Anyone know what the waterparks are like this time of year? we've never been to Florida before and the weather seems to really fluctuate. Really hoping to be able to go to Typhoon Lagoon when we go in a week (!!! coming up so fast!). from the weather stuff I've been looking at it looks like it's actually warmer when it's cloudy rather than when it's sunny? wondering if anyone has any tips/advice they could share about going to the waterparks this time of year?

Disney keeps at least one of the Water Parks and the resort pools open all year long.

If it is sunny with the temperatures near 60 degrees or above with little or no wind,
guests can be found swimming at the resorts and water parks.

The water is heated in most pools.

No need to buy the WP tickets in advance, as you can add them ("Water Parks Fun and more") to your tickets after you arrive at no extra charge over buying them in advance.
(even on the day that you do decide to go swimming.)

You can wait to see if the weather suits you for swimming.

If you get a day warm enough you go that day. Don't put it off. Cancel whatever plans you had.

We have done several January WDW vacations and we usually get one day that is warm enough. The water parks are never crowded because people don't like to rearrange their schedules.

We keep the water in all the slides and pools around 80F (27C) except for Shark Reef which does not have heaters. What you want is a day that will be bright and sunny and preferably not windy.

If you go on a day that is heavily overcast you will not be able to take advantage of any radiant heating (from the sun) or on a windy day (especially with a dry wind from the North) you will get hit by wind chill.

But a day with the highs in the mid-50s or above which is sunny and calm most people (at least from Northern climates) should be comfortable.

We were at Typhoon Lagoon twice last week. Air temps were about 80, but it was breezy. We spent about five hours at the water park. The wave pool was not crowded at all. But the theme parks were not that busy either.

But if you go during the summer, you need to get to the water parks when they open if you want to get a spot. If you wander in around noon or so, you may have a hard time finding a good spot. Or show up around 3PM or so when lots of guests are leaving and you should find a decent spot.

During our February 2008 trip we had several days that were good for swimming and/or the water parks. During day at TL it was sunny and in the low 80's. The only time we were cold was in the shady areas of the "lazy river". During our February 2010 trip temps barely got out of the 50's any anything except the hot tub was out of the question.
