who is going to WDW pregnant? tips, advice, excitement!

we leave Saturday 9/11 and I will be almost 31 weeks.

I hope you had a great trip! are you back yet? can you let us know how it went?

It was HOT but thankfully it was overcast a lot of the time. Nothing is worse than feeling like you are on the face of the sun!!! We had a great trip but it was at a much slower pace than we are used to--but with the heat, our 5yo was wiped out about the same time as I was, it worked out well. What did I like the least?? Walking up the ramp to the monorail at the TTC and the Magic Kingdom!!!! lol. Wow, they are a haul when the hip joints are a little sore.
I was constantly getting glasses of ice water in the parks--so much more refreshing than the bottled water we brought in. I had a book with me because I did sit and wait for my husband and son to do rides quite a bit--fine with me.
One good place I found to sit in EPCOT was the breezeway between Mouse Gears and The Electric Umbrella--long backed benches there, shade and a fabulous breeze.
Of course with all that ice water, I had to use the bathroom frequently. That was a pain but part of the process. Luckily bathrooms are not hard to find at any theme park--at Downtown Disney though, there aren't many and there were usually lines so you don't want to wait too long!
As I mentioned, my hip joints were really sore at one point--a relaxing trip to the pool and an easy day the next day helped a lot!!!!
Except one leisurely long day in EPCOT, we mostly did 1/2days in the parks. Honestly, it was so hot I don't think we'd have done it much differently had I not been pregnant. We have been there fairly often so did not feel like we were missing anything. Made great use of the resort pools, planned some nice meals and just enjoyed the atmosphere.

thanks for all the tips and for letting us know how it went. I leave on October 1st and I'll be 23 weeks at that point.. I think I'll be fine but we just have to take it easy and slow... obviously stopping to sit on benches and doing a lot of sit down show type attractions. I will let everyone know how it went when I get back!

I could really use some baby vibes now. :( We got prego with DD very quickly so I thought the same would be for #2. I just got word today through my OB that at 31, I may be in premature ovarian failure. She had me start the ovulation detection kits two months ago and I am ovulating so that is a good sign and it may just been "soon" so I am going to a specialist. I subscribed to the thread because 5 months ago I thought I would be pregnant by our Nov vacation....now I'm not so sure. :( My OB is an alarmist (send me to Labor and Delivery at 22 weeks when I fell and everything was fine), but the blood results don't lie. :(

I went through my ob first also and they she put me on 3 months of clomid to help me ovulate and I did, but me not ovulating was only part of the problem. Had I not taken the initiative and went to a fertility clinic we would probably have never found out that I wasn't the big problem - dh was. We had no problems concieving our first two, but this third one was a different story. Turns out that dh wasn't producing a lot of swimmers. My RE and support staff were wonderful. We ended up having to do IVF. I got pregnant on my first cycle, but it ended in a mc. I got pregnant on my 2nd cycle and so far so good. I would very much suggest that you at least go and talk to a fertility specialist. Good luck!

I'm joining in. Just found out yesterday that I'm pregnant with baby #2....and we leave for Disney THIS Wednesday!!! I was pregnant with my DD in 2002 when I went to Disney, but I was almost 2 months pregnant (only "thrill" ride I did was Splash Mtn). If I had to guess, I'd say I'm only a few weeks pregnant right now. Just trying to figure out what rides I cannot do. My DD was ready to try Space Mtn for the first time and I don't think she'll ride it without me. :sad1:

Right there with ya! I'm a few weeks, I think I took the test & got a BPF the second it would have shown up. The morning sickness is super annoying too. As you can see, we're headed down soon as well. Not sure what rides I'll try out. Maybe send DH on the single riders & see if he thinks it's ok.

I WILL be doing Safari. What's everyone think of Dinosaur? Or the little coasters?

Not get morning sickness, although I got it real bad with my DD. Fingers crossed!

I think I'll be fine on the Safari, but I'm SO sad I'll be missing TT, EE and BTMRR. I haven't ridden TT since Jan 09 and I don't remember anything real jarring.

Okay ladies - we just got back this past weekend and I was in my 31st week while we were there. It was extremely HOT! It actually worked out fairly well for us because a large part of why we went was for DD (who will be 7 in November) to have one more trip while it was all about her. Well she had just hit the 48 inch mark this past December and rode Rockin Rollercoaster for the first time and absolutely LOVED it. She is a HUGE "fast ride" fan. So this trip we missed a LOT of the parks but she rode the coasters OVER and OVER :) Like RNRC she rode 7 or 8 times. EE at least 5 or 6, Space Mountain 5 or 6, and so on. So as you can tell I spent quite a bit of time resting. I did have a good time though :) Oh and I was ADDICTED to the frozen lemonades. They were SO refreshing when I was sweating to death. One piece of advice I would give is that if it would work out with your plans to do your most intense days the first or second day or the day after a resort day. By the last day I was DONE. I did get a little dehydrated one or two days and could feel it.....fortunately I didn't have any contraction due to it. And I was able to recognize it and get hydrated. I didn't sleep well, but no worse than I'm sleeping at home now. I did get quite a few photopass pics with just me since at times it gave me something to do while they rode rides. And I am HUGE! I think I grew the week we were there. Oh...word of warning about DTD....the Marketplace bus stops are closed so you had to use the Pleasure Island ones. We went downtown to eat at Earl of Sandwich and get DD's silhouette done and I wanted to get our ornament for the year and one for DD and then a 1st Christmas one for the baby. By the time we got into the Christmas shop I was just too exhausted. There were so many people and I was just too whipped to shop. I think it was a combined issue of the bus stop and then the fact that we had spent a day at a park too. I think you just have to go with the attitude that you might miss a lot...then you will still appreciate all you are still able to do. Oh....and really there is still plenty to do even with missing the rides. I did not do any rides with a warning for pregnant women....although I was okay with doing the Safari we never even made it to Africa. I will say if I hadn't been as much as I have I might have been disappointed....however having been a regular visitor for the last 10-11 years it was still a very fulfilling trip.

Does anyone have any specific questions? I know I kind of rambled :)

wow, thanks for the review! What specificially did you do while your dd was riding rides? shop? sit on benches? etc? I'm going in 8 days and will be 23 weeks and while I know it's going to be a slow paced trip, I hope I have the energy to at least walk around and shop and not just have to sit on benches the whole time! lol. Did you check out the baby care centers? I'm planning to go into some to relax or just check it out. Great tip on the frozen lemonade! I'm glad you had a great time!!! :D

Hi ladies...joining in here :) I am 6 weeks pregnant with #2 and we will be leaving for WDW in just over 3 weeks! We have been looking foward to this trip for what seems like forever now and I am really hoping that I am still going to really enjoy it. Over this past weekend the "morning sickness"/all day sickness kicked in :( I know mine is not nearly severe as some but I just have that pretty much constant nauseous feeling and nothing sounds good to eat
:( I really hope I feel better because Disney Dining is *one* of my favorite things about WDW. Missing out on some of the attractions doesn't bother me, as we go pretty frequently, so I know I'll be back again to ride. Although I will reallyyyyy miss BTMR!!! Anyway, any positive encouragement you have is much appreciated, especially if you have been to WDW yourself around 9/10weeks pregnant! Thanks ladies, congrats to all! yay for babies!!!:yay:

Carry a little insulated container, I know I found some in Targets back to school stuff, and carry grapes or cut up fruit...etc. Munch on that every hour so you don't get low on sugar or let morning sickness take over. There are some stands that sell fruit bowls too...YUMMY. We picked up a couple of those when we were there, it was a welcome change from sugared pecans, icecream and churros LOL

I did a little "window" shopping. But not much. I will say that my trip when I was 31 weeks and didn't have any other children was completely different than this one was. We had a great time together and just took it slow and I did a TON of stuff. This time I did spend a lot of time just sitting and people watching. I could have easily done some other things, but I liked seeing DD's excitement when she would get off the rides so that left me sitting. I am 36 now and being 7 years older than that trip probably played a part in my tiredness....AND I found out I failed my 1 hour glucose screening the Friday before we left and did the 3 hour tolerance test Monday after we got back and found out I have gestational diabetes so I have a feeling that probably played a part in how I was feeling. You will have so much fun and I'm pretty confident you will make it just fine. The trip before our first DD was born holds a very special place in my heart.....it was to this day probably still the most relaxing trip we ever took. There's so much you can do while pregnant. And just the special time alone before adding our little one to our family was "magical". Of course every trip with her since has been magical too....just in different ways :)

You got it, mama. Baby vibes and love.

