "homeschool" but in Tennessee only people who register through the local systems are considered homeschooling (this is not an organized thing like yours - just to say "hey this is what we are doing" BUT for people like me who are connected through a program we are registered with according to the state of TN we are in a private school and we are told to identify ourselves this way. It just so happens that our private school is at our home (or on a disney ship :) ) - and when you get right down to it anybody who homeschools is a "private school" lol - you regulate who goes there, what is taught, etc. - just a very very small private school. :)

and I should say that the program we are registered with is the actual "private school" per say but we are a satelite classroom at our home and parents are "volunteers" for the school. If that makes any sense.

If your child is home, and you spend 6 hours a day teaching him, then you are home schooling. DUH..what is their problem??

Hey!! I think she really DID go to Mc Donalds.. without us..

Nope..did not..went to bed. Our nearest McD's was closed, and I wasn't leaving my warm house to do a Wendy's run. Espcially since this one always screws up the DT orders, and I being high mtn, only like Cheese on my burgers..well from waht they offer on burgers. I don't do ketcup, pickles, raw onions, tomatoes, mustard, lettuce..etc...

The weather was awesome, we went to BB wednesday but were wearing sweaters and gloves Thursday... I have no idea why the bad servers :confused3 at LTT our food was ice cold by the time the waiter actually gave it to us, never brought us our drinks... Our WC waiter never brought us our salad and we asked for more corn and he finally brought it around as we were leaving... never got refills here either.... after being in the parks all day we drink a lot of water and they bring you your first glass and never came back..:confused3 ... The best place we went to was teppanyaki.... The chef was GREAT very entertaining the food was and the service was A+. Crystal palace was good too but we went right before closing and they closed one side of the food area and never refilled what they were offering but that was our fault for being late....

Wow, this bad. DH basis alot of service on beverage refills. He does ALOT of diet coke. The waiters that sometimes bring 2 glasses at a time, or constantly refill, get really really good tips!!

When service as above happens, we go to the mgmt. I mystery shopped for a few years and did lots of restaurants, and know what high standards the management expects, and now I expect. We also go to mgmt to tell of excpetional service.

In August on the dining plan we went to Ragland Road (a first time for us) and we had the kids at Simba's Clubhouse. We had a FABULOUS server. We asked him if he gets the full 18% or was his tipped based on the negotiated lesser amount. He said the lesser amount. We gave him a much higher tip in cash, and went out of our way to find the manager and tell him about our exceptional service.

Does anyone know how to get rid of a rough patch of skin on an ankle? Right on the bone that sticks out on the side.. It's only on my left ankle and I think I have tried every cream and lotion that Avon sells..

:confused3

Buy a cream with cortisone in it. We use that on DS, and DH, they both have excema (spelling??), and it heals really well.

Ok, so I just had to post this: party: :bday: party: Today is Mickey and Minnie's official Birthday!!! They are 79 years old!!! Today in 1928 is when Steamboat Willie came out!! Soooo.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICKEY AND MINNIE!!!!! :woohoo: :yay:
