So today I woke up with a bunch more bug bites on my legs. I remember that my legs and feet itched so badly because of the bites that I was scratching in my sleep and actually made myself bleed. When Lumar and I got up at 9:30am (hey, it's our day off!), I made him help me pull the sheets off the bed to check for bed bugs. After sleeping there for the last week, I don't know what good it would have done at this point, but I was freaking out. I counted 12 bites all together.
After finding no evidence of bed bugs, we finally start getting ready for our day. As I said, we got up at 9:30am and headed down to the Pepper Market for breakfast around 10am. I was supposed to stop at the ATM and get money for laundry and totally forgot. I remembered when we got all the way back to the room. It was already pretty hot outside and I told Lumar "forget it, I'll just wash it when we get home."
So we skipped laundry and headed to The Dig Site at 11am. We hung out in the pool for about 45 minutes and it was so refreshing and relaxing! I had actually been wearing my Crocs most of the time during the past week so my feet weren't hurting me like they have on past WDW trips, but hanging out in the pool still helped!
We had early dinner reservations at T-Rex at DTD for 3:30pm but had arranged to meet up with Heather and her husband at AKV where they were staying for part of their trip. Honestly, once they told me that they had giraffes and zebra right outside their window...I think I pretty much invited myself over. So we get to AKV and start the extremely long walk down to their room. Ok it wasn't really THAT long, but you get the idea.
They had given all of the animals names. Apparently the same animals would come back every day and hang around in the same spots so they could tell who was who. Hopefully Heather or Brad will hop on and help me out because I don't remember their names.
Brad was a totally awesome husband and tried to surprise Heather with a really nice gift basket full of food and a bottle of champagne. Only the delivery person called the room first and said they were bringing it up and Heather happened to be the one that answered. She was nice enough to share with us. We snacked on some crackers and...umm...cream cheese?? I don't remember what this was....But it was pretty good! And the champagne was really good but I think I finished my glass in umm....2 gulps. I stole a couple of these from Heather....
After snacks, we headed to the bus stop so we could get to DTD for our dinner ADR. Brad and Heather went to WPE and Lumar and I headed to T-Rex, where we were promptly seated in the Ice Room.
I had a Strawberry-Banana smoothie, of course:
And the Tar Pit Fried Shrimp:
And Lumar had the Cretaceous Chicken Fried Steak:
I was kind of full but Lumar wanted dessert so we ordered the Ice Age Indulgence. Holy Stacks of Ice Cream, Batman! This thing was HUGE!
I swear it was at least 3 inches thick. It was absolutely enormous...but YUMMY!
After dinner, we met back up with Heather and Brad and headed to MK for
MNSSHP.
This is the point where, for whatever reason, I guess I fell into a sort of "mood." Maybe it was the lack of sleep from scratching my legs all night long. Or maybe it was the fact that before we left for this vacation, I tried to convince Lumar into buying pirate costumes, and he didn't want to because "everyone does that" and then when we were at MK this past Saturday, he decides that we should be pirates and buy a whole bunch of gear from the PotC gift shop and make our own costumes.
So I tried to make do with what we had but secretly (or not so much from what he tells me), I was not happy. I wasn't able to get things exactly right and I didn't feel comfortable at all. So apparently, I was grumpy on and off throughout the night. Of course, Lumar tells me this on the bus back to the hotel and I felt HORRIBLE because I thought Brad and Heather were going to hate me now and think I was a B-Word.
But back to the party.....
So we change into our...ahem...costumes...in the bathroom just inside the MK gates. We then make a beeline for Fantasyland so we could HOPEFULLY meet the Seven Dwarfs. Dana and Sharon (PrincessInOz) called us and they were also at the party but floating around somewhere like in Adventureland. We told them we would text them when we got done with the Dwarfs. I think we waited about an hour and a half....
Lumar was really bored so he started mime-stabbing people with his rubber pirate knife. Sorry if you are the guy getting "stabbed". I like your shirt!
And finally.....
Next up was Haunted Mansion. I don't remember if we rode it or just took pics....
I'm actually bummed out because I added a nice border to one of the pics with the Ghosts...and it's the ONE picture from this WHOLE TRIP where I BLINKED!!!!
We did chat throughout the night with Dana and Sharon via text message, but it seemed that we were always on opposite sides of the park so we never got the chance to meet up.
At some point we hit up Casey's for dinner (Corn Dog Nuggets!!!) and to watch Wishes, but we were sitting on the ground in front of the piano next to some trash cans, and there are like 543 trees planted right in front of you so we couldn't see much. But it was nice to sit and eat, at least.
We were going to try and get in the line for Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore, but their line was closed because the parade was starting. So we headed over to Pirates instead:
As we were headed back towards Main Street, we saw a Meet & Greet line for Jane, Turk, AND Tarzan! We got in line, and POOF! Tarzan leaves. He was the whole point of getting in line so we left. At some point, we also saw a line for Abu from Aladdin, but he was also leaving just as we got there.
We decided to head out at that point as we were all feeling tired. We did happen to catch these guys though on the way!
Brad and Eeyore had a bit of a scuffle....it seems that Eeyore really has it out for Brad over Heather. I don't know...I wasn't there. But maybe one of them can tell you the story....
Oh, and as Lumar and I were heading upstairs to our room back at CSR, I almost stepped on this.....
Yes, it is a giant, yellow, Silence of the Lambs moth. Kinda sorta pretty in an ugly creepy bug kinda way. Look at how big it is!
