My first attempt at food porn. Change of plans after I got home, no cilantro or jalapeno resulted in new side dishes, tossed salad and good old Rice A Roni, served with the house wine of the south, sweet tea

Hi everyone!
We had a wonderful dinner-thanks mostly to the love of my life:thumbsup2

2 weeks ago we borrowed my son's smoker-and have been smokin up a storm..lol

I started with a whole pork loin that weighed about 9 lbs-and cut it in half. Half was marinaded in KC Masterpiece Chipoltle-lime marinade. The other half we seasoned with onion and garlic powder and stuffed with about 1/2 lb of chorizo.

They were smoked for 6 hours over charcoal and a combination of mesquite chips and apple wood from a tree out in front of our apt.

It came out sooo tender-melt in your mouth and the marinade was not hot at all-just very tasty. The chorizo one has a lot more bite-but still very good.

We also had steamed broccoli and baked potatoes-and we both ate wayy too much. We are going to freeze the chorizo one for another day and the marinated one will become Cuban sandwiches-hot pork roast, ham and swiss
with mustard and pickles-yummy.

Did you do anything special to the chorizo? The pork sounds really good I'm going to have to try this.

NUTRI System......:scared1: But 4 lbs. later I'm ok with it.

I will just come here to drool!;)

Hersey-no nothing at all done to the chorizo-I bought 2 12 oz tubes of "Cacique" pork chorizo at Super Wal-mart and we just decided last night to defrost one and stuff the pork with it. I will have pics to upload if someone could give me a hand-I've never been able to figure it out..lol

Wow! So much cool information. I'm printing this off to try! I didn't realize that you could stir rice while it was cooking. My mother always told me to get rice boiling and just leave it alone, or it would get sticky! Thanks for the information!!!

Will this work for brown rice as well as for white? Brown is all we eat (except for my chinese sticky rice!).

This rice recipe is like boiling pasta. The water doesn't have to absorb - you drain it like you do pasta. I've made it like this for years and it works! Like I mentioned I always make the biggest batch cause the extra freezes so well. The recipe came from Frank Davis' NOLA cookbook, the Seafood Notebook.

I've never tried it with brown rice.

I'll try that lucas! :thumbsup2 Tonight I called my mother and had her make it for me, :rotfl: turned out pretty good. The grain I couldn't remember is black barley.

Tonight I am going to make some food for Bunco tomorrow night. Last week a friend and I had stopped by a local bread shop for her to pick up a bunny shaped bread she had pre-ordered. This place gives out samples and she got us a sample of this whole wheat Gouda Stout beer bread. Oh my stars was this stuff good. :cloud9: I am going to make it using a Tastefully Simple whole wheat bread mix I have. Will serve it with a veggie dip.

Great pics- looks delicious!

The chicken gravy whatever it's called casserole turned out okay, but it took a lot of time so I doubt we'll make it again. DH isn't home yet to try it so we'll see what he says =)

Tonight it's leftover spaghetti and meatball stoup with garlic bread.

WFD at your house?

ETA: Kathy, how's your sweetie? Is she doing any better?

Good Morning!

Nita, Great pics!

We're going to Philly today to the Franklin Institute to see a Star Wars exhibit...I am hoping to get authentic Philly Cheesesteaks for dinner...

Have a great day all!

Kathy, If you need me, call please!

Morning all--

Kat--Same as Lauren said....if you need me please call. Give Sammie a big pat from me! How is she this morning?

We didn't get home until after 9pm last night from the seminar, so Ross wasn't in bed until 10pm. This is a child who likes 11-12 hrs of sleep a night...needless to say he wasn't very awake when I stuck him on the bus this morning.
He will be showered, and in bed by 7pm tonight as we have to be at the tournament by 7:30 tomorrow morning. This is a long day as our school puts it on (Laura it is just as disorganized as the our other one we put on in Nov. that you are remembering) and it is the biggest tournament in the state due to the fact that we have more events then most tournaments, major demos in the start with world champions, and our own team doing a piece as well. We will be there min. 8hrs. Ross is pumped to point fight as this is his favorite part of the tournaments. Last year he placed first, but he is in a whole new age and belt division this year so I am not sure how he will do. First tournament of the season as well, at least it will get his feet wet for next months etc.
I did find out last night at the seminar that we are not the only team parents that can't stand it either. (just due to how long it is..the disorganization we are used to at this point I guess) Most tournaments are only 3-4 hrs long and we don't have to be there as early.
I will pack snacks and sandwiches as I refuse to stand in line for 40 min for a 5 dollar slice of pizza!

Supper tonight will be quick and easy as Kris is working late at a home show, so he will eat when he gets home. Ross wants Spag that is left from the other night that I froze, and I will have a salad.
Not a gourmet night that is for sure!
Have a great day my friends.....I won't get back here until tomorrow after the tournament. "SEE" you all then!

Wendie, I cannot believe you have to be there tomorrow for so long...but I wish Ross lots of luck and hope you have fun! Make the best of it...:thumbsup2

Good morning everyone. Looks like Sammie had a stroke. She slept all night and when she tried to get up this morning only one side of her body cooperated with her. I helped her to stand and when she walks she's leaning to one side. She is slowly starting to do her normal everyday routine stuff and hasn't had any more seizures, thank God. The vet says we just need to take it one hour at a time and see what the day brings.:grouphug: to all for your kind words and prayers. I am whipped out - I stayed up all night and watched her sleep.:guilty:

I don't have a clue WFD tonight.

Positive thoughts coming her way! Keep us posted and take care of yourself.

Dinner tonight will be tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. Our standard Friday night fare. After dinner, the twins are going to a sleep over at their cousins house. We are also picking up 2 nephews for a sleep over at our house. We'll take them to see the high school play, "Bye, Bye Birdie." It should be a fun night.

Tomorrow, we are going to my sister's house (my mom is staying with her for a week, before coming to stay a week at our house) for a barbecue and late Easter egg hunt. My dad is taking a group of people on a tour of Greece and Turkey, and mom can't go because of her dialysis. So, we're "momsitting" until he gets home! The kids are super excited!

Have a great day, everyone!

Kathie - I'm sending prayers and positive thoughts your way! I hope that Sammie has a much better day than yesterday! Take some time to rest today, ok?

Kathy, I am so sorry about Sammy. Keep us posted. I hope everything turns out OK.

I am making fondue tonight.

I was able to get some pictures uploaded this morning...coming up in my next post.

Good Friday Morning everyone!

Kathy- Hope your sweet little Sammie will be ok.

WFD tonight- it's Tyler Friday so dinner is Salmon patties, mac & cheese, and green beans. Bleck, but it's his night to choose dinner.
