World of color dessert party?!

Maybe this has been answered and maybe it's obvious but does each person get their own plate of desserts? Also can this be paid for with a Disney gift card?

I believe I have read that you cannot use gift cards to pay for this. I think you pay with a credit card only when you book it. Please correct me if I'm wrong...:)
Yes you must pay for it at the time you book it. Not sure why it has to be CC and not a Gift Card.

FYI - no discounts are currently available for this either.

I want to start by saying that the CMs were all lovely and very accommodating. I feel bad being the only person to post a bummer review of this experience, but our experience tonight was nowhere near worth what we paid for it. We arrived at 725 to a large crowd waiting to be let in. One single person was checking groups in, and one other person escorting groups to tables. It took until 8:05 to finally get us seated (and we were not the last group). By the time they got our drinks and set down our plates of dessert, we had about 20 seconds to see what was on our plate before the show began. We were hurried out at the end. The only truly great part was that we got to sit for the show (although we were sitting at a high table BEHIND another high table).

I also want to make note that the desserts served on the plate were quite an acquired taste. Very strong flavors (lemon, coffee, etc.). We brought (and paid dearly for) our twin 4 year olds, and while they loved the light up cups they got, they did not like a single dessert on the plate, and I didn't blame them. They stuck to their grapes and cheese. So much for the "dessert party" we had hyped up throughout the day.

This experience is NOTHING in comparison to the experience we had two years ago at the Frozen Dessert Party at HS in Orlando. I could not justify paying over $300 for this again, and it kills me that we did this time.

Thank you for sharing these comments. I sympathize with your twins. I have been reading about this dessert party and looking at pictures of the food. While I love dessert far more than I should, I have had trouble finding any desserts on those plates that look appetizing to me. I am not a fan of coconut or coffee, and lemon can be unappealing too depending on how it's used. I guess I must be more of a chocolate and vanilla dessert lover. Even though it was unlikely I would have been willing to spend such a hefty sum on this type of experience, I did look it over for a planned DH and I only trip, and the types of desserts on the plate were the final turn-off.

I'm so sorry to hear that your experience was less than ideal. This really upsets me because it makes me feel like Disney is completely out of touch with the needs of it's guests. People are on family vacations so why wouldn't they offer an experience that is enjoyable for family members of ALL ages? The other WOC dining experiences offer kid's menus, so why shouldn't this? I am grateful to those of you who have posted your experiences, along with pictures of the desserts and the menus because it has made me realize that this package is definitely not for us (Disney doesn't bother posting any details on it's website so we have to come here to find them!). I have a very picky 8 year old and there is no way he would eat any of those desserts. He would be so bummed out to see us adults eating and there be nothing for him to enjoy. Come on, Disney, would it hurt you to throw in a basic vanilla cupcake and brownie or something of that sort??!!
I think you should write to Disney. They really should know that you did not enjoy your experience and that they have really dropped the ball on this one.

Good information as always, I love hearing both sides; reality checks are good. I will plan to pack a couple desserts in my bag for my son who won't touch what is being offered. I'm doing this for the seating; the food/ drinks is secondary for me. It helps being a family of 2 price wise as well; I doubt I'd feel the same way if we were a family of 5!

I really appreciate all the reviews, both positive and negative. And all the photos, too. It really helps those reading this thread to make an informed decision regarding this party, since it's an expensive experience...

I agree that they should offer a second plate with more basic and recognizable treats. When booking you should be able to specify which plate you want since I understand things are pre-plated.

Thanks for your reply. Definitely gives me things to think about as a fellow twin mom (mine are slightly older at 9, but still picky). I am really concerned about your point of "a high table BEHIND another high table". Was there still a row of low tables in front of that also? I would have thought the high tables were ideal for viewing, but not if they put another high table in front of it! I wonder if this a new seating layout they are testing.

There have always been some second-row-high-tables behind front-row-high-tables.

Okay..... I just spent WAAAYYY too much of my Sunday reading this entire thread. I looked at it a while ago, but couldn't believe it had gotten to 12 pages! I'm SOLD on the Dessert Party!! And this is coming from someone incredibly cheap/thrifty! I worked a side hustle a few weeks ago and earned $80. I will ask for another $80 as part of my Mother's Day and/or birthday gift and plan to book this for my Mother/Daughter trip in September. Our visit is pretty short and this seems like the best use of our time, versus hanging out to "save" our spot for hours. PLUS this will be, in part, a celebration of DD's 21st birthday, so the bubbly is a nice touch!

As far as the desserts go, I was interested to see others mention not really liking the desserts. I was concerned that I might be in the minority when I didn't like what I saw in the pictures, but did see that someone mentioned being able to request a fruit plate instead of desserts? I might request that for me and the regular desserts for DD and we can share.... I'll get her opinion on that.

Fingers crossed that this is still an option in September!! And I'll mark my calendar to call at the 60 day window! Thank you to EVERYONE who shared a review, photo, map, suggestion, and/or opinion. They were ALL very helpful in order for me to make this EXPENSIVE decision!............P

I felt like I was in the minority there for a while when most people seemed to be so impressed with the dessert plate. I was thinking, where is a Disney cupcake? A brownie? Throw me a cookie or two! I guess the California Dessert Pallet is way more refined than mine!

I agree that the desserts offered don't really look that good. I'd also rather have mini cupcakes, chocolate cookies, etc. I know my teen daughters won't like much more than the grapes and cheeses. Disney.....are you reading this...?? haha

I agree with the comments on the desserts offered for this. I was looking forward to more traditional type desserts. Cupcakes, cookies, brownies maybe even cheesecake. I don't think of bread, cheese or grapes and being desserts.
