I'm thinking about maybe trying to sew myself something for formal night at this point. Haven't had much luck in the stores and I'm reluctant to buy online cause you never know about the fit.

I have not tried to sew anything since I gave up on a leisure suit I was woking on for DrHug. (you can imagine how many years ago that was!) I could not get the darn collar figured out. :rotfl:

That's fine Stacy! I personally only have a few that aren't already on a box, but everyone was talking about bringing something from where you live and we figured, what's more representing of where you live than your food! :rotfl: For instance, I have a couple recipes like potato soup, or a "punch-bowl cake" and some others, and know in other parts of the continent food is really specific to that area. Another thing that most people freak out about when they hear we eat it down here is deer. I love it probably as much as beef. Sorry if that bothers anyone. I don't want to offend any vegitarians or vegans or anything. I try to respect everyone's religous, political, and food preferences. :thumbsup2

Yummer! One of my favorite meals is venison steak (deer for those who don't eat wild game), waffles (real ones, not the frozen ones DrHug always has to eat!) and wild chokecherry syrup. MMMMMM Sweetpea and DSIL will be going hunting next weekend, hopefully they will bring mama a steak! :rotfl:

I've tried Venison Stew once, it was good.. But I tend to try and stay away from Beef, Pork, Lamb, etc etc I do like chicken.. Sometimes I get "in the mood" for a Meat so I will eat a bit.. or if I don't want it and the Men do, I eat around it.. Stew with potatoes, gravy, veggies, bread & butter tastes the same to me as it would with the beef.. ;)

I could always ask my MoM or look online for some food from Jersey for a Dis Cook Book :thumbsup2 I'm still planning on Bringing Salt Water Taffy to Represent NJ but I wouldn't know how to make it.. :confused3

Wow I found a whole site on Salt Water Taffy.. :thumbsup2

I never knew you could look up your state and see what Foods origanated in it..

NJ founded Oyster Crackers & M&Ms :confused3 Who knew

I also looked up Water Gate Salad.. my Mom use to make that for BBQs over the summers.. :cloud9:

Some are I think. They are the ones that will ask about the green shirts and want to know how to get their own. Others are "just going for the kids" and aren't kids at heart like we are.

I don't know about you... but... I don't know many people who just "Go for the kids" I think they use the "kids" for an excuse because THEY want to do to Disney not the Child ;)

I'm from Chicago and I have been to Heaven on Seven. Will this be your first winter in Florida? Gee, won't you miss windchill, the wind off the lake, and lake effect snow? NOT!

This is our second winter down here... i dont miss it a bit. I have turned into a true Floridian when i need to wear a sweater when it is in the high 70's!

Cruise: I think you were asking about differant styles of crocks? I have the ballet flats and the mary janes in addition to my pink mickey crocs. They are SOOoo comfy:cloud9: When i worked at clinique i wore the mary janes every day to work, they nearly have holes in the bottom!

Off to get ready for church.

Later :yay:

:laundy: to do today. And more projects on the house. I was going to get the downstairs all cleared out so we can lay the tiles, but I think I will clean out and paint the upstairs bedroom instead. Tiles can wait until next week, which will be a 4 day weekend for us. Veterans Day next Monday. :thumbsup2

DrHug is struggling with plumbing issues in the downstairs bath. :sad2: We have a joint in the ceiling that has a pinhole in the solder. Slow drip. And yesterday we got the new vanity and sink ready to put in, after painting and replacing the moulding around the floor and the drain does not match up. Nothing in this house was standard when it was built! :headache: So, he has to figure out how to get that black pipe stuff unglued and put in a longer crook neck so it will match up with the drain from the sink. It will be nice when done. We should have taken some before photos, but too late now.

That black pipe cannot be unglued - he's going to have to cut it and replace it.

I too had a pinhole in the solder on a joint I did, it was from heating up and pulling off the cap that the plumber had put on when he roughed in my bathroom when I was building the house. I ended up cutting the copper back 3 inches from the stub, and re soldering it. When I pulled off the cap, it cut a tiny groove into the pipe that never sealed properly when I refitted it. It's all better now.

I'm planning on putting up Christmas lights today on the roof, since the weather is nice. I do it for two reasons every year, 1 because I love lights on the roof, and 2 it's a good time to check the roof for damage and how the shingles are doing. We have a two story house, so I don't often get a good look at how things are aging up there.

We cleaned out the garage yesterday so we can finally get 2 cars in our 3.5 car garage... darn kids toys!

:headache: Guess we will get his little saw back out. :sad2: I think I will just get out my paint brushes and stay out of the way! :rolleyes1

Did I mention that we are NOT Mr. and Mrs. Fixit when it comes to plumbing? He does great with electrical and we can patch and paint walls just fine. He installed doors and rebuilt the deck, but plumbing is a pain! :scared:
