:tinker: The Taylor's October WDW & DVC Tour Trip Report

Our Vacation Club Guide took us into the Grand Villa for the WOW factor. It was VERY nice. But, we don't ever forsee needing that large of a room.
:

The great thing is, you WILL need a place that large one day. Remember you'll have your membership for 50 YEARS. By that time, even your kids may have Grandkids! :woohoo:

Good morning, Wendy! Morning there, right?

Yep, I'm at work. I do like getting up at 5:30 to use my blue light before I leave the house. But I'm finding I like sleeping until 6:00 and using the light at work better!

Last night I told Jasmine about the Member cruise and how bummed I was that we won't be able to go.

I asked if she wanted to go to WDW next October, and just stay there for a week, but not take a cruise. She looked at me in horror! A vacation that long that doesn't involve a cruise!

But then she decided that might be okay. I can book next month for October!

Yes! It is just DrHug and I now, but we need a grandvilla this year. Waitlisted, but not much hope. :sad2: It is so much fun to be able to treat my sis, mom, niece and family, nephew and family, daughter and SIL to lodging at WDW! We have a 2 bedroom and a studio at VWL reserved...waitlisted for the same or grandvilla at either OKW or SSR. Still hoping but time is getting short.

Do you guys know what kind of incentives they offer on the cruise for signing up with DVC? And, is there any way to spin it as an "investment" rather than a vacation club? DH is talking about investments.... but he never talks about vacations. :sad1:

I asked my guide about that, and he said the incentives on the cruise are the same as those offered on land. In fact he'll be getting on the Magic the day we get off!

There's some financial details at dvcnews.com that I'm sure your hubby would be interested in.

OK everyone I think I will wait to finish the door magnet until late-November because I am going to have to redesign it because with all of the newbies the print is so small that you need a :magnify: to see what it says

Yes, its getting hard to keep up isn't it? I think most folks were going to use the list as a reference they could carry around though. So if you go to 2 pages, that'd probably be easier for you than trying to constantly redesign. You could do the activities on the first page and the list on the second.

Thanks for doing this for us! We don't want you to go to extra trouble.

I caved. I ended up booking the 7 night Costa Maya cruise over Halloween next year, and we'll do 6 nights prior at WDW. I'll book SSR next month, and will try to get into either BWV, BCR, or AKL at the 7 month point.

My signature is too busy, I'll have to work on that later tonight. But right now, it's quittin' time for me.

Happy Friday everyone!!

6 weeks from this VERY moment I will be in FL driving to the port!!!!!!!! :cool1:  :woohoo:

:goodvibes I don't want to get too mushy but our 7 year old made a cute statement right after we had signed the DVC paperwork. I was walking him out to the car and was explaining to him what we had bought and then told him that it was good for 50 years so that he and his siblings would be able to build memories with their kids one day. He said "thank you Daddy" and mentioned that he would make sure to bring his kids by to thank me and Mommy for this when they got older. When we were disussing how long 50 years was he said "and even if you are gone Daddy, I will bring the kids by your grave site and bring you flowers to thank you for this". I wasn't expecting to hear this from a 7 year old but I have to say I was choking up a bit. Kids are truly one of life's greatest gifts.

At the risk of losing some "manlyness" around here, I have to say that kind of choked me up too! Like you said you don't expect to hear a 7 year old say something like that and that was just incredibly sweet!!

I had my first cruise dream last night. I forgot to pack our lime green shirts so no one knew who we were and we did not get to meet any one. (:confused3 maybe everyone else also fogot their shirts)
Also, all the hangers in our closet were rusty because the closet did not have a ceiling, it was open air. Anyone know what that means?
