☆☆ The Official October 2016 Thread ☆☆

Wild Africa Trek is so worth it! Went on it during this past year's trip!!!!! Just amazing! The most incredible WDW experience I have ever had.

Wow! Thanks for the review! I think we'll probably do it. Can it be booked online or do you have to call?

& I also want to try school bread! We mostly go during F&W and so I never save room for it or even remember it with all the booths.. :(

On room service... this will be our first deluxe stay and I've read room service is 24/7? After our 2AM MK EMH last October.. we arrived back to Pop STARVED with nothing open!!! We had twizzlers and pretzels for dinner that we had in the room! HAHA. I think a little 2AM room service would be a fun treat.

We just changed our dates a little and now we will be going October 21-23 at universal and the 23-29th in the beach club villas.

You need to call to book it. They also require full payment at time of booking. There are several different times they offer it throughout the day. Take the earliest you can! Our guide said that the animals are all really active in the mornings.

School Bread is one of my favorite Disney treats!!! But we have been going during F&W and we always start in Canada! So, by the time I reach Norway, I am waaaaay too full (and probably a too tipsy) to eat anything else!

Room service is 24/7, I believe. We were SOOOOOOOO hungry after our late nights during our last trip to POP!!!!! That's one of my favorite perks of the Deluxe resorts! ;)

I'm so happy! I finally locked down the campgrounds at the Ft for the days we'll be there! We've got a whole big group of 10 (and possibly more). Im just excited we were able to lock in the campgrounds because my boyfriend and I were gonna cover the costs of the 'hotel' for one of my friends family to celebrate her beating cancer, and her son's first time at Disney!

Im trying to think of any really special things we could do with them, maybe a meal in the castle?

MNSSHP? Dessert Party? The dress up like a pirate experience (I forget the name)?

The meal in the castle is all princesses and I think it's pretty expensive - I'd find out his favorite characters and see if there is a character meal for that.

MNSSHP was already on the agenda. I wish they had the dates posted. This is my first time planning a trip this far out and I'm having a hard time figuring out what days we should do what park without that knowledge.
Are you referring to Pirates League? I'll have to bring that up to his mom, maybe he and the guys can do it.

I really should make out a roster for this convoluted party lol. The meal in the castle is for all the ladies and the celebration for his mom. Maybe if we let him do the pirates thing before/after, he'll be willing to suffer through it.

Yep - Pirate League *L*

Sadly I'm in the same boat as far as planning our days out because everything will revolve around MNSSHP - but I don't make my ADR's until April 5th

I have my list(s) of Must-Do's on my PTR in my signature. I think our list just keeps getting longer & longer.

Sadly, our MNSSHP plans may change depending on whether or not they lift the ban on adult costumes. For DH & I, part of the fun was dressing up & trick-or-treating and what's the fun in trick-or-treating if you're not in costume??

I'm not a costume person anyhow (last year I just wore normal clothes, but in orange and black), so this won't effect my choice to go to MNSSHP. The park just has a completely different look and feel during the party, which I love, so I'll definitely still attend. I will, however, very much miss seeing all the great adult costumes running around!

But honestly, I'd put good money that they'll end up lifting that ban for MNSSHP, and perhaps just say "No Full Face Masks" for the party, for security reasons (which makes total sense). They might even ban full face paint, as it still masks a persons identifying features. But I honestly don't see them telling people they can't come in costume for a HALLOWEEN party. Just my speculation, of course. :cutie:

We just identified our dates! 10/13/16 thru 10/18/16 4 granddaughters, 2 daughters, 2 son-in-laws, wife and myself. BLT or bust!

I really hope they lift the ban on adult costumes for MNSSHP - I've been looking forward to wearing my Tightrope Girl costume for years.

We'll still go to MNSSHP because my daughter wants to go, but it will make it less fun for me.

Our dates have not yet been finalized. We are thinking approximately October 28 through November 12. Would you please add me to the list?
Thank you!

This is the answer I got from Guest Services when I emailed

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort. At this time, guest 14 years and older are not permitted to wear costumes throughout any Theme Park. I would recommend checking closer to next years Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party dates to see if they have made an exception to this new policy.

So, we will unfortunately have to wait and see

That's to bad

I'm hoping that they make an exception for MNSSHP - sounds like they haven't made a final decision on that. I'm totally fine with no costumes for people over 14 on a normal basis.

right now just looking into heading down to Orlando for F&W and HP and that's it for October - can't do any more than that as my mom and I are both teachers. We both want to experience F&W and my aunt and my mom want to see the new HP expansion (I'll see it in a month!) but other than that we'd obviously love to do it all but cannot due to work. I'll be in my second year teaching but still can't really take the time for a full week ever now I guess.

I think we're looking into the weekend after columbus day. Unless Columbus day isn't busy but I'd assume it would be.
