I have made some extra cruisin' money selling H.M. shoes and purses on ebay though :woohoo: That stuff sells GREAT! :thumbsup2
I am definately not denying you your eBay profitability...I love eBay! And selling some HM shoes and purses doesn't hurt anyone...jacking concert tix up by FIVE TIMES face value is just wrong.

I totally agree!

Donna, I'm glad you got tickets for you and your DD :thumbsup2

Seriously...what will I do when this cruise is over? What will I do with the hours I am on this board? :rotfl2:

What are HM shoes and Purses. What ever they are, they sound a lot better than the diesel truck I am selling. Anyone interested?

Speaking of eBay. We did some speculating on one of the "Top Ten" toys for Christmas. At least it is not the one that has been recalled. Now though we are thinking of returning them as I still see them in stores, but we are close to Black Friday so we do not know what we are going to do yet.

So what's your ebay name - I sell some also, very very part time.

You sounded bitter earlier so thanks.

Our ebay id is: learningathome

We mostly sell Disney Pins - we go so often and are always trading, so we started selling some on ebay to help support our habit :rotfl2:

My DH's time on his job is uncertain - we're hoping between my company and an ebay biz that we can eventually bring him home fulltime. Of course that would mean we would need to curb our Disney habit, so we could put the money we make into paying bills :rolleyes1

The biggest problem we see with the possibility of being self-employed is the lack of good health insurance. We had a high-deductible policy for several years, as that was all we could afford and his employer didn't offer anything else. 1.5 yrs ago our youngest had to have corrective foot surgeries (one on each foot - 6 mos apart) and we had to pay a $5500 deductible. :scared1:

With his current, albeit temporary position, we have GREAT health insurance. I don't think I want to go back to the way it was :sad2:

This whole Hannah Montana thing bugs me. As with all popular concert events, ticket brokers and scalpers buy the tix and resell them WAAAY above face value. Let's be honest, this isn't The Police (which I went to see!) whose average fan has the bucks to spend...these are KIDS and their poor parents.

I wanted to buy as many tix as I could for the show near me in Albany, NY, just so I could give them at face value to some poor kid whose parents can't afford a $500 ticket.

I realize this country is built on the capitalist ideal...but this just takes it too far and kids suffer.

(When I run for Prez, this will be one of my "hotbutton" issues, along with making another Federal holiday between President's Day and Memorial Day):cool1:

The answer to this is for parents to stand firm and refuse to pay those prices. If the ticket brokers/scalpers cannot sell them then they won't buy them. Those poor parents who can't afford $500 for tickets to a concert just need to say "sorry we cannot afford to go". I really think a kid missing a Hannah concert is not really suffering. Not having money for breakfast is suffering. There are lots of things we adults would like to do that we cannot afford (round the world cruise for DrHug and I) and learning the lesson as a child that you cannot do everything you want is maybe a good thing.

Amber that is the funniest s*?! I have ever seen (sorry for the language but OMG it was sooooooo funny)

:badpc: I agree! :lmao: I've wanted to throw this computer out the window many times. My favorite is when the man jumps over the desk because the other guy kept throwing things at him and the other men are just sitting there on their phones like nothing is happening. popcorn::

:sad2: No Hannah Montana concert for us this evening. Since this concert is so successful, I am sure she'll be back again. $$$$$$$$$$$ Bill told me to buy DD5 a concert DVD and she can watch that over and over again.:lmao: DD5 had the BEST time at the Gwen Stefani concert this past summer. So, I know she is itching to go to another concert. Her next favorite is Fergie. Maybe, if she comes in concert. I'll surprise DD5 with tickets to that. Yes, my 5 going on 15 year old daughter likes Gwen Stefani and Fergie. :rolleyes1

:thumbsup2 You sound like Bill.

With that, I still haven't fed the kids. We had a late lunch. So, I'm off for now.

Evening All! :goodvibes

Am I the only one in a slight panic mode?

