Kind of a long story, but when I was out of college and looking for a job, I had two interviews one in travel and one as an office clerk in a book store paying much better. I figured I would start as the office clerk while I found a better travel job, a year later I became the office clerk in the accounting office of the same bookstore and that grew from there. I was at that bookstore for 14 years doing mostly A/P, but some A/R and then left and became an A/P Supervisor at another company and after three years changed jobs again for a better commute. A/P is challenging, it seems a lot of people don't relize that it is not just data entry and running checks, but a LOT of problem solving. That is my favorite part!

One good thing about accounting is there will always be a need in the industry. Travel is so competitive. Several of the agencies I worked for no longer exist now. You are so right about the problem solving with A/P!!! I don't even do the check runs, someone else does, as we have 3 in our A/P dept. My in-box is currently over-flowing with issues I need to get resolved. I loved A/R and the routine of invoicing, cash app, credits, etc. but it was always the same. I never wanted to do A/P but I needed a change and it was my only option at the company I was at if I wanted to continue to work there, so I switched departments. It took me about a year to get the hang of it but I am still working on my speed. I thought A/R was detail-oriented but A/P is much more so. Fortunately I am with a company that can pay their bills! The last company I worked for had little cash flow so creditors were always calling. I would never do their A/P! Are you still in a supervisory position? I was A/R supervisor at my last company but after having two kids, I decided I couldn't handle the responsibility of the job with trying to raise two little ones, so I am happiliy a peon now. :rotfl:

So who is snow/ice/crappy weather bound right now?? It started snowing here at 9 this morning. We have a few inches of snow and now it is currently sleeting/raining. It's supposed to switch back to snow later. The roads are terrible and we are BORED! My DH is a mailman so I imagine he is having a really bad day. I haven't dared to call him today. :scared:

Hey Kristen,
I tried to get the red eye out of your pic for you; Got the red eyes out, but couldn't do anything about the white flash reflection.:confused3

Hey Crash - I remember you from the Photography Board!!! Hope you can join us!:cool1:

Andrew, here's our info:

Jen, 40ish
John, 40ish

Josh 16 at cruise
Kieran 12 at cruise
Ryan 12 at cruise

So far we are in two Cat 10s. I just had a Cat 10 last week on the Wonder; past two Magic cruises, we had two Cat 6s. Problem is having to get that 2d room (or Cat 4) - really adds up the $$$$!:rolleyes1 I suspect I will upgrade before then, b/c I REALLY like having the balcony.:cloud9:

For all of you with DD who will be 7 on the cruise, our youngest DD Emily will be 5 1/2 so they will be in the same group in the Club! So add another friend to the list. Now to find a 10-12'er for DD Elizabeth who will be nearly 11.

Jeff-

Good! My DS will be 9, so he and your DD will both be in the lab.

Thanks! We stayed at POP Century for the week before the cruise. My DD's bday was that week, so we did Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, MNSSHP, and all character meals. It was a great trip. We also bought our almost 7yo nephew for the vacation, that was kind of hard. My DD and him get along great, but we are very used to having 1 kid(too spoiled), so two for two weeks was alot. We were in a "Disney Daze" for that time, even my DH, he was the one who suggested rebooking the cruise-on the first day, and by the end of the cruise, we were also DVC members(thanks to him- I have converted him to a Disney freak like me now)I am not sure where we are staying before the cruise, my DH said Grand Floridian(on points- for 3 nights- we'll see):goodvibes

You are going to have SO MUCH FUN! My DD is just starting to get into HM and HSM. DS loves HSM and on our cruise we did the HSM family dance party, which was alot of fun.

We shut down our santa shop early. The snow started at 9am and the roads got too bad plus there were hardly any shoppers. But I got to talk to some of the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization is what we call it around here. Not sure if it's the same everywhere) officers. I'm a new officer this year so don't really know anybody.

Fudge and peanut brittle.....YUM. I want to bake today so I think I'll head to the store soon because the snow started again and we're supposed to get a few more inches today. We got 4 yesterday. For you that's nothing but for us, we forget how to drive! :rotfl2:
