01/02/10- Mickey's New Decade Brigade!

We have been on two previous cruises and have always dressed up for formal night. The first cruise my daughter and I wore long dresses, my husband and sons wore suits. The second cruise my daughter wore her prom dress and I wore a black tea length dress. My husband wore his suit and my son wore his Sea Cadet Dress Whites. My little one wore his Easter clothes. Slacks, white shirt and tie with a vest. This cruise DD and I are back to long dresses. DH and sons are in suits. Our dinner companions also dressed formally. The DH was in his full Navel officer dress whites, DW and their DD's wore pretty dresses. I hope that helps.

I'm w/Secretkeeper...DD wore her prom dress (& a little fairy, named Katie, did her hair like a princess'), I wore a long dress, DH wore a dark suit/tie and DS, then 12, wore a black slacks, black jacket, black shirt and red tie (he picked everything out and looked pretty spiffy, but I have to say he looked like he walked out of a godfather movie :rotfl:). Some really dressed up and some not so much so it's really flexible. We had fun with it tho and it makes for a special picture you may not normally have taken. DD and I will be doing long dresses again this year!

Thanks for the information. I have a formal Christmas party every year with my company, so DH and I have formal attire. However, he wears a suit and not a Tux so just wanted to be sure on that. As to the children, my 6 year old DD is probably as excited about the idea of wearing a formal dress as she is going on the cruise. My 3 yr old DD, well she is 3. I just wanted to get an idea of what others were planning to be sure we were ready.

I am starting to think packing already and not sure how I will get everything there.

Another question. I have been reading about upgrading at port. How does that impact FE and Magnet stuff? We are interested in possibly upgrading, especially since my parents are coming along and we have 2 cat 9 cabins right now.

Hi Jenni- I'm not positive about this, so this is probably a good question for the main DCL thread since I'm sure upgrading happens all the time. But I do remember seeing a picture one time from a DISer, they made a new magnet sign that said "The Jones' haved moved to 7110" or whatever...they put this on the room door that they were originally supposed to be in, so that those doing the FE would know where their new room was. I guess they just brough a spare magnet and wrote in the new number when they got it at the port. That is the only way I could think of updating everyone, to put a note on the original room door, because once we're all on this ship, there would be no way to reach everyone again with an updated room. But maybe you can ask on the main forum and see if this is what others recommend?

Have you been able to respond to PMs yet, or are you still short on posts? Hope to hear from you soon to sign up for the FE exchange : )

Stressed out. Should be excited re: booking soon. DH was in a car accident yesterday and is in severe pain. Very lucky though. All he had was cracked ribs, bruises and swelling to arms, and hand. One nasty bruise starting mid-sternum. Thank God for airbags. Will know tomorrow but it looks like car will likely be written off. So may need to buy a new car before trip yet. As insurance will likely only cover 75% of new replacement value. I don't care though. At least it wasn't worse, and no one else hurt. Work stressing me out as well. Sorry, just needed to vent. :sad2::sad1:

Omg! So glad that your DH will be okay...he'll be in our prayers for a speedy recovery :flower3: What you both need is a Disney Cruise...oh wait, you're going on one! :thumbsup2 Hang in there, just keep thinking that in about 3 mounths the Magic will be waiting to sail you away from all your stress and what better place to help your DH rest and heal?! :goodvibes

Sorry to hear that! Atleast you will be all healed up before your vacation! Hope your DH is feeling better soon!! :)
Also, don't stress at work, if you can put a DCL background on your computer and pretend you are in paradise! (Until Jan, of course)

MontanaMouse, that would be awesome! DD will be so excited to meet someone before the cruise. I still can't PM, but am getting close.

Thanks ladies for the clarification on the 4th vs the 19th. I would have been up at midnight trying.

How formal is the formal night? Will DH be OK in a suit? What do the kids normally wear for that? How about the Semis?

We were on the Magic this May and formal night was so much fun! There was everything from shorts and sandals (all ages) to formal floor length dresses and tuxes. Even the characters you can get pictures with are in "formal" costumes. It's very cute. I wouldn't miss dressing up just for the fun of it. Some little girls wore princess dresses, and it was adorable. Many men wore suits because they did not have tuxes, and they were just fine. DH plans on wearing a suit for semiformal night. Some men just wore ties and button down shirts. or a jacket. It's all up to you how far you want to go. Any kind of nice dress/skirt/pants is perfectly acceptable. The same goes for semi-formal night. Just go comfortable, and have fun!

Oh my goodness! I know how absolutely terrible rib pain can be. I'll make sure to keep you all in my prayers! Thankfully we have a few months before the trip so he can have some time to get to feeling better!

Guys, it's getting so close! A few months ago it seemed like it was so far away that it would never come, but I'm getting super excited now! :D My parents are actually going to Disney World on Sunday for a mini-vacation... and leaving me at home! :confused3

WDW Princess 71 - yes it was me about the shirts. We should be getting something soon - her boyfriend came home on leave from Iraq for a couple of weeks so she'd been busy spending some time with him.

Sara- thanks for the update about the shirts! That is wonderful that your friend has time with her boyfriend home from Iraq for a couple of weeks- the tshirts can definitely take a back seat to that!

