*Warning* Mushy & May Cause Tears*

This is a Post to ALL of you :grouphug:

I would really like to Thank each and every one of you for the kind words and praise for my Son and me as a Mom :sad1:

It wasn't always this easy.. Well yes. he was, he is laid back like me.. But prior to Andy (DH) my DS & I went through some rough patches with his Bio Father.. He was, well IS an alcoholic who liked to show his "authority" and we had more then 1 police officer to our house to control him..

At one point DS was so afraid his father would hurt him next that he was having nightmares and walking in his sleep.. :guilty:

DS & I have been with Andy for almost 9 years now.. Andy adopted him as his own a year after we married :goodvibes

DS's Bio Father look at it as a way to get out of the $35,000 in back child and spousal support he owed us.. :sad2: which really hurt that he could put a price tag on his son.. but.. at least That chapter had finally ended..

DS is an honor roll student and Loves to help people. He is a Volunteer First Aider & he also is a Peer Leadership volunteer for tweens who run away due to abuse & neglect.. He helps collect donations for the Children's center of food, clothes, toys, money whatever he can and DH & I am VERY very proud of him

Ok so before I start to blubber over here I just wanted to again Thank each of you for your thoughts, praise & kind words...

I can't wait to meet you ALL in December !!! :cheer2:

OK tell me if there are any typos or wrong information on what I have so far...

Thank you for sharing. We all need to hear more stories about good kids today. :grouphug:

Too Bad DS isn't going to be on this cruise with us.. I talk about you all so much DS knows all about you.. :rolleyes1

But.. He can't risk a week off of school.. he is permitted a minimum amount of days for his Medical program and doesn't want to Risk it..

Plus he is taking off 3 days already this month when we go to WDW the 24th - 28th and MNSSHP on the 26th :woohoo:

Our drive yesterday was to see a concert in a Celtic music festival about 3 hrs from home. The headliners were the Chieftains, totally amazing traditional Irish music group, been around 45 years with various members, and IMO the fathers of the Celtic music revival. Happy enough to be going to the concert. We'd seen them before, and they do this wonderful thing where they round out the show with local talent, usually young (twenties, even teens), encouraging all. The concert was amazing. But in the hotel, when we were taking the kids down for a swim, dh recognized Paddy Maloney, the group's leader, going up the stairs! I was in my swimsuit and a hoodie, and babbled about being thrilled, while dh had the presence of mind to ask to shake his hand. Wow. Let me tell you, it's as good for us as touching Garth.

So, airfare, shuttle, Paddy Maloney. What a day! :cloud9:

WOW! The Chieftans! We have some of their CDs. That is totally cool!!

I managed to keep the secret from them for--a big 3.5 weeks. Pizza night, dh and I couldn't stand it anymore, so we broke out the postcards we got from DCL, plopped a pirate hat on each of them, and spilled. Dd just keeps saying "all the room service we want!!" My rationale is I need lots of time to talk to them about what to expect so they'll have a better time. This is especially true of ds who will try new things with gusto, if he knows something of what to expect.

..

Another thing that worked for us to get our DGS7 comfortable was to show him photos of the DIS kids that were sailing with us and tell him their names. Even though he had not met them, he had heard so much about William and Nicholas and knew their faces from photos, that he was excited to play with them in the club and on the beach at Castaway Cay. At first it was "that kid I'm gonna play with", then he started remembering the names and they were "friends" by the time we got to the first DIS meet. I think there are some photos on our web page.:thumbsup2

Thank you for warning me to have kleenex handy. :grouphug: DrHug's bio father was abusive also (way back in the 1940;s) and thankfully he never saw him after he was 3. He too was blessed with a REAL Dad who married his mom when he was 6 and adopted him.

The paper is very common. You'll find it in craft stores, office supply stores and almost any place that sells more than a few office supplies. I've seen them in a grocery store!

They work on an ink jet printer. Do not try it with a laser printer unless the paper is for a laser printer. That is unusal.

