02 Cool misters - be careful!!

I had a little "incident" at home last night with our new 02 mister (the keychain kind with the carabiner). DD5 was trying it out, and as soon as I turned around she had it tangled in her long hair! Her hair is waist length. Thank goodness it was only on the side and wasn't too bad, but I did end up cutting a fairly good sized knot out of her hair. I also found out too late that the fan blades actually come off the unit, which might have helped save a bit more of her hair. We tried using "no tangles" spray and even put her in the shower with loads of conditioner, but the knot was really stuck.

Anyhow, just a warning to everyone who has kids with long hair....be careful!

Oh my gosh, I'm SO SORRY!!!! That is the WORST. I hope she wasn't too tramatized! All my sisters and I had long hair as children...especially my little sister, down past her bum...she got her hair caught in a toy windmill once when she was 3. Mom was able to get it out, but after that she was forbidden to leave her bedroom without her hair up in a ponytail or in a braid.

THANK YOU for the warning! My step daughter to be wants one of these, and while her hair is cut in a chin length bob she can get it to her mouth which means she could potentially get it caught in a fan! I will definitely keep an eye out!

My DD did the same thing with a little foam light up fan from WDW! We had to cut it out of her hair. Another word of warning about the mist fans. Make sure you dump out the H2O and refill it fresh everyday. There was an article in our paper a little while ago. Some children got ill at a spray park and they also mentioned some summer tips....one was to make sure you rinse out the sprayers so no bacteria can grow. They didnt say they were unsafe or anything they just were reminding people to rinse them out and refill.

We had the same thing with me and my long hair. Can't remember how, but I kept telling 7 yr old to be careful. I had the o2 larger mister. For the kids I brought them mister at the Disney store (similiar to the ones at disney) and I did notice the fans blades did not have as much space, and I don't think It would have happened with this kind.