As of now I have two 6 foot tables end to end and some suitcases are on them labeled "girls", "boys", and "Mom/dad". There is a new rack hanging in the laundry room for "cruise clothes". I picked up the Disney medical form from the doctor today and am ready to fax it to the cruise line to authinticate we do need a wheelchair accessable room. 6 of the 7 of us now have some really nice dress clothes due to some great consignment shops and some super sales. 5 passports are in (yes I know we don't HAVE to have them), and I'll send the #'s to Disney later tonight. Pick up the dry cleaning tomorrow, started making the room lists (toiletries, etc) times 3 rooms, started packing the "medical" suitcase, last night got the hotel reservations in Kissimmee for the 7th, MVMCP tickets came yesterday, tomorrow is my last day off until Tuesday, did I mention I am a part time cake decorator at a VERY busy store and was told that instead of my 20 hours a week I should expect to put in 50 hours between now and Thanksgiving?, squeeze in a Hannah Montana concert (Monday) which is 2 hours away, picked up two mickey mouse ties at JC Penny's today, and then the thought accured to me... if we all get to bring 2 suitcases, how would I ever fit 7 people and 14 suitcases in my van?????

Is it time to panic yet????

The boys wanted to see hannah too but they have seen raven and Aly & AJ at six flags, we always get season passes and on the day of the show you get free tickets :)

I'm not in panic mode - but then again I'm not trying to buy/pack for 7 people who are staying in three staterooms, and the extra medical stuff too. Wears me out just thinking about it! :)

50 hours between now and Thanksgiving?!?! THAT'S a lot of cakes!

Yep huge chunk of change as my DH is self - employed and I'm now a SHAM and was employed by a healthcare company with wonderful bene so we've bitten the bulk. We have high deductibles but also have some access to free healthcare as my sis is an OB/Gyn and neighbors are ENT and Surgeons. DH is in healthcare but not a doctor.

I give up... what's the deal with the pins? Been so out of touch Disney-wise for the past 10 years I am clueless to all this pin trading stuff. Somebody clue me in please....

It's pins that you can wear on lanyards, hats, jackets, shirts and some are worth lots and some nothing. Certain cast members have some special pins and people trade pins. You can purchase pins too.

I'm hoping now since we'll have a nice lanyard for DD she might start this little game.

Yes, health insurance today is a joke. For a few years DH was self employed, and we did COBRA to the tune of about 1k a month. Man, what I could have done/do with that money!

Trust Me... Don't go there... It is more addicting then Dis' Boards :rotfl:

DH has thousands of pins :sad2:

I trade with Cast Members in All the parks :thumbsup2 I use to go to Pin Trading Meets in NJ

I'd be happy to :goodvibes

Disney started the whole pin trading/collecting thing in 2000 (i think). Basically, the cast members where lanyards with pins on them. If you have a Disney pin, then you can trade the CM. There are even special "hidden mickey" pins that you can ONLY get by trading a CM. So, you might pic up a box 8 of pins at WDW for $30 or so, then trade for ones you like. Some of the pins you trade for might be selling in their stores for $8 - $15.

Disney must make a killing on pins! They release them for everything and people buy them up. There are limited edition pins released all the time. There are even special pins you can only get on the cruise ships (different pins depending if you're on the Magic or the Wonder). They even have big pin trading events each year, where hundreds of traders come. They have an auction selling pre-production and other one-of-a-kind pins/sets. People at the auction pay THOUSANDS of dollars for just a few of these pins!

It is fun, but there are always those who will spoil things. There are some pin traders at DTD who can be very "eager" to trade with other pin collectors and tourists. You definitely have to beware of these "sharks" :sad2:

Do not panic!
I do not think you will be putting seven people and 14 bags into one van. Who will be strapped on top?
Last year we decided to get a new car on the way out of town for the cruise. I had packed the Excursion full, the new Suburban was not as big. You should have seen the look on DD(17) face  when we told her she would have to leave a bag in Atlanta. I hope to only bring one bag per person this year and one or two empty bags for our new found treasures.
I still need to get a suitcase. I had a suitcase but my dear cat decided to spray it when I got home Monday morning.:headache: He has never sprayed anything before Monday. :headache: I am starting to think I don't need a cat, well, this cat.

You're so right :lmao: My kids especially have probably have over a thousand!

You can trade on the ships too! Does anyone need pins for trading at WDW or on the cruise? :rolleyes1 Our lanyards will be great for putting a few pins on! You never know when you'll meet a CM with a lanyard :woohoo:
