Generally, I’d file it under nickle & dime’ing folks. However, many do visit on a tight budget, thought to bring this thread over JIK for planning purposes.

Appears Universal started charging Uber a $4 fee for drop offs/pick ups 10/21/19. It is naturally being passed along to the customers as a surcharge.
Not advocating it as the hotel entryways tend to be busy as it is but, did see it mentioned that a possible end-run around this would be to get dropped off at the onsite hotels. YMMV
U & WDW tend to follow each other on price increases, etc. Not a stretch to see it morphing over to the other parks too.
