Hello everyone & a big :welcome: to all the new cruisers. I have been away for a while...caught up with life but I just paid off our trip balance  last week and we are sooo excited because time is flying and our trip is basically right around the corner!! :cool1: I have a question and I cant seem to find the answer for it yet but what exactly are the cruise bracelets for?? (Yes, I am new to cruising!) Thanks in advance for any responses :thumbsup2

Just got back off the Magic Jan31 - Feb7 to St. Croix, just booked onto the May 9th 2009 Magic.
We are soooo excited! Our son is 11, he had such a great time 2 weeks ago on the Magic in Ocean Quest! . Mark and I had a fantastic time at Magen Bay in St. Thomas:cool1:. We have many pictures if anyone wants to see them!:dance3:
Our disney friends from DISboards all met the first day on the ship at Promenade lounge. Is there going to be a door magnet exchange for May 9? That was too kool!!!!! If anyone has any questions about anything don't hesitate to ask me. We are beginning to be quite savvy with the disney cruises. This will be our 5th and our son's 7th.:cheer2:

Welcome!!
We have full plans to do Magens Bay on our own and would love to see some of your pics! How busy was the beach when you were there and did you do the DCL excursion or on your own? Did you find the water nice and calm? Did the beach seem busier at a certain time of your stay?

Looks like our daughter, Meghan, will be in Ocean Quest with your son. She will be turning 12 March 2nd.

Geat to hear from you again, stranger! I hope all is well!:thumbsup2

The cruise bracelets... they are just something to help identify your fellow DIS cruisers when you are wondering around the Terminal the first day before the ship sets sail or in the halls etc. as the cruise go on, and a nice little souvinor at the end. Not a requirement by any means but we thought we would throw it out there as an option for those who wanted to buy one or a family full.

We are also arranging a Fish Extender group, if you guys would like to join in on that. I think there is a post a little bit back that gives a general 411 on it.

Since I know some of you are ready to book those good times when the 75 day mark rolls around soon, I thought I would post this from a moderator that talks about reserving Palo and excursions at the 75 day mark:

No, DCL releases aproximately 50% of the Palo resies at the 105 day mark for concierge and REAS, with CC members getting to book at 90 and new cruisers at 75 days. The remaining 50% of the Palo resies are held for the ship, but not all of them are open to all guests since concierge saves some resies for those concierge guests who have not booked ahead. All excursion spots are released at the 105 day mark, though there may be a few held back for concierge who don't use the internet, though the concierge contact they have available via phone before the cruise should eliminate that excuse IMO.

I do feel like a stranger...its been a while since I've posted but am overjoyed that our cruise is FINALLY paid off!!! I guess I'm realizing that we are surely going :woohoo:

About the bracelets & FE...I will hit up the crew and see what they say about it and will let you know. Is there a order deadline for the bracelets?

By the way... :welcome: to CWO4DVC!!

If you could shoot me a PM by the 25th of this month with confirmation if you would like me to order bracelets that would be great! I know my kids are looking forward to getting their bracelets- the girls are into those type I guess.

Seeing as how our rooms are across from each other on the ship, you will have no chance to be a stranger onboard... especially with our two DDs likely knocking on each others door wanting to run to the club together! :woohoo:

In case anyone didnt catch the posting with the menu scans... here you go! Mouthwatering to say the least, though I could see myself ordering the steak off the "lighter fare" menu one night in place of the featured main courses. Or heck maybe we will end up in Topsiders for dinner instead one or two nights?!
The kids menu scans are also there, in case the kiddies want to check out what is waiting onboard for them each night. If they decide to eat with the kids club for dinner (which I think my girls will do at least a few nights) they will go to Topsiders for a choice of fine buffet selections made just for the kids!

We hope you have a great birthday!!!!!!

Scottie,

Did Magens Bay on our own. DS stayed onboard and had a great time. There were 3 ships in port and it was not crowded at the beach. We took a cab (open truck type vehicle) for $8/person each way and I think the entrance fee was $4. Beautiful calm waters. Lounge chairs for rent or just bring a towel unless you want to purchace one for $25. There were 3 bathhouses for changing and with showers. A little bar on the beach with some lunchtime food. We did go the first week of February so we had some overcast skies for part of the day. Spent 3 hours at the beach and 3 hours shopping in the town. Tammie is looking forward to picking up a couple more D&B purses from the downtown market. Give me a hint of how to post pictures and I will send a couple.

Had dinner 2 nights at Topsiders. A fantastic Porterhouse steak one night and some Venison the second night. It was very relaxing for Tammie and I as our DS spent almost his entire cruise with a close knit group at Ocean Quest. The children had a late night at Quartermasters for a full hour of free games, a night in the hot tub and pool and also a movie night. Edson who is one of the counselors was fantastic with the kids. I am sure you will all agree after meeting him. DS was sad to leave but did get all their e-mail addresses and is now writing them.

Thanks for the info Mark! Sounds like you guys did exactly what we plan to do, Magens Bay on our own for a handful of hours with the whole family and then do some shopping after. The beach/water just sound perfect and I am happy to hear that even with three ships in port it wasnt over crowded at Magens Bay.
My wife, Sunny, is a purse freak (I mean that in a nice way!) and wants to try to get the Coach store and to the market. I think they also plan to go shopping and bargin hunting in St Maarten While I go on the 12 Meter Regatta excursion with Jeremy... assuming he can land a spot when the 75 day bookings open. Feel free to join us if you like!

Ocean Quest will be a nice change for Meghan this cruise and maybe she can become friends with your DS- if boys and girls are willing to talk to each other in Ocean Quest! Morgan will have moved up to the lab and Dylan will have his first time in the club. No one is escaping the clubs on Sunday evening as we have a reservation at Palo!:yay:

Ain't that the truth :lmao:

Well after all this drooling I have been doing over the cruise menus for the past couple of weeks, I go on to read last night that new menus may be hitting the ships before we sail!?! Hopefully they will be as tasty as the current ones!

Hi! This is Tammie. I just wanted to take this opportunity to mention to you guys who like to go to the beach and then shower off, as I do! At Magens Bay their showers consist of salt water!!!!! Couldn't find one that was salt free! Just a thought to pass to everyone.

Hi all,

Just started to read through this thread. Wow, can't believe it is up to 50 pages. My DW (vtinkerbell) and I will be joining all of you. This will be our third Disney Cruise, 13th overall. Just got back from the Feb 1st 4 day with my parents and had a blast. We had such a great time on our first Disney Cruise last year, that we took them with us this year. We will be celebrating our 15 anniversary on May 14th:lovestruc and couldn't think of a better way to spend it than with our Disney family.

Add us to the list and I will try to keep up with all of the postings.

Steve (1stime74) and Josie (vtinkterbell):tinker: Cat. 10 cabin 7003.