Keep checking with the Disney site because the shirts sometimes show back up.

Thanks! I was headed out to a fabric and crafts store today anyway because they have those foam pumpkins you can carve on sale. I figured.. better than one that's gonna turn to mush in 12 days.

Awww :grouphug: My father had an alcoholic father who was killed when he was thrown from a car while driving drunk a month before my sister (his first grandchild) was born. I can't imagine the man my father would be today if not for the grace of God and my grandmother. It's no secret what that woman had to go through for my father and uncles. But she broke "the cycle" to make them into the wonderful men and fathers they are today. There's no doubt you've done the same with your son. He sounds like he's already a fine young man.

I can't keep secrets from Jasmine either!

On the cruise blog, there are links to photo albums of some of the families. There's photos of Jasmine on our last 3 Disney cruises - first one when she was 4. You can tell them that Jasmine loves Disney cruises, and that they will get to meet all the characters like she did.

And Jasmine just said that she'd be happy to show your kids around the club on the first night. She'll be in the Lab during regular times, but on the first night they have a family open house to help you get your gets familarized with the program. And trust me her excitement is infectious!

If you have an online photo album to share, we'd love to see it!

Thanks for sharing Stacy. I'm so glad you and DS have such a wonderful life now. :grouphug:

I can't keep secrets from Jasmine either!

I never kept our trips to Disney a secret from our DS but I have been known to keep certains aspects of the trip secret from my DW. :cool2:

One year we were flying from OKC to WDW early. When they called for 1st Class passengers I said to her let's go on and board; they won't stop us. :rolleyes1 I got up and headed to plane. She was terrified and fussing the whole way. I hadn't told her that I cashed in some points and bought 1st class tickets. It was funny. I have a photo somewhere of us sitting in 1st class.

PS: I like 1st Class! :thumbsup2

Hi, everybody!

Just got up from a nap (what a luxury!). DGD had soccer this morning, then we had some shopping to do. I'm coming down with a horrible cold (again) courtesy of DGD. It seems that when she's sick, she wants Grandma. She says she has to share her germs with somebody, so it might as well be me, because I'm nice even when I'm sick. I guess that's supposed to be a compliment!

Brack: We like first class too. That's why we're taking the train--the budget doesn't quite allow first class this time! Last October, when we were returning from WDW, we gave up our seats on the flight home for a family with an emergency. Continental put us in a hotel for the night and flew us home first class the next morning. They also gave us travel vouchers that were enough to cover a first class flight home in March. Now we're on our own, so it looks like Amtrak will be the way to go We love train travel and have lots of vacation time, so it's fine with us!

Well, it's off to my knitting project. The soccer coach is pregnant, so I'm knitting her a tiny fisherman sweater and matching afghan. It will keep me busy for a little while!

OK, DH just emerged from his nap, and has agreed to sign on and start posting later on this evening. I've got to get him registered, and then he'll be here (so he says)!

Brack that shuttle shot is amazing. I figure, we've got at least 2 days' grace at this point, Thursday's good, Friday's good, Saturday's also good...

Glad a couple of you knew who I was talking about, thanks Angie and Brack! We also had fiddlers galore, some great Irish and Scottish dancers, and some cute pipers in kilts. (Yes, I have a thing for kilts.) Oh, and the premier (like state governor) is a former professional fiddler, and actually got up on stage for a bit of a step-dance. I didn't vote for him, but now I may have to...

Angie that's a great idea, I will start sharing that info now that we've spilled the secret. And Wendy, they'll be thrilled to have a "tour guide" especially a "big girl". Of course B's first question will be "are you a princess??" princess:

I also saw them in the craft/sewing section of Wal Mart, if you didn't find them already, Julie.

PS: I like 1st Class! :thumbsup2

What's not to like??:lmao: Have done it on points a couple of times myself. I remember taking ds as a "lap child" once, and all the business men groaned...dh still tells the story with pride of changing his son's diaper in first class...

Good surprise. :thumbsup2
