02/27/2014 Dream

We just booked a GTY cabin for this cruise. Any way we can join the list. It is only the 2 of us adults. Only problem is we don't know what our room number is yet. If it is too late that is ok to as I am not worried about receiving but I would love to spread some magic to others.

Thanks
Diana

Anyone planning to run the 5K at Castaway? I did it last year (was my first ever race) and am looking forward to a repeat.

Hi there~~ this will be my first 5K so if you have any info to share, I'd love to hear. I typically walk/run 4-7 miles at least 5 days a week (mostly to get body back in shape after kids). I still have a ways to go, but on the way and doing well. Youngest is turning 8, so it is about time!

I plan on doing the 5K and if it doesn't make me crazy I may do it twice (we are doing back to back cruises so we'll has 2 days at CC!)

I feel crazy asking this because I'm sure my questions have been answered already... But is it too late to join? And do you give gifts everyday/night? How will you know how many people are participating? I obviously never done this. This trip is a surprise for our 6 year old daughter, but I think she'll love to participate in something like this.

Sounds like you are in much better shape than most of us. Last year there was probably about 20-30 people that participated. It is about a one mile walk from the boat to the start line and you basically do a 1.5 mile track and then turn around and reverse it back to the end. They do have a few water stops (if it was like when I did it you will need it due to the heat/humidity). They run a clock but you don't have any timing chip. They give you a bib for a souvenir and a plastic mickey ear medal at the end. Some people walked the entire thing. Nice thing about doing the 5K is that you (and your family) get to be the first people off the boat when it docks so you can claim some prime beach spots. You can drop kids off at the kids club on the island while you run or all the characters will be coming out for photos. They do have a place you can leave a bag during the run.

Not to late to join. I have updated the google doc with the information you sent me. Please check it out. Here are the guidelines that we are following:

SUGGESTED guidelines for our fish extender:
1. Each cabin is to provide AT LEAST one gift to each cabin participating in the fish extender. You can provide a gift to each person within that cabin, just the kids, or one gift for the whole cabin...that is up to you. Of course, you are welcome to give more than one gift...but the minimum is one.
2. All gifts are to be delivered between the cruise leaving port on Thursday, February 27th until 4 PM on Saturday, March 1st. This gives people time to still be able to pack their bags on March 1st before we leave the ship the morning of March 2nd.
3.Please include a tag with your DISboards user name on the gift. This way everyone knows who the gift is from.

The last day to sign up is Sunday Feb. 2nd so you will have the final count for our cruise then. As of right now there are 16 cabins with a total of 55 people signed up. Any other questions let me know and I will try and answer them. SO EXCITED!!!!!

So I put this on the facebook page too but I am in contact with Disney to possibly do a private mixology session.

Mixology is a session in the afternoon in a bar to learn how to make mixed drinks. You will get to try up to 5 drinks per person and it costs $15. If you search, you will see it has gotten great reviews. I have not been to one as I havent been on DCL before but it sounds great.

Please let me know if you are interested. We are looking at the afternoon of Nassau day.

HAHAHA - I am definitely not in my best shape (and hence my apprehension)... but man was I glad to hear some people walk!!! I figured it was quite a walk from the ship (which I've read on other posts too). I get into my "pre-vaca" workout mode at 2-3 months prior to departure... I don't do the 4-7 miles every month, just Dec - Feb. I need to get another 20 lbs off. But I think I can do this!!!!!!

You gave me great info... thank you soooo much!! I wasn't sure if kids or hubby could get off ship with me and now I know. I hope they want to watch me (expire!) or go to the kid's club which they LOVE!! Serenity beach will be calling my name!

We had a woman last year that wanted to "steal" our hammocks while we went for a leisurely stroll on Serenity Bay Beach last year... so odd for a Disney Cruise.. but we got the best of it and KEPT our spot!!! HAHAHA

Never turn down a good mixing class....

Hey there Disney family...

This is my first cruise solo (wife passed away Oct 2 from her 7year battle of Cancer) This would've been our 21st Anniversary...

We celebrated our 20th on the Fantasy and renewed our vows on the ship the day of our actual anniversary (Feb 12).

I am cruising cause that is what we have always done together. Hope to see you all there.

I heard from DCL. They can do a class at 2 or 4 pm on Nassau day. We need 25 to make it work and I have 16 right now. If anyone else is interested, let me know either here or on the facebook page.

Hi Diana-- count us in if there are enough wanting to join!!

(Kevin and Stacie Higgins).

Unfortunately we didn't get enough people for the private mixology. Make sure to sign up once you get on the boat.

Cweary - what is your room and family details? I know the FE is closed but I have a few extra things and others might too.
