03/01/2008 Eastern!!

Hey for those of you whom are on "The Tink's Unofficial Guide to DCL" e-mail list, check your e-mails... It is a SHORT message there for you. Well running for last minutes....:hippie:

Just wanted to add a quick :welcome: :welcome: to BCC and his family as well to any others that are new to the boards, that I haven't yet welcomed :)

Our board has been a lot quieter lately...everyone is busy getting ready for our big sail away party that will be happening 7 days from NOW!!!!!
Can't Wait!!!!!

Looking forward to meting everyone!!!!!!

Happy packing to all today...
and Rani....take a nap for us today PLEASE LOL!!!

Brenda :)

Yeah, way too quiet on this board. Okay, the packing is 90% done. I take the DW to Detroit tomorrow for her seminar. Still watching the weather for next Friday's flight out.

DW has already calculated the drive time just in case the plane can't leave in time. May not be a NASCAR fan, but I may be qualifying if the plane can't tak:scared1: e off.

I snuck Desitin in the suitcase. For those that may not know, it is almost pure zinc oxide and VERY water proof. When I was a lifeguard, zinc oxide is what we put on our noses (the white stuff). I went to find it when the kids were little, and couldn't. My DS was burned pretty bad by the sun and I happened to be using the Desitin on my DD (baby at the time) and read the ingredient label. SHOCK, it was just what we needed. I put it all over DS's back (he didn't know what it was - and I didn't tell him) stayed on for 3-4 hours giving a high sun block. Okay, he had a white back, but he was able to swim.

Never hurts to know a little chemistry in a pinch.

Now, anybody have any other tips.

Take Care,
John

Hey everyone! How the heck are you all? I have stuff all over the spare room, suitcases, shoes, stomach stuff, dressy stuff, casual stuff. Oh my gosh - I've got to unpack and repack again tomorrow for a dry run!

The list is up to 89 DIS members. I hope to run into a bunch of you. But please, if you see me resting on deck 4 on my favorite chair...beware...never disturb a sleeping dog.

Check your emails - I'm sending out another version of the list.

Safe travels everyone. I'll give a shout out again in the week.

Kim :goodvibes

Is it true on Disney that you can carry on beer and wine for your trip? I know that you must pay a cork fee in the dining room but I'd rather bring a better bottle of wine to the dining room and pay the fee, than spend the same amount of money total for a regular bottle. If you know, please let me know!! Thanks

We've bubble-wrapped our wine before and placed in luggage. You are only charged the corking fee if you're bringing it to dinner for your server to open and then having them store it. We've opened ours in our cabin and our steward kept it chilled for us in the ice bucket. Just pour a glass and bring it to dinner, if you'd like. There's no fee when you do that. I have seen people near the pools with their own bucket of beer that the CMs have filled with ice for them. I'm not sure how they get that on - I think you can purchase it near port and carry it on. I'd be afraid to check my alcohol as a baggage and have it stolen but maybe someone will comment on that when reading my response. I wouldn't say DCL will encourage anyone to bringing your own beverage but yes, there are people who do this.

Hope this helps.

Kim :wave2:

Hey BCC - we are not on this trip but were going to be so I still check in on my almost-cruisemates every day. :wave2:

We've brought a whole bunch of stuff on board since we've flown in two days early and gone to the liquor store in FLA the day before. You can either carry it in bags or in a soft-side cooler but NO ICE before you board. There are lots of signs of "no alcohol" in the terminal but no one enforces them.

And as Kim said, the room steward will give you ice as many times as you want, and a wine glass or whatever. Bring your own corkscrew (NOT in your carry-on!!!) or buy one in FLA too with your liquor. Then pour yourself a glass and bring it to dinner. :drinking:

Enjoy your trip. Wish I were there!

Hello all:wave2:

I need help. My FIL decided today that he wants to book an excursion for all 15 of us at St. Maarten. And, he wants me to plan it :scared:

Does anyone know anything about the Afternoon Beach Bash? I can't seem to find much about it, so I'm thinking that it's somewhat new. :confused3
He wants something for the beach with maybe Banana Boat Rides, etc. :beach:

This is just the stress I needed 5 days before we leave :crazy2:

Hello everybody! I am a very latecomer to this thread, but my family and I will be on the 3/1 Eastern cruise. It will be DH, DD10 and me, plus my Dmom, Ddad, Dsis, her hubby and Dnephews 5 and 6.