I am currently 10 weeks and am going in just 1 month 1 day; I am quite nervous bc I lost my first pregnancy due to preterm labor (it was from a UTI but it still makes me so nervouse); now I have a super awesome 2-year-old son (his third Disney trip, lucky devil!--he is so excited to be getting character calls from Mickey and Minnie that I know he'll flip @ Disney); so anyway I want to take it really easy while there. Since it's trip 10 for me, I don't have to see every little thing; mom is on dialysis and probably won't be speedy gonzalez this year and I figure I can keep my son's pace, but I am thinking about getting a power chair just for part of the time so I won't walk walk walk (9 day trip and we will be on our feet most of the time). Obviously I will only be 15 weeks by then so I can see how the power chair sounds a little unnecessary but with the previous loss I just want to be able to give my body a break if I need it. Any thoughts? Thanks for the support, ladies.

Also...anyone going in October have prego costume ideas? I am showing like 14 weeks already (perhaps because it's a subsequent pregnancy?), so I am concerned about the usual skimpy styles they sell for women at places like Target...you know what I mean, ladies.

We are going to Disney in March of 2011 and I am due May 19th, so I will be seven months preggers when we go. :) Im excited to go preggers actually. It will be a different experience, but also will have its own memories because its different. I will have a blast doing to rides with DS. Have fun! And drinnkkk that H2O!:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I bet you're only showing to you! ;) But if you really wanna ham it up for Halloween, buy two things: a bit of batting and a ton of muslin (like 10 yards; it's dirt cheap). Bunch up the muslin and soak it a bucket of diluted coffee (you want to do this sort of like you would tie-dye something, so that it's not a uniform color, but generally dirty/earthy looking). Dry it out and take it Disney with you. You can wear whatever is comfortable underneath it (I did shorts and a tank top) and then just have someone wind you up in the long length of muslin (be sure to place a rounded bunch . Voila! You're a mummy  This was mine when I was a week out from my due date and it was so easy and comfortable at that stage...maybe you can be more clever/detailed at your stage. Have a great time and good luck! :goodvibes

That's a terrific idea, AnastasiaTremaine....love it.

Unfortunately, I am showing. My belly outed me at work and when I told them how far I was along, they told me I was having twins. It's not true; I had abdominal surgery so I think I am just showing faster bc my ab muscles are shot. But it sure does make it hard to dress these days.

OMG, I just tested this morning and after being told I am in premature ovarian failure, I GOT A BFP!!!!! :) I am so excited! We leave in 6 weeks so I'll only be 10 weeks or so. Going with my parents and they are super overprotective. Not sure how that is going to play out, BUT I am truly going to enjoy this pregnancy because it will probably be my last. Thank you for all the vibes! Just crossing my fingers and praying this baby sticks!!!!

For my second pregnancy I was showing at 8 weeks and in maternity clothes by 10 weeks. It happened so much quicker than the first time (I was almost 6 months before I needed maternity clothes that time). I went to Disney while I was 16 weeks along and thankfully it was just after I got over having "morning" sickness (granted it was more like 6pm and on sickness) and the extreme exhaustion. I did take that trip much slower than any of my trips there since I was still recovering from the first trimester yuckies.
As for halloween costumes, there are actually maternity costumes out there, you can try: http://www.extremehalloween.com/maternitycostumes.htm. They have some cute stuff. If you are looking for something cheaper, then you could go as a pumpkin, get an orange top of your liking and use fabric paint or markers and draw a large pumpkin face on it, you could dress in all black and get some cat ears, a tail and some face paint and be a pregnant cat (this could work for various animals), etc.

Have fun!
