I will now that I can breathe again, I ran out of Kleenex and had to steel the TP out of the bathroom.

when I had the flu last week, I went out and bought special lotion soft tissues for me and regular plain ones for the rest of the house..

well I was the one who was sick and need soft ones for my red nose

That's what I like about living in a small town everytime a student passes away they dismiss school during the funeral so the kids can go.

Our town is a real old victorian and our house is over 140 years old.. we have no post man, we have go to the post office in town every day for our mail.. because we have less then 1,500 year round residents..

Since we have the new tv with surrround sound, Bill just re-subscribed us to Netflix. We have three movies that need to be watched soon. Has anyone seen Knocked Up? That is one of them. We don't get to the movie theatre too much. Usually if we do, it is for movies like Harry Potter or Shrek (this past summer). We found the 30 Year Old Virgin to be a hoot. So, I am hoping this will be the same type of humor.

I've got Knocked Up coming on the way from Netflix. It looks funny.

I don't go to the movie theatre too often either. I got out of the habit real quick in California where babysitters charge $10 an hour.

Now I just prefer to watch them in the comfort of my own home. After we go back to the states we'll get a nice new TV with all the bells and whistles.

Yep, I normally would've been online by this time, but I slept in this morning after the big party and staying up late on the board.

I'm at work now, doing nothing but catching up on posts!

It really is sad that you have to think "worst case scenario" now just to keep kids safe. I remember when we were kids, we'd run around outside, ride our bikes, hang out at the mall on Friday nights. But yeah, now you have to worry about a 15 year old running off with a sex offender. Did you guys read about that?

And with all the sickos out there... yeah... it baffles the mind. But it's made people completely paranoid about simple things...even cards. Even so, I travel quite a bit and I have to admit that I'm very cynical about a local offering "help." You just read too much these days about people scamming tourists. It's so sad.

Last week when I came home sick one day, there were some workmen outside my house. They asked if I was going to be home and told me that the gas and electric would be off for an hour each. They didn't speak english, and I don't speak Flemish so it was definitely not a detailed conversation. Well while I was inside napping they started knocking on my door. I tried to ignore them, but they wouldnt' go away. I was also thinking worst case scenario. What if it was some kind of ruse to get inside the house? Well when I finally opened the door, I saw that they had dug a 4 foot deep hole in my driveway and had posted orange cones all around it. I figured they wouldn't go to that much trouble just to rob my house! I let them in the garage where the gas and electric meters are. I still dont' know what they did or why.

But luckily they've been working on filling in the hole in the driveway.

When I was growing up, my friends didn't understand why my parents were so open about the things they let me do. And it was simply because they trusted me because I didn't give them any reason not to. I'm not saying I never got in trouble, but really, that one time the principal had to call my dad... I'd already called him 10 mins before to tell him the principal would be calling.

But yeah, I hope if I ever have kids, we can have a pretty open relationship and they feel like they can actually ask me about things instead of sneaking around behing my back.

But since I don't have even have kids of my own, I'll quit preaching on the subject.

ITA. I think its important to talk to kids about values, whats appropriate behavior, self worth etc at a young age. If they understand the big picture, then I think they will make better choices when options are presented to them.
