“Unlocking door(s)” to resort before arrival

This is new to me…do you have to be physically close for it to work? What doors are they talking about? Your room? This is the message I’m getting when I try:

Yes. You need to be by the door to open it. Like, your phone basically need to be touching the contact pad. It’s essentially the same as the plastic key card many hotels use now.

It will work for your room once your room is ready. It will also work for resort gates like at the pool and exterior property gates prior to your room being ready.

It requires contact with the door. It will unlock resort gates that lead to buildings with rooms (like the gate at the DLH near the Adventure tower), the pool gates, the fitness center, laundry room, and Club Level lounges.
