Well let's not go too far with that. My hope is that by counting sat. fat grams, I will lose weight.
I already feel so much better. I have more energy. It is so weird.
I am also on the American Heart Association site looking at recipes there.
I made an appt for my dh at the Lipid Center for a consultation next week. She is going to give us more help with diet.
Plus he will get a consultation with a dietician when he does cardiac rehab.
I find it really hard to get calories plus eat low fat at the moment. I know I am just starting out with this but since it is for life, I will get there.
Believe me, I am going to be there to take it all in since I am the shopper and cook of the house.
I watch calories, fat, and carbs, so I know that it can be difficult. But you WILL find meals and recipes that fit into your lifestyle that you enjoy!! Check out our BL recipe thread for starters!!
HEY!! WHERE IS OUR RECIPE THREAD? It has gone missing!! MODS! HELP!
Well.... when I FIND the recipe thread, I will share a link!
Busy day today! Lots of people I wanted to respond to but our main computer is broken , so DH borrowed my laptop and I hate quoting on the phone (not even sure I can multiquote from the phone), so I'll just answer the QOTD and hopefully will get time tomorrow to respond more!
I definitely am a snacker. Some of my fave snacks are veggies and hummus, apple and peanut butter and my afternoon snack is usually toast with peanut butter and banana. I find I have a really hard time eating all my daily points so I need snacks to bring my total up.
Positive for today: for dinner the girls had Kraft dinner with veggies (not so good for them but its an occasional treat), and I made myself an avocado tuna sandwich and half a baked sweet potato. This is positive for 2 reasons : I avoided the KD, and I also had foods which I rarely (sweet potato) or never (avocado) eat, which is something I've been trying to do lately (today I bought Swiss chard and spaghetti squash to try this week). Another positive is despite having the night from hell trying to get DD to sleep in her big girl bed, I did my workout at 9:30 tonight. Today was my first day of the turbofire program... It's going to kick my butt!
Hope you all have a great day tomorrow!
Great job avoiding the junk AND fitting in the workout!! Next time, get your girls to eat the avocado and sweet potato with you.... no time like the present to introduce new veggies!! Waiting to hear how you enjoy the chard and spaghetti squash.
Good morning! Today is laundry day and figure out what to make day again.
I was able to get the Christmas stuff packed up last night with the help of dd and her friend, since dh can't do anything yet.
I did weigh myself this morning and I am down 3lbs.
Wishing everyone well for a good day.
WOOHOO on the 3 pounds!!
QOTD: I did not have a good week for my first week - but I am very grateful for this thread because it made me get through the week with less damage than it would have been otherwise.
I find that just reading along really helps me to stay motivated. And if I had made a bad choice for lunch it helped me to stay on track with dinner and to make sure to get my exercise in.
The scale was not friendly - it even scared me when yesterday it showed that I was up 3 pounds from my starting weight. But today I was suddenly down 4 pounds from yesterday! So I am finally seeing some progress. Very happy about this. I do know that my weight loss is never linear and that there are ups and downs, still it was a bit scary!
On to week two now and hoping for a better week! For all of us!!
Four pounds sounds like a GREAT start!!

Do you snack or are you a strict 3 meals a day kind of person while working on your goals? What is your healthy go to snack?
And...Say something positive.
I'm a snacker/grazer and that will never change so I've quit trying to change it!
My must have snack? I am pretty sure I could live off of apples and cheese. I try to have an apple every night before bed. I usually have a small bit of cheese with it too, just to satisfy my taste buds. I've started slicing the apple fairly thin and then I slice a small amount of cheese into tiny little bites. That way, it feels like I'm eating more too!
I've found that I prefer a stronger cheese too...something hard with a good flavor. Smoked Gruyere is my standard, but recently I've found some espresso rind cheese that is phenomenal!

One week down! What are you most proud of? What have you struggled with?
And...say something positive.
I'm most proud of the things that I've accomplished this week! We've re-arranged furniture, un-decorated the house, de-cluttered a few areas, and purged the fridge and freezer!
I love fruit and cheese together too. I mentioned earlier my treat of melba toast rounds topped with LC light swiss and a dollop of mango salsa. I also will slice pears thin to top the melba toast/LC cheese combo. They are both so yummy.
Great job bringing some order to the house!

Kids are off to Art. The morning went well, but one boy brought in muffins for his birthday snack. Sounds fine, right? Well....he brought in THREE type of muffins, plus frosting. So EVERY SINGLE CHILD in the class had to be asked what KIND of muffin and did they want frosting! It took 20 minutes to get everyone their snack. Not sure what the Mom was thinking, although it was nice of her to think of nut allergies and send in nut-free muffins. He offered me one and I said no at first, but then he had plenty so I took a banana muffin and will give it to DS later today as a treat.
I'm doing some thinking to get ready for my coaching stint coming up later this week. I have some ideas, but if anyone would like to talk about anything in particular, let me know. I don't mind talking about recipes (low fat, low carb, or just low cal), exercise (although I'm sure that there is plenty of talk about this on the exercise threads), portion control, planning, etc.
Now I'm off to figure out where our BL recipe thread disappeared to!!
So strange!..............P
