ª"˜˜ª¤.¸Team August 2013 Thread! (Part 2)¸.¤ª˜˜"ª&#9733

Ok once you select it goes to make changes page.
It offers change experience and change time.

It will not let change Everest to do dinosuar again. But it gives me primeval whirl and Kali river rapids as choices.

Everest is the only one they would let me change rides or even times for.

Yay! This is our first road trip to WDW as grown ups with kids - DS 4 and DD 2. We are at POP from Au 16 to 23. We are leaving from CT on the 13 and staying in Fayeteville, NC for the night and then Daytona for the next 2 nights!!

Our dates overlap. :). We get to POP on the evening of the 21st and check-out on the 25th.

I am doing room only with AAA tickets I added/linked to my disney experience.

Thanks for sharing! I'm doing a room only for the second part of my stay, but I don't know how to link my tickets to that reservation. I assume your FPs will now be on your band and then you just use that when you get to the attraction?

One more question, when you went on the website, did you get a pop up message asking your to select your magic band, or were you clicking around through the links?

Today's plans involve trying to narrow down our water bottle/snack/breakfast situation. I originally planned on a GG order for breakfast items, water bottles and some snacks.

The only downside to this on this trip was the split stay factor. I know guest services will move the stuff, but it's just one more thing to pack up.

Then the notice of the refrigerator situation. I got an email from my TA...Poly should be ok, not sure about BC. And we have 5 breakfast ADRs at this point. So I'm rethinking the breakfast aspect. And the more I think about it, the kids don't really need snacks with us, although its nice to have something. And that leaves the water situation. I can drink warm water but the rest of the crew is against it which becomes an issue after an hour with water bottles. And I don't like all that plastic. So, the point to this rambling is that I'm thinking about buying everyone a hydroflask since they get amazing reviews and buying a few gallons of water (do I need to order or do they have larger size water at the grab n go? Anyone know? Then I wonder about carrying them all day...ugh. What is everyone else doing? I know we can get water in the parks at CS but I'd like to have more with us.

I bought "Contigo" water bottles from Costco (2pk $19.99) they are amazing for keeping water cold! My kids have been using them all summer for camp. I'm thinking about getting two more so we each have one to stay well hydrated.

I'm a few pages behind. I am either bringing water with me or ordering from GG. We are driving, so I will have a cooler in the room in case we don't have a fridge. I bought the kids water bottles with a thermal lining at Dick's, and I also ordered thermal water bottle holders from 31. We will have to do a science experiment before we go to see which one works better. I read a thread about the dangers of heat exhaustion, and now I am paranoid.

Anyone an "August Regular" and can offer some tips?

This is our first WDW trip in August. We were their last August for only one day after a cruise. We were also just there for President's week in February - which was the coldest week on record for Orlando! We were freezing (32 degrees) in Epcot!

I have water bottles, cooler for the room, cooling towels ($4 at Five Below!), etc...

What I need to know about is the rain. Do I really need ponchos with me at all times? We like to tour at RD then leave by Noon returning in the evening.

The week of August 25 there is ALWAYS a hurricane. I know because we are always on a cruise and our itinerary is always changed!:rotfl: What is WDW like during a hurricane? I know WDW is inland and will not get directly impacted, but will experience rain and wind. Do some indoor rides/shows remain open? Weather will not ruin our vacation, we just roll with it. I'm just curious what to expect.

QOTD: Now that we're getting closer how is everyone getting to the airport? Getting a ride, taking a shuttle, driving and parking your own car?

Wow this thread is moving fast! We got our Micky Mail and Magical Express stuff for our room only the night before our package!:thumbsup2 We have to drive about 2 hours to the airport. We usually do park/sleep/fly, but this year we're taking a late morning flight the day before our package. Yay for an extra Disney day!:cool1:
We reserved off-site parking at PIT through this site airportparkingreservations.com. We have used them before and their rates beat all of the prices I could find elsewhere. They have a bunch of coupon codes available at retailmenot.com.

Hey August friends! I have a question...just booked a fantasmic dinner dinner package and the dinner is at 4:50....does that mean waiting a LONG time for the show at 9? How does that work?

Ok, I called about the magic bands only being available to us for the last two days of our trip, which is room only reservation at CR. It turns out CR is one of the resorts on the testing list for that time period. I was able to make FP+ reservations for the 24th & 25th. I feel like this is the best of both worlds -- we can do things the regular fastpass way for the first 6 days, and then try out the new system for the last two days. I am slightly worried about them being able (or not!) to link our park tickets to the magic bands after we've started using them with KTTW. Fingers crossed its a smooth transition!

I just read on another thread that the next test is for guest with stays anytime between 8/2-8/25. They also said the included resorts are POP, CR, AKL, and YC.

I don't know how reliable the source is but it seems to be correlating with the people reporting being able to access it.

I sure wish some of the moderates were included. Oh well. Congrats to those who get to try it out. I look forward to hearing how it goes and hoping the bugs are worked out before my 2014 trip.:goodvibes

You don't have to wait around. You get a ticket with your meal that you take to a special entrance for F! when showtime starts. You still have to get there a little early but not as early as if you didn't have a reservation. They'll explain it during the meal.

I'm surprised that AoA isn't one of the resorts they are testing at. Looks like it's a month long test though with AKL, Pop, CR and YC. Kinda makes me wish I would've booked that deal through *** now...

I didn't ask about which resorts they were testing at -- BUT -- I know it's not POR. I originally asked why it wouldn't let me customize bands for the first 6 days of they trip, and the IT person said I wasn't in the testing group. Then I mentioned the CR rez, and she said "oh yes, that's why it's giving you the option to customize, they are testing at CR." Kind of relieved its not for the whole trip, because what if it totally sucks? Also I made an FP+ rez for Wishes on our very last night, so kinda psyched for that one.

This is us- we are at POP those days. I'm nervous about all the commitment planning required before you are even there. We have little kids and have never gone in this vacation before. Now what??? On the other hand- I don't want to pass up the opportunity to try something new!

Yes I got a pop up saying to select bands and pick my FP+

Heading home from my summer class midterm now (got a 93% too - anyone care to celebrate with me?) and hoping to be able to get MagicBands. Anyone know if BWI is included in the test?

Ok just finished making my FP+ choices. That was so hard working with attraction choices and times they let you have. Worst part is if you wanted to move two around and you wanted to move one to the earlier time first it would not let you. You have to move the early time later to open up that time for the other.

It was a pain working with the website having to back and forth to just get everything where I wanted it. So used to having everything prioritized for the mornin then I had to remember I probably will not have access to any good FPs later in the day so had to move some later in the day. I am really going to be checking out the in park kiosk and my phone to move FPs around as need be.

To answer some questions:
I am staying at Pop Century Aug 25th-30th with a room only reservation with tickets from AAA which I added to MDE recently.

Let me of any questions you might have and I'll try to answer them.

Oh we have a November family trip planned and the website says I can start picking bands and FP+ on Aug 25th which is funny cause that is my first day at Disney. So I will busy when I get back getting the family set up. But a least I would have first hand experience with it then.
