ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

I missed that BOG, but that's ok. Just got word last night that Josh is being admitted today for five days of treatment. His antibodies have gone crazy and they feel now is the time to try to bring them down. We are 12 days away from leaving for vacation. We probably have about a 50/50 shot of getting to go. A lot will depend on how he tolerates his treatment and whether or not it works. Even more important than Disney is getting him healthy. THANK YOU to all of my friends here for being so supportive!! We will keep you posted!!!

Prayers said for Josh. I hope the new treatment works and he's feeling much better soon! Hang in there.

My MIL is going with us, and she doesn't ride roller coasters (BTMRR), anything that leaves the ground (like Dumbo), or anything with a drop (Splash). My kids are 10 and 7. Will they be able to ride together on a ride if I am also on the ride, but in the car/seat in front of them?

Do you mean will they allow two kids to sit together without an adult? If so, then yes. It's more about what you and your kids are comfortable with. Space Mountain is single rider rows and I rode that when I was 6 with my mom behind me.

Question - For those of you planning for groups, how do you get everyone on the same page? I was told yesterday that everyone in my party plans on sleeping in daily, and some are skipping park days entirely (we only have 4, with a break day in the middle). My kids are early risers so rope drop wouldn't be a problem for them, but keeping them quiet and occupied in the hotel room until everyone else wakes up would be.
It might just end up with me going out early on my own with the kiddos (which isn't anything different from normal daily life) and everyone else can catch up when/if they choose. That just doesn't sound like a "family" vacation to me.
Either way my kids and I are going to have a fantastic time, I just wanted to have a fantastic time with everyone else too!

I forgot are you staying on site? If you are then it's no big deal. Get up and do your thing, head to the park on the Disney bus/boat/monorail and have a blast. They can meet up with you later. I'm betting that after the first day, when they roll in at noon and you tell them that you've already done a whole bunch of cool stuff they will rethink sleeping in the next day. I suspect that each day will have different people getting up with you and others that choose to sleep in. I can understand the wanting to be together, but I also wouldn't want anyone dragging me down. It might be easier to try to arrange specific things to do together rather than the entire trip. All ride the same ride or see the same show or eat at the same places at the same time.

If you're staying off site and are limited by transportation that's another thing. You could always take a cab or you could hang at the pool while they are getting ready. Some off site hotels have a shuttle too so that might be an option.

Good luck! We're going to be dealing with this next year I think so I'm curious to hear how it goes.

I would do exactly what you said--head out with your kids and everybody else can catch up. I think that would be the happiest solution for everybody. Your family can enjoy their sleep while your excited kids can enjoy the sights and attractions. I would get really irritated really fast if I had to wait for multiple people to wake up while I wanted to head to the parks! Make ADRs for family dinners.

I agree, head out on your own. Sad for them to miss out on all the fun of being at rope drop. Enjoy your vacation with your kids!

Head out on your own. Last year we went with 11 people. We were always waiting for someone. It wasn't too bad since the kids were all over 20 so if we didn't want to wait we didn't have to

I missed getting to the parks before they opened so dh and I are going again at the end of the month. We can't wait.

I would say go to rope drop if your kids are up and ready for it. Everyone else can meet you somewhere, a ride, lunch, dinner whatever works best. I certainly wouldn't want to miss rope drop if my family was ready for it. Two years ago I went with 9 people. The first day my family got up for rope drop and they stayed to sleep. Every day after that they all woke for rope drop. I think they realized what they missed out on.

I finally have my internet back up and running. :cool1: We didn't have internet access at home for about 2 weeks while we were moving. So good to use my own computer and not use family and friends.

:cool1: 37 DAYS AND COUNTING!!! :cool1:

(I can't figure out how to multi quote from my phone! Haha) I'm hoping it's a one day deal and they realize we've already accomplished a ton! They plan to head to the parks at lunch, exactly when I plan to head back to the resort so the kids can take a nap. I did schedule dinners together for 2 of the nights, and a a late breakfast for one morning, so at least then we'll all be together!
We are on site (AoA Cars Suite) so we'll have disney transportation. The 3 other adults in my group are either first timers or haven't been in 20 years so I really just think they're going to have a bit of a shock.

For those that didn't see it on the Facebook page:

The Tiki Room refurbishment has been cancelled! :woohoo:

Now if they'll just push back/cancel Muppet Vision 3D we'll be all set.

WOOOOO!!!! :cool1:

If only we could have Muppet Vision 3D and Jungle Cruise. My dad is pretty bummed about the loss of those two during our trip. As long as Country Bear Jamboree doesn't break down while we're there, though, we should be good - believe it or not, that's his favourite attraction.
