☆☆ The Official October 2016 Thread ☆☆

right now just looking into heading down to Orlando for F&W and HP and that's it for October - can't do any more than that as my mom and I are both teachers. We both want to experience F&W and my aunt and my mom want to see the new HP expansion (I'll see it in a month!) but other than that we'd obviously love to do it all but cannot due to work. I'll be in my second year teaching but still can't really take the time for a full week ever now I guess.

I think we're looking into the weekend after columbus day. Unless Columbus day isn't busy but I'd assume it would be.
We've been there the week of Columbus Day and found it very manageable. October just isn't a "slow" month anymore, any week.

I'm gonna chime in belatedly (after searching the www for firm mnsshp costume rules) that IF that ban on adult costumes holds for MNSSHP, I will thoroughly reconsider my plans to visit WDW every October and at very minimum the extra event tickets which adds another $300 to our tab. Honestly, we spend that much per costume and I had big plans for this year to match my daughter now that she is 5 and its easier done. I planned to order my costumes early this year and really get it perfect (if we are Disney characters, we are obscure versions (last year I was peasant 2015 Cinderella). Some would have been handmade from disboards members who are incredibly talented- I can only imagine how this rule would be for business). Im not big on Halloween irl and I would never dress up just to go to a neighborhood party but somehow WDW is its own universe where some things seem like a great idea that I don't/won't do irl. And we all pay heftily for this alternate reality. From the disney luggage, the dooney bags, the charm bracelets- that I only use on Disney trips, losing the all year anticipation and costume planning is a bitter pill to swallow. My fingers and toes are crossed that WDW (DL has already printed no costumes for their party) rethinks this for Halloween and does so quickly so I can get my costumes ordered. Otherwise, hmmm, Aulani would be lovely in October too.

This is the answer I got from Guest Services when I emailed

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.At this time, guest 14 years and older are not permitted to wear costumes throughout any Theme Park. I would recommend checking closer to next years Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party dates to see if they have made an exception to this new policy.

So, we will unfortunately have to wait and see
Thank You Eoywin. Sounds like a wait and see situation.

Does anyone want to post their list of must-do's?

Here's what I have so far:
1) Attend my 1st ever MNSSHP

2) Ride “Frozen” ride (should be open by my trip if they’re on schedule)

3) Eat at Biergarten

4) Drink around the world

5) Get the Fish N Chips in Epcot that I missed out on last month

6) ADR at Ohana

I really hope they lift the ban on adult costumes for MNSSHP - I've been looking forward to wearing my Tightrope Girl costume for years.

We'll still go to MNSSHP because my daughter wants to go, but it will make it less fun for me.

DH and I are up in the air as to whether we'll still go to MNSSHP if they don't lift the ban. We dressed up last time and had a blast. I even had my costume planned out for this year already. I'm guessing they'll wait to see how ticket sales are after the release date in April or May.

Booked 10/2-10/8 at POFQ. First trip with kids. Haven't been to WDW since I was pregnant with my son. We are taking our 9 year old (star wars obsessed) and 5 year old (princess obsessed). We have taken them to Disneyland a few times and on the Disney Dream last year. We are taking advantage of the Armed Forces pricing. We also purchased a dining plan.

Me and Kristie73 booked Oct 12-21 at POR. First time with FP+ but we are going for more days this time so we should be able to do everything we want and then some. We are also planning 1 day 2 parks at Universal on a Wednesday. Lots of time to plan but not being able to plan around FP+ right now is killing me. :)

FINALLY, some firm dates. I had a plan to go a bit more over the kids' fall break but DH's work is making him go to a conference. But we're still going so that's all that matters. Oct. 8-19 (hotels TBD), US and WDW, F&W and MNSSHP. And the kids have zero idea. :) We're planning on telling them when we get to the gate at the airport. And then we're only telling them about WDW. We'll tell them about US (DD is a HUGE Harry Potter fan) when we arrive at the hotel. We just put in for time off, I have a request in with a DVC rental agency for part of our stay and we'll see what we can get at the 7 month mark (other will be a free stay at a hotel thanks to DH's frequent travel and a US hotel), so it is starting to feel more real. Probably will buy tickets ahead of time from UT but just need to decide on that park hopper question for WDW. So far it is 12 days, 11 nights, 6 parks, 4 people, 3 hotels, 2 theme destinations, and hopefully 1 fabulous trip. Betting there's a partridge in there somewhere.

On our "to do"s, considering the following:
* Victoria & Albert's (for DH and I)
* MNSSHP
* Behind the Seeds tour (might be just for me and the kids)
* Exploring all of HP stuff at US
* Eating around the world for F&W
* Pick a Pearl in Japan (I know the kids will get the biggest kick out of that)
* Jedi training
* BOG lunch
* Ohana dinner and/or HDDR dinner. DD will adore Ohana and DS will love HDDR.
* TRex Café dining -- DS loves dinosaurs!

Picking those ADRs is going to be a killer! There are so many places I want to try but I don't want to overload our schedule with ADRs so trying to be choosy.

:) We will! We were bouncing back and forth on deciding to stay at Pop or AoA. So we will definitely check both out while there...especially with all the theming stuff that the kiddos will love

Add me to the list. Going September 27- October 2. Going to be staying at the Yacht Club.

Our dates are finalized - at least the arrival date. Please add us to the list arriving October 30 and departing sometime around Nov 15 or so. Our first 7 nights will probably be Pop Century, the next 7 nights will be off-site at a time share and then the remainder of nights, I am hoping to rent DVC points. So excited to think about planning this trip. The initial part of the trip will include myself, DH, DS and DS's GF. I am hopeful our older son will be able to join us for the end of our trip. Please add me to the October 2016 trip planning thread.

October 22 - October 29, 2016, Beach Club Resort

Thanks!

You can add us! 10/29 to 11/5/2016. Staying at POFQ for 2nd time. This will be our 6th trip and our first MNSSHP. We did our first MVMCP this past November and loved it! We are looking forward to spending Halloween at Disney. We don't have any "must dos" though besides the party. After 6x, we take a more relaxed view to a Disney World vacation. In November, we had a great time at the parks but also enjoyed our down time away...visiting resorts, Disney Springs, the pool.... and plan to do the same this time. Very excited!