And I agree, I can't believe how close it is getting. Almost time for our Palo bookings for us CC members! Has anyone decided what day they are planning to do Palo for yet? I mean of course I'll take whatever is available...I just mean, if you had a choice of any night, what night of "main dining" are you planning to skip for Palo and why? I'm still undecided...

Morning All!

Cruise is PAID!!! Whoooo hoooo :cool1: It's so painless to just click of that mouse (no pun inteded :rotfl:) and poof, you're paid; wish it were that easy to actually earn the $$! Oh well, it's worth every penny to spend a glorious week on the Magic :yay: We are off to Cali today for the first annual Disney Lacrosse Tournament in Cali today...very appropriate, huh :thumbsup2. We're excited but we'll probably still be on the field when it's time to book excursions and stuff so I'm bringing my laptop so I'm ready to go at 9pm no matter where I am!

Hope everyone that's able to book tomorrow gets the excursions and reservations they want :goodvibes

Karen - Hope your hubby is feeling better?

Gotta go wake my DS up for school and then my crazy day begins!
:wizard:

Thanks Jenni, I added both your family and your parents information to the FE spreadsheet.

Also just a reminder, I'm still missing information from a few people for the FE list, please refer to post #219 if you haven't checked it already to see if it applies to you, thanks!

I'll put ya'll on my magnet list!

Also... what time does booking open tomorrow for Castaway Club members? Midnight? Six? I'll just check it on the hour every hour if I don't get a reply - it's no big deal. I just want to get Palo!

Booking opens at 12:00 Midnight Eastern time on October 4...aka in a little less than an hour and a half from now! I'm so excited to book!

Well, we got Palo brunch, dinner, and high tea (one each sea day)! Yay! I thought it would be a bit harder to get times I wanted and that the site would be slow, but it wasn't at all. I also went ahead and booked our excursions.

:woohoo:

I hope everyone else got what they wanted!

Hey Sara, I was amazed how fast and easy it was this time too! It seemed like every time slot was available for all the things I wanted...I remember when doing my Wonder cruise plans for January 2009, when I logged in at the 90 day mark there were times already booked...so this was a pleasant surprise! I booked our Palo brunch for the second sea day (Monday), Palo dinner for Wednesday (we have to be on board from St. Thomas by 4:30 and I made our ressie for later, so we won't be rushed), and the jet ski excursion on Castaway Cay. I really hope we get to do it this time- on my January cruise it was too windy so the jet ski excursion was cancelled, along with most of the other activities on the water. January is usually the most windy month at CC. Of course just as long as we can dock will be good enough for me, but I sure would love to get to do the jet skis this time too...I have my own waverunner at home but its not like the water in NJ is clear blue, nor is there a beautiful ship, the Flying Dutchman, and endless palm trees around!

After a few tense moments of not connecting to the web :scared1: (good thing I started before 9pm just in case) all fell into place and I was ready to go :thumbsup2. Was able to get everything I was hoping for :yay:. We're doing lots more, excursion wise, than we did on the Mex. Riv. itinerary so I'm really excited! It'll be the first time snorkeling too...not worried about my daughter..she is part fish...but hopefully I'll catch on quick and not swallow a gallon or so of sea water

Hey everyone!
Sorry to say, but we've booked another date. You all sound like wonderful people and I hope you have a marvelous cruise. :) Happy Cruising!

*please remove us from the FE and magnet exchange!*

I have been buried by work but thought I would take a mini vacation and catch up here. We were fortunate enough to get all of our Palo times and excursions as well.

Karen I am so sorry to hear about your husband. I pray he heals fast!

We just got bad news. DH broke his foot 5 weeks ago and it isn't healing. He now has to be casted for 6 weeks and if that doesn't work, pins and plates

Then DD twisted her ankle two weeks ago. We took her two the doctor who ordered a MRI because she had torn ligaments 5 years ago. Well, we got the results today and she has torn the tendon as a result of the ligaments not ever healing correctly 5 years ago. Now we have surgery next week for that one. She will be casted and no weight bearing for 6 weeks then a boot after that however she will be healed and unbooted just prior to the cruise :cheer2:

When it rains, it pours!

I think we need a Disney Cruise!

Oh no. That is terrible too. I agree, when it rains it pours. Talking about weather, we have had rain for 7 days now, and it turned to snow this afternoon for a while.

Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers with DH accident. He still has very sore ribs on the Rt. side. He also had a lung contusion, and along with it shortness of breath, etc. He is still unable to lay down, he sleeps in the lazy boy.

I was so disappointed I haven't booked any of my reservations yet for Palo or excursions. The money that I was going to make my final payment went towards a replacement car. So will now make my final payment just before it is due. I hope I will still get in on a fishing excursion and parasailing at castaway. But if I don't, guess it was not meant to be.

Have started my FE shopping  I am so looking forward to this cruise.

Anyways Happy Thanksgiving to you all, it is Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada this coming weekend so will spending time with family. Before you know it, the rest of you will be celebrating in November.

Pixie Dust to everyone. Karen
