JoiseyMom,

If anyone in your family likes planes, Maho Beach is where the planes land right over the beach into Julianna airport. They start in around 1pm or so and go on until about 3pm if I remember correctly. There is nothing like being "that close" to a 747 as it comes in just almost skimming the beach. You can look up Maho Beach and airplanes on youtube and see some pretty amazing video. I emailed Beau with No Rush about a month ago, and he is booked for when we are in St. Maarten.

St. Thomas is supposed to be wonderful and good for shopping. The biggest advantage for those driving is you can bring back up to 4 liters of alcohol plus one made in the VI without paying extra customs duty. There was a name of a place in Havensight mall that had pretty decent prices. Also remember, the art of haggling is important on any island. We are going on a sail/snorkel tour booked independently and then do our shopping in the afternoon.

For us, our beach day is going to be Castaway Cay though this time the ship is the true destination for us.

I think we have our plans all set now. The last piece was a hotel near Portland airport with park and fly. We live over an hour away and our flight leaves a little after 7 am.....long day from the west coast to Orlando! We have for the last several trips done the park and fly. The hotel for the night, and convenience of being 10 minutes from the airport and so getting an extra hour of sleep, is only going to cost us about $30 after subtracting what 2 weeks of parking at the airport would cost! We are sharing a room with DD and DSIL also so the cost is really nothing for the convenience! :thumbsup2 I got that booked yesterday. So, until I remember the next LAST thing that I have forgotten to do for this group of 13, I think we are set! :lmao: ;)

Angie:

Have you travelled with that larger of an extended family (13) in the past? I take it, you are the designated Travel Agent and Cruise Director for the group. :lmao: Since joining DVC, Bill and I have talked about future WDW and DCL trips with my parents. However, that will have to be two separate trips since they are divorced. Don't get me wrong, they get along. But, it could still be awkward with my Mom and Step-Dad in one room and My Dad and his girlfriend in the other. :rolleyes1

We travel without kids too. Mostly because we don't have any and people seem to frown on just picking up a couple at the airport. :confused3 ;)

:lmao: We have a few you could "borrow". :dance3: One at a time they are fine. But, when you put the three together and it can be pure chaos at times.:dance3:

The GF is so beautiful during the holidays, They have a life sized gingerbread house that they sell gingerbread from! Yum!

:thumbsup2 Visiting the GF is on our itinerary for our December WDW trip. We also saw the Travel Channel Christmas special on WDW. The kids can't wait to see and smell the gingerbread house. That is also when we decided to surprise the kids with tickets to MVMCP. The parade looks amazing!:santa:

Dh and I are traveling without the kids (think second honeymoon???), and are flying out first thing the morning of the 8th. We are gonna grab a rental car, and drive down to the port. We will probably make a quick stop at a store. As soon as we get on the ship, I want to try to get any sort of Palo ressies! I want brunch and or dinner maybe even try out high tea. I want something!! I have no idea what we will do on the islands. I did read about http://www.norushtours.com/, and we are considering doing that. We plan on many drinks of the day, and a relaxing cruise. I am looking forward to the ships activities, day and nite time and just relaxing and having fun. I am also looking forward to meeting you guys!! We will be flying home the day we disembark.

Any suggestions of places that you 'must" see on the Islands??? Please feel free to share, I am open to all suggestions.

Depends on how much time you want to spend touring. At St Thomas Megans Bay is georgeous. It would be a taxi ride. Or you can just walk across the street and do the tram and enjoy the beauty of the port. Or if you want to spend more time St John is absolutely beautiful everywhere. It is mostly National Park, so very undeveloped. Trunk Bay is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. We did the short Island Tour thru Disney our first trip there and that is the one we are taking my DS, DMom and the 2 one year old babies on. You see alot of the island thru the tour and it is not very expensive, nor is it too time consuming.

 Has anyone seen "Meet The Robinsons"? I just picked it up today on DVD at Wal-Mart. I like the savings you get at Wal-Mart and Target when you buy DVDs the first week they are released. :cool1:

I think if we borrowed someone else's kids for a week prior to having our own children, we'd probably still be childless!:lmao: Don't get me wrong, I love and cherish our kids. But, there are days when :scared1: Lets just say child #3 was a "blessing from above". :rolleyes1

We are very, very close with my sis and her crew so we have done many short trips and outings with them over the years. This is the first cruise for my mom, my niece and her family and nephew and his family. My sis has gone on an Alaska criuse with her DH, but not Disney and not far from home. Dennis and I have done alot of Disney everything and they all trust that we will show them a good time and so delegated us to make all the decisions and all the arrangements. We planned to do this last Dec, but both of DS's kids had babies withing 2 months of our cruise date so they postponed. It has been a fun year planning with them and they are all just SO excited based on our photos and fun we have had. We had taken my step sis and her daughter once with us, but that was before we owned DVC and we each paid for our lodging. We have done a WDW/DCL with a group of 11 - all our kids and grandkids except one daughter. They too let us make all the decisions and we had a ball. No one complains because they don't know any different!! ;) And, my sis does call me The Director - she has for years! :lmao:

Our third was an unexpected blessing too! We had two girls, thought we would be ok with stopping there.:rolleyes1 Then six years after the last girl.... I'm WHAT??? But we got our boy and he was truly a blessing. ;)

I wonder how much of a shock it would be to DH to tell him we'll have a child by the time we cruise. :rotfl: Even better, I can tell him we'll have 3.

no body believed me when I said I was having twins. I was thinking, why in the world would I make something like that up...:confused3 :confused3

My sister is here and I am officially non existent to the boys right now.
I have asked them all day if they wanted to play connect 4, operation, sorry, monoply and they were like NO mom we don't feel like playing and the minute my sister walked in the door they were like auntie, auntie want to play a board game....GRRRR......

I've been going back and forth the past hour between the kitchen and the office. I am making homemade sauce with meatballs and sausage for the lasagna I am bringing to my sister's house for dinner tomorrow. I am half-Italian. So, I can't bring myself to use canned sauce for the lasagna. It just tastes so much better when the meatballs and sausage have been cooking in the sauce for hours. It reminds me of going to my grandma's house on Sundays. :goodvibes I just finally put the last meatball in the sauce. :cool1: Bill and DS7 are still at the Halo 3 Tournament. They should be heading home. Bill and I are going back on our healthy eating on Monday. Having fish 'n chips twice at Epcot didn't fit into my diet plan. So, he was promised his "last supper" of pizza tonight for dinner (his all-time favorite food). Then, the lasagna tomorrow. That will be the last of the "bad eating" until the cruise. From the sounds of it, others seems to be getting back on track too.:thumbsup2 We are all going to be starving come cruise time.:lmao: The whole time last year on the cruise I never had one Mickey bar. This time, I am determined to have at least one.:mickeybar

I can't imagine having two babies at once! One at a time they were a challenge for me. You have all my praises! :worship: - Jennifer
