007 James Bond prom ideas???

I am incharge of prom this year, and our theme is 007: License to Party. The invitations are little file folders that say "for your eyes only" and the tickets are secret agent i.d. badges. We are going for a very modern, suave, sleek look. I want the ballroom to look like the ice castle in Die Another Day. Does anyone have any creative ideas for centerpieces (I want something very modern, maybe lighted), decorations, entrance decorations, placecards, etc.????? We are not allowed to have any references to martini glasses or weapons. Also, I have been trying to find those tall spandex columns to rent, but the only place that I found that had them rented them for $150 a piece (way out of our budget). Does anyone know where I could find them???

Wow, gotta say thats a pretty cool idea, let me think on that one. I guess some of the major Bond images are the various bond cars, The first I think was an Astin Martin, then the Lotus.

One idea is to use the thing they always use at the beginning of the bond films, the shot is from the scope site, then bond comes into site and is walking sideways, suddenly turns and shoots, then the scope site round thing morphes into the first shot of the film, you know maybe you can use that somehow.

Maybe the centerpeice can be a golden hot chick like out of Goldfinger? Dunno just spit balling at the moment. Emmmm, let me think on this one and I'll get back to you.

My son, who graduated last year, said it might be cool to have the prom picture back drop done up like the gun sillouette picture you see at the beginning of the movies.

Yeah I was looking at Bond images that opening shot is from actually looking down a gun barrel.

The only problem with this is most Bond images either involve Smoking, drinking, gambling, womanizing and killing so that's going to be tough.

I still like the idea of using the golden chick maybe.

Do you have any of the prom decoration magazines? You can order the make your own columns and some other decorations there for not too terribly much.

the car is cute in this pic and would help with the theme since everyone thinks about Bond's cars.

I'm still looking at other webistes and magazines but buying piecemeal is a good way to save money or just looking to see what you could reproduce for cheaper.

What about setting up picture sites around the room that Prom is in? My Senior prom had something to do with goign around the world, so there were 5 or 6 backgrounds that represented different places. That way, the couples could go around the room and take pictures of each other in front of them. (This was seperate from the ones you pay for). You could have ones representing some/all of the Bond movies.

Yeah, I know, but its just too good to pass up! No one will be able to use it again for a thousand years (3007)!