I've become a cruise maniac in the last few days, studying Navigators online, making shirts, looking into making magnetic signs, etc. I've even starting packing a little.

Hope to see some of you on the cruise and make some new friends.

Happy sailing!!

I am soooo sorry, I actually went back to this post and all of the ones after and still did not catch your name. I have stopped printing off Kim's list until Wednesday as it seems to be changing everyday....:crazy2: Sorry I have not made all the new people connections. It is late and I have still not packed.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Okay, the reason I truly am posting in connection to you is because I just came across your bedspread thread. I did not want to post it on that thread as I do not have time to argue nor do I want to start something on a "more viewed thread". I just want you to know, that I know for a fact they do NOT change the bedspreads from a personal exsperience. Even if you ask, they will not guarentee you it is a fresh laundried one... I will not go into details here. If you are bothered by it, just have them remove it. This is what we do and it has worked. If you do not want them to think you are a little anal, just remove it after the life boat drill and tell your stateroom host you prefer for them not use it...

To all of you, those I know from last year and those who I only have met here on the thread: Have a Great Cruise. I will be thinking of you all, especially Kim & Norm, and Brenda & Family. I can't believe it has been a year almost.

needacruz aka Jackie,

I giggled when I read that excursion. That excursion will take you to Orient Beach. That's the nudie beach sweetie. It's a nice beach. tktstjohn and our family went there last February - with our youngins - they behaved better than I did! They got an education and so did I. Let's just say this...if I wanted to see my Grandparents...

Seriously, Orient Beach is a nice beach but you can do this excursion on your own a heck of a lot cheaper. Get off the ship - walk to the taxi stop and arrange the 15 of you to be taken to the 'family portion' of Orient Beach. It's tame there but keep in mind - if you want to use the public but very clean facilities - you're gonna see bootie and hootie and then some. When getting dropped off we asked the taxi to pick us up and they did come back. No fish in this water. No shells. Pretty beach but IMHO, don't bring snorkel equipment. (tktstjohn Kim - there was one hunka-hunka who wasn't 50/60, right?)

Now, if you want to pay DCL to take you on that excursion please don't listen to my opinion. Sometimes convenience will overrule saving money.

Have a great time and feel free to keep asking questions!

Kim

Kim,

Sometimes you write things that make me crack up and your intonations about the beach made me giggle!:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

Thanks for the info Kim. How embarassing that would be for me

I can just hear the whole family now :lmao: I would never hear the end of it :rolleyes2

I don't know why they like to leave me in charge of this stuff :confused3

Anyway, only 5 more days :jumping1:

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: I"M PACKED!!!!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Bags are packed minus toiletries for the morning. Printed info sheets, and have put them in the folder, which is in the bag by the door. Cameras are charged and ready. One dollar bills (for room service tipping) have been procured. I do have a couple of things to pick up at a Walgreens while in Florida, but nothing huge. Tomorrow morning I have to tan and then buy food for DH's car trip Thursday. A little time will be spent delivering the last of the Girl Scout cookies. Then it's off to the airport. I've already checked in and printed boarding passes. The girls are clueless!!!!!! My parents will be here in the a.m. to "pick up our stuff so that they can get the car packed for the drive Thursday." We are then all going to go meet with DH for lunch. Little do they know that lunch is going to be at a restaurant by the airport, so that everyone can see their faces when they finally figure out that we are getting on a plane and going to DISNEY WORLD!!

I can't wait to meet all of you Saturday:flower3: :flower3: ! I can not believe that we are finally here !!

I'm sure that I will be checking in once more before we leave, but just in case I don't get time I am wishing pixiedust: pixiedust: safe and easy travels to all of you !!:moped::drive: :moped: :drive:

Thank You to everyone for making the last months counting down :hourglass :hourglass to the cruise soooo much fun!

Jennifer

Jennifer! Thanks for the pixie dust. I sent you a new DIS list so you can print a new one. I only changed amandaC. :)
Say hi to Mickey for me - tell him we're right behind you. We leave on Friday morning and will be staying at BCV. We've got another storm of snow, sleet and rain coming in tonight so just sitting in a chair by the pool Friday afternoon would suit me fine.

Be safe my friend. I'll see you soon. We need to get a new picture of you and I with the Magic in the background.

Kim (and Norm and Josh!)

Safe travels Fieste...
How exciting, can't wait to hear what the girls did when they figured out your BIG surprise!!!!!

We will see you on Saturday!!!!!
