I always stop using the Disney Visa for a while before I use it to pay for a trip. That way it's the only thing on it. This time it was more last minute, and I have other things on the card besides our trip, purchased before I knew we were going to book one. If I pay everything but the amount of the trip, will they apply it to the other purchases?

Or will they apply it to the vacation package, and continue charging interest on the other stuff till it's all paid off?

There was a discussion about this not too long ago and some said it goes to the trip first and others said it didn't.
Well I can tell you from my experience that it goes toward the trip first. We also have a balance on our card. I put my $200 deposit down for our package and also made a payment towards the trip. Both had gone under the vacation promo. The statements for our card shows that there is nothing owed under the vacation promo so payments that we have made on our card must have gone towards paying off the trip first.

It goes to the trip first and you continue to pay interest on the other items. My DH asked when he charged our trip to the card.

The promo is 0% interest, not 0 payment, for 6 months. If you pay in full each month, you have to pay all of the charges plus some of the promo balance. We always have thousands on our card each month, always pay it off and have never had the payment go to the promo first.

Guess I'll find out. At least the other charges are $200, so the interest won't be alot. I have the money in ING, but wanted to leave it in there 6 more months!

They seperated the charges on our Visa bill and it's interest free for 6 months on the trip part. We did pay it off the following month, but paid no interest the first month.

I've done this many, MANY times.

The payments are applied the new purchases first and then any extra is credited to the trip. The only time that it gets applied to the promotional rate would be if you to make a mid-cycle payment on the account.

Just wanted to chime in that I've had the same experience as aka-mad4themouse - my payments went to the new (non-Disney trip) purchases. At the moment I actually have two Disney trip purchases, the deposit and final payment, and since the payments posted in different months they're listed separately in the "Qualifying promotional financing" section, one with an expiration date of 2/2010 and one with 3/2010. I was worried about this issue too, and was delighted to find out that it worked this way.

I have always paid my "purchases" balance in full each month and sent in a tiny bit extra towards the 0%. I have always had the entire balance removed and the little extra put towards the 0%. I have never paid interest on the 0% promotionals as have always had them paid in full beofre the date the offer expires.
