03/29/08, March 29, 2008 Eastern Magic - Who else?

I was out tonight going crazy buying FE gifts when it hit me I forgot to let Michelle know that we were going to particapate in the FE. :rotfl2:

So Michelle please add DD Caitlin (15) and myself (Sha) to the FE list and we are in cabin#7039. Thanks!

Got it. I was just working on it and uploaded it. So I will go ahead and make the new changes and then reupload to photobucket. Glad to have another participant.

John,
I checked a few days ago and they have yet to do the room assignments. That is not unusual though.

Deb,
Thanks for putting together that list for us. I am surprised they had it so far out. That is great.

Here is the most updated version. And yeah we are upto 10 cabins. Now we can really work off all that food we eat.

Hey, Goofydadeo, I see you're from Raleigh, we live in Durham. What flight are you taking to Florida? We're flying SW leaving early on the 29th.

Hi Tiggerluv,

Great to know you are from Chapel Hill... I work close by in RTP (with lots of folks from Chapel Hill).

As of today we are planning driving down on the 28th spending the night on the way (wish we were flying but we decided to save the $$$ - as we will ultimately spend it on board - ha ha!). I also just realized that DS (14) has a school holiday on the Monday after the cruise so we may sneak over to WDW for a couple of days (Sat/Sun) - plans still in the works (of course).

Cheers!

Driving may not be fun but think of all the $$$ you will have to spend on the ship and islands:woohoo:

Also, as you are making your plans for WDW keep in mind it will be crowded. So if your family hates crowds or long lines it may not be the happiest place on Earth for you that week.

We are going to WDW this weekend and then avoiding it like the plague for awhile.

Other than seeing Chicken Little in its debut in the big auditorium, I must say that in a month spent on the boat thus far, I have yet to see a movie, and that includes Enchanted which was released on the boat this past Thanksgiving...I'd rather pay the 8 bucks at home rather than spend the time watching movies when there are always so many other things to do that are often not available at home...and even though we live in south Florida, being able to sit out and reax w/out the constant buzz of the blackberry is a nice change.

I am with you Chuck. Out of all the times we have been on the ship and the several PremEars at sea we have sailed for we have never seen a movie. For us there are so many other things to do. But we have friends that spend the majority of their time in the theatre when they sail. The love to bring a tray of food in and enjoy a movie.

Someday we may watch a movie.

To us, we rather enjoy going to the movies aboard the ships as well as spending time in the spa. To each his own I guess popcorn::

Mason and I saw the premier of Enchanted on the Magic over Thanksgiving. It was neat seeing a Disney Movie with other Disney fans. However, we were in Cozumel at the time and Chuck made good use of the time shopping!! :thumbsup2

Have any of you done the wine package ( I think it is $159 for the cruise)? Any one who did, was it worth it? We are sailing with my father and his wife, so there will be 4 adults sharing it. Was the wine any good? Was it cheaper to do it that way? DId you get a bottle a night for dinner? Any info, thoughts would be appreciated - thanks

Dana
:flower3:
laurencam,

We have always ordered the premium wine package. Not sure if we really save any substantial amount money, but have generally found it to be a reasonably good wine list (vs. the standard) plus it is a convenient way to pay for wine one time for the entire week. If you like reserve wines you can always upgrade when dining, DCL simply gives you a credit which is equal to 1/7 of the total price.

Cheers!

I am not sure if I missed this somewhere earlier in this thread (if I did I apologize) - is anyone organizing a pre-departure meet-n-greet so that we can meet each other while at the DCL terminal before boarding??? We've also done this just before, or after, the sail away party (on Deck 3 overlooking the Goofy pool).

On past DCL cruises we have have done group T-shirts or just worn the lime green disney (mickey ears) paint chips (from Home Depot) so we could easily spot each other...

Any takers????

Boy are we ready for this cruise! If FCAT weren't enough to stress two Florida teachers, our beloved cat, Mango, had a massive stroke in early January and passsed. Bitzy, our hearing impaired cat, was diagnosed with diabetes six weeks ago. Despite injections 2x daily, we couldn't control his sugar levels (they were off the charts) and he went into renal failure and left us last Friday. Then yesterday morning our adorable Lucy girl, a Pekingese, woke us up crying and shivering. We took her to the vet where she had to have emergency surgery for bladder stone blockage. Thank God, Lucy will be ok. Unfortunately, we can't say the same for our pocketbook. :scared1: At least the cruise is paid off, but I guess I may have to forgo some of those spa treatments. DD

No too thrilled about being on deck 1 but I since we got upgraded from a cat 12 to a cat 10 I'm okay.... would have preferred a cat 11 on deck 5, 6 or 7... oh well, won't be in the cabin too much anyway!

Cheers!

Hi goofydadeo....looks like we're going to be neighbors...we're in 1048....received the same upgrade.....

Susan 40-ish....
hometown: pensacola, florida

our three kids: leaving them at home....hope we can get over the guilt...

:teacher: Teachers and those that like them, what would you think of a little adult-only party during the cruise to honor those in the teaching profession? As I stated before, our cabin has a huge veranda (half the aft) & is perfect for just that. DinghyDeb

Just wanted to see if this "event" for teachers ever materialized...?

plus you can add us to the sailing list if you'd like:

stevenpensacola age 46
susanpensacola age yes
kids: leaving them at home!

I will update the sailing list, but probably not until later tonight when my daughter goes to bed since looks like there are lots of additions to be made to the list and I want to get everyone's room correct. Since I am sitting inside of a Shane's Ribshack avoiding the work I should be doing. I will also add Stevefrompensacola.

As for the cruisemeet I will let Lisa and CHuck correct me if I am wrong, but I thought we had discussed Deck 10 above the Goofy Pool portside prior to the sailaway party.

As for the T-shirts I think it is a great idea, but there were several people who mentioned their traveling mates may not be too into DIS stuff. So I did not bother to suggest shirts. I can create a design that can be printed out onto an iron on transfer and it can be put onto a Green (or whatever color we choose) shirt if there is interest. Also some suggestions of what people want. It can be as simple as DISNEY MAGIC with characters or the actual magic inside the letters or I can get fancy if you prefer.

Deb,
My dd talked to a friend today. They are going to try to find out the answer to your Palo question and email me. Now that may take sometime since they use their computer in places like St. Maarten where there is free Wi-Fi or when they have minutes on their card.

Okay back to work. Glad people got their room assignments. To whoever was not thrilled with Deck 1. We had friends on Deck 1 when we traveled a year ago. It was not as bad as they thought it would be and they were far forward. Noise only woke them once as the shipped turned.
