I never heard back...and I tried twice...

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

I sent in my quote request yesterday. Had a quote this morning and now just waiting for the confirmation. We were staying at POR and with changing to this deal we save $275 and we got to add 2 more days to the hopper passes. If Disney comes out with a better discount between now and then, then we may change things, but for now, I will happily stay at the Yacht Club. Will have to seriously look at ADRs and see what is a must do and what is just a "nice to try" for us. My youngest is 9, and the other 2 are 16 and 18, so I think they would like the Yacht Club.

Edited: still trying to learn posting on the ipad! meant to quote the posts about no replies from ***.

I also tried twice and never heard back. I thought perhaps they were mad when I tried again a few days later! I eventually took another posters advice and called to see if there was a pin with my name and there was! We got 30 percent off at POR. Was hoping for FD but since that doesn't appear to be happening I am just happy to have some kind of discount. Made my ADRs at 180 days and now have to go back and see how many I can afford OOP.

Why have the crowd calendars changed drastically from when I booked 2 months-ish ago? At the time, the week of the 18 was showing excitingly LOW crowds.......I just checked again and am saddened to see they have changed for the worse. Educate me!! Why???

I don't know why they have changed, but I also have noticed that the suggestions for which day/which park have changed somewhat. I made ADRs based on best park for the day, but now those parks have changed. Good thing that most of my ADRs are lunch time so we can go earlier in the morning, eat and then hop on to the next place!! ;)

I would be thrilled with the 30% off pin code. Congrats!:woohoo:

ALL of our ADRs are now at the least recommended park for that day. I don't really follow the recommendation to begin with, but it was nice that it HAD gone with our schedule. :rolleyes2

I'm not sure why they change but they do. In fact I would say my last 3 trips I have booked seeing one set of numbers and then they jump higher the closer you get. Very misleading.
I will say it's likely because Disney changes their park hours after the initial release of the calendar and that indicates higher crowd levels so the planning sites have to adjust predictions.
The parks have longer hours than they have every other time I've gone during this week. That and the fact that there's no free dining coming tells me one thing.. they are expecting higher numbers.
I always shake my head a little now when I see someone saying how late August is a wonderful empty time to go. It used to be .. It's not anymore. Word got out.
It's still manageable, and it's still fun or I wouldn't bother. But it's getting much busier. Just like those first two weeks of December that everyone raved about. Last year there were multitides of posts of people there saying it was busier than ever before. I don't have to like it.. but slow doesn't mean what it used to.:sad1:

Again.. it's all about expectations. If we're expecting dead we're going to be disappointed. But if we go expecting to have to deal with crowds it's pleasantly surprising.

Totally feeling your pain!! Two of the most important days that WERE recommended and are now NOT recommended are both days we are going to Magic Kingdom!! Rope Drop here we come (and we are NOT early morning people!!!)

You are right about low expectations resulting in pleasantly surprised. I'm just disappointed being a teacher I can only go during the super busy times. Was excited to think this trip would be different. In fact I changed from July to August for the 'low crowds" and can't believe I have to wait another whole month to go for no reason! LOL! However, Disney is Disney, right? Still can't wait!

The only day last year that I would say was *bad* was the Sunday of Labor day weekend on my trip. We slept in and went to MK. Bad idea. If you hit the parks early and plan which one is best it's still great and a lot of fun. Just not as empty as it used to be. I still think it will be great:)

This same thing happened with December. We loved going the second week of December. It was so cheap and crowds were low because it was the lull between Thanksgiving and Christmas. But word got out, Disney increased the price season, and it got more crowded. It's still a great time to go, but crowd and rate patterns definitely change!

We are normally Dec folks and found this past year that our trip was ill timed with the New Fantasyland Grand Opening. The crowd levels jumped up as soon as it was announced. In addition, they offered free dining the week of the 12/10 which definitely brought people in. We still had a great trip, but we missed the expected low crowd levels for the time of year.
