Vegas Info

So for our next Adult only vacation we would like to go to Vegas.
We have it down to only a few hotels
Bellagio
Luxor
Caesars Palace
Mandalay Bay
MGM

Any help as to which is the best? We don't plan on hitting the tables or the slots (Mostly checking out the shows, etc)

TIA :) :thumbsup2

The best and most luxurious of the ones you mention is the Bellagio and then Caesars. Next I would say Mandalay Bay and then MGM. You might also consider the Treasure Island - I like this hotel too.

Do not under any circumstance stay at the Luxor. It's so run down. When we were there in August, my son wanted to go in it, and I hadn't been in it in years. It is so run down, and has a funny smell to it. Not at all nice in my opinion.

I would recommend the Bellagio if you are going according to your list. Off list, the Venetian would be my choice. The rooms are beautiful and large. When we went, we stayed at the MGM...it was very nice, but huge!! It took forever to get anywhere. Have a nice trip no matter where you stay!!

I've stayed at all of these, plus many others on the strip. Out of OP's list, I liked the Bellagio rooms the best but I liked Caesar's overall better (stayed in the Augustus tower with Bellagio fountain view--those rooms have more recent remodels). My last stay was at Mandalay a month ago and surprisingly, I did not like staying there at all. The rooms were nice but the waits for elevators were excruciating and I didn't like the casino or the layout of the resort at all.

My favorite favorite is Venetian. Nicest rooms, best dining choices plus love the grand canal shoppes there.

Last year when we went DH talked me into going to Fremont Street (old downtown strip). His reasoning was that we had heared about all of the cheap blackjack tables and food etc. Well we found "a" cheap $3 blackjack table but only one and there was a crowd around it waiting for a spot to open up. The casinos are very dark and smokey. We kept seeing posters for a $3.99 prime rib dinner but never could find the restaurant. We at a someplace in the Golden Nugget I think and it wasn't too bad.

There are so many neat places to see on the new strip, I'll pass next time. For cheap gambling I think I'm going to check out some of the station casinos and see if they are any better.

We just got tickets to see the ACM Tribute to George Strait that is being televised from the MGM on April 6th :thumbsup2 So we are going down from the 6th to the 11th. DH has a bowling tournament at that time. Good excuse for a LV gettaway!:hyper:

AWSOME deal!
The Mirage is realy nice, it was the first "mega resort".
Mystere is a really good show also, at TI.
Its a cirque show.

I'll see if we can check Mystere out. He isn't a big gambler so the shows are his "gambling allowance" HAHAH Thanks!

On your list, I would say Bellagio would be tops. We did go there and walk around.

We stayed at Mandalay Bay and The Ventitian in July. We loved both, but the Venetian was our favorite and I would not hestitate to return.

Okay, I would have recommended the Luxor, but I haven't been there for a few years (although they ARE renovating), especially under the two conditions below. Since two people have recommended against it, I would suggest adding the Venetian to your list of possibilities, especially if:

You have used, and like, Disney's Resort Airline Check-in Service; and
Are, or can, return home Southwest.

That airline, and BAGS, Inc., have an arrangement allowing Guests of the Luxor and the Venetian to check their homebound luggage in AT the resort, and not have to worry about it again until they land.

Just something to consider...

We stayed at the Luxor in Sept. and loved it! It was really nice and there was a monorail that took us to Excalibur and Mandalay Bay. We are definately going back!

We are planning on going to Vegas in July! To celebrate or 1st Anniversary. I've been but Dh hasn't. There are so many things I want to do. The top two are shows, Phantom of the Opera and Bite. We are staying at the Mirage $400 for 7 nights.

When are you guys going? We are going the 23rd through the 28th :thumbsup2

we are going in 2 weeks last minute. we are joining some great friends of ours and they already have plans to see carrot top and o. I am not sure if I wasnt to see carrot top and o tickets seem to expensive. Any advice on either show?

We saw "O" and it was fantastic! yes, the tickets were expensive, but it was wonderful!!!!!

I love the Bellagio (see my tag!) so I would stay there. As for shows you might be able to get some cheaper Cirque tickets when you are there, there are several places that do last minute ticket deals for the shows.

We went to Vegas in 2006. Stayed in the Flamingo (was all we could afford at that time, but it was nice) and visited all of the hotels you listed. I would love to stay at either Caesers Palace or the Bellagio. Both beautiful and with a very "grown up" feel.

We have stayed at Caesars many times, love it- beautiful rooms/hotel, AAA+ Only suggestion I would add is try to stay center strip you will be happier, more of the action center strip also easier to get around. Bellagio looks beautiful also, never stayed there (comped at Caesars).

Out of your list I'd pick Bellagio. I've stayed there 1 time and I really liked the room. I'd probably not stay there again unless I got a great deal on a fountain view room. The hotel just felt a little out of our league (not that it would be out of yours) I ordered a drink at a hotel bar and it was $15. The restaurants are very nice but not my cup of tea. The location can't be beat its just that I prefer the Mirage.

It terms of quality of roooms and location, Bellagio followed by Caesars would be a better choice. IMHO they are another level up on Mandalay Bay, MGM, and two levels up on Luxor. It will depend if money is an issue as they are generally dearer as well. But location wise they are both perfect. If you choose Caesars be sure to book into on of the newer towers that have the newer, much larger rooms.

We have only been once with DH needing to be there for business. We stayed at the Paris and were very pleased.
We had a great view of Bellagio's water show. That was amazing!

:cool1: We're staying at the Paris in June. I'm glad to hear you liked it. We walked through it last time and DH said he wanted to stay there next time. I can't wait!

Any non-Cirque du Soleil/Musical-type shows y'all could recommend? DH isn't into Phantom or Cirque. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. :goodvibes

We have stayed at the Venetian and it was simply stunning ! We are booked to go with our 3 children at the beginning of August for 4 nights, I am not sure how it will be for children but they are going regardless :lmao: This time we are staying at the Mandalay Bay as we thought end of strip and the beach may be good for them. Also when we visited the hotels on our last trip we thought it was a fabulous hotel.I did not fancy the Luxor at all ! And if I had to pick somewhere else it would be the Bellagio.
