Ok, time for some fun to get us excited about our upcoming trips! This is sort of a QOTD, but instead it will be a picture of the day. Today let's start off with Spaceship Earth since so many of us are sadly finding out it will be down during our trips. So, post your favorite SE pics (and feel free to suggest a different location tomorrow!)

This is one of my favorites from a 2009 trip:

Cool idea. :-)

Mine is from 2009 too and it's actually of my in-laws who went with us that year.

My girls at Epcot last year. They will be bummed that SE and the Carousel will be closed. I'm bummed about MV3D too.

Oh my oh my how plans and expectations can change...

As I had mentioned, my upcoming trip was to be my sister, my kids and I. Especially looking forward to it since losing our mom last month. Well...my sister has since gotten custody of her 15 month old grandson and will not be able to make the trip this year :sad2: My heart broke when she told me since I know she had been looking forward to going to Disney for the very first time.

Now, for a quick bit of info on me, relevant to the rest of the story ;), not to long ago I had reconnected with my 'first love' from when I was 18. We had been together for 3 years when went our separate ways and had our own lives. He contacted me and we started talking and realized we still had feelings for each other (aww ) and have since gotten back together. Well, my sister suggested taking him in her place; oops, I hadn't even thought of that :rotfl:.

I had felt bad originally because I was planning on leaving on August 23rd to drive down to FL. The 23rd is his b-day so it was like, "happy birthday we're leaving for 2 weeks, have fun home alone." Of course he had understood that this was planned before he was in the picture so he wasn't worried about it. Well, now I get to tell him that he can go! Talk about mixed emotions, heart broken that my sister cant go, but happy that he can go...what a roller coaster lately LOL

So later on I get to break the news to him, call Disney and change guests, rearrange ADR's and celebrations and basically start planning all over again :lmao:

Oh and here's my favorite SSE pic

SenecaWolf - Can I get a LGMH that just doesn't have my screenname with the princesses? Thinking about getting shirts for the family.

I got an advertisement from Costco yesterday in the mail and they had waterproof digital cameras for sale. I'm seriously thinking about getting one as it would mean I could leave the DSLR and video camera at home and not worry about them getting wet from rides, pool or rain. We could also get pictures at the water parks as well as video and stills in the Big Blue Pool at AoA (where they play music underwater). My wife is a huge scrapbooker and having pictures from the water parks and pools is something we've never gotten before so I know she'd love that.

Awesome pictures!!! I don't have any downloaded to my computer.
I have to tell you.. I am dying to be on Spaceship Earth right now and smelling Rome burning:rotfl2:
I just love it.

Only 72 days to go!!!

Seneca .. I am sorry your sister can't come but please you can now plan a sweetheart trip:cheer2:
You can celebrate his birthday at Disney World!!!!!!! Make sure to make him wear a birthday button and list his birthday on your ADR's. You've had a hell of a year and I hope this is a magical trip for you guys!!:goodvibes

We love both for very different reasons. Disney gets more of our money but we LOVE the Universal parks. My husband and maybe my teen dd probably prefer Universal slightly. We have a good time at both. I do have to disagree about Potter. I don't think Disney has anything that holds a candle to that. But we were huge huge huge Potter fans for a decade and we were blown away by the details. I am so excited for the expansion. It's just not an either/or scenario for us. We prefer some things at Disney, and other over on the dark side:thumbsup2

I agree about the Wizarding World! I've been a huge Potter fan my whole life and I was blown away by it. When the expansion is completed, I'll definitely be going again, but not before. After my mom and I finished touring the WW on our last trip, we found the rest of the park a bit lacklustre. I'm also a big Jurassic Park fan so I hope that section of the park gets an update soon, it really needs it, and there are so many amazing things they could do there.

Totally agree! :thumbsup2

And the Express Pass at Universal is incredible :thumbsup2 . Being able to walk on all the rides past the lines of people is the best feeling EVER. Couple that with the fact that the onsite resorts are beautiful and feel very high-end, and I think you'll really enjoy your Universal experience.

Don't miss out on the early entry to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter as an onsite guest. Nothing like having the place all to yourself before the general masses hit:

We LOVE US/IOA for the FOL and ease of getting to the parks...
All 3 of my kids loved it (only park we have been to in the past two Orlando trips.:confused3
Excited to return to Disney for the magic! and definitely wonderful CMs!!

Spaceship Earth closing for refurb for a week in August. We LOVE Spaceship Earth. Luckily for us it will reopen 2 days after we get there but I thought I would put it in here in case it affects any of your trips. I think we're probably the only people who would be hugely disappointed if it was closed though:rolleyes1

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Well, at least we planned on being there on the 26th, so hopefully it opens on time.
Say it isn't so! Exact dates we'll be there!! My kids have NEVER ridden it! :sad1:

SenecaWolf-- Sorry to hear your sister can not make the trip.
Happy to hear of your "new" traveling companion though!

Realized I never asked for a LGMH... Can I get one with my username? Thanks!

Ooh i'll have to look at costco for that as well! Th. for the tip!

Is it horrible I've been to Disney twice and never ridden Spaceship Earth? Thankful the rehab will be over by the time we get there so I can finally experience it!

These are from 2010. Disclaimer, I have no idea what I'm doing, but here goes...

Yay! It worked!

Wow! Hugs for your sister not being able to make it, but woohoo on getting to spend two weeks in the world with your honey

Do you remember which one it is? I have had the canon tough for a few years now and it is great for those water shots! You will love it and love having a small camera instead of lugging the SLR.

We have some cute kids on this thread :goodvibes I love seeing everyone's SE pics, and I love that so many of them were taken from the exact same spot or angle, yet look completely different!

Oh my I was quite nervous for a moment. Luckily we will be able to go on it. I thought I was going to have to deal with a meltdown, not from the kids from DH. :rotfl:

I used to go to all ears, but they haven't seemed to be keeping up with these latest refurbs. Here is a link to the one here on the DIS and seems to be very up to date: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/rehab.htm

Thanks for the link. I too had been using all ears, but have been finding better info here.

Oh and I have no clue how to post pictures, so sorry can't add to that, but I love all your pics. I can't wait to go.

The camera is the Fuji XP60. Just checked my local Costco and it's the same price online as it is in the stores but when the coupon hits it will be $40 cheaper. :thumbsup2
