Chapter 16: We finally meet our favorite Disney family!
Day Three: September 13th, 2013
We got back to our room, and I have it noted that we changed? Or maybe Matt did... who knows. But I did put my new fun little Muppets friends on my MagicBand that I was totally rockin' even though I couldn't use it yet (MagicBands were only being tested at Beach Club and not Wilderness Lodge, but we still wore them anyway)... I wanted to feel like a cool kid I guess.
Matt obviously went with the Haunted Mansion print cover. It looked fabulous!
I took a photo of our purchases that morning, as well.. including my Basin White shampoo/conditioners... and my beautiful baaaag after I took off the tissue paper wrapped around the tassels, and I put the tag on it, as well.
Since the weather wasn't going to be bad, I decided it'd be a perfect day to bring my lovely new bag along with us to Downtown Disney!
We headed down to the bus stop to wait for a bus, where I modeled my bag like a total dork.
HEY GIRL HEEEYYYYY.
The bus showed up pretty quickly for DTD, and we hopped on.. and were blessed by the most glorious AC ever. It was REALLY hot out this day, so I was actually happy to be sitting on the bus, even if it decided to take 8 years to get there. It actually didn't take very long to get there, though I think we may have stopped at a place or two. I'm not sure! Mainly because I was too happy enjoying the air conditioning.
We finally arrived at DTD, and were very excited! We're big fans of DTD... and I have no idea why Matt has awkward arms in this photo, hahaha.
Anyway, we knew through the grapevine (okay not really, we'd been chatting via Facebook chat) that Jenn (AKA FantasylandMom here on the DIS) was in DTD getting some food over at Wolfgang Puck's Express with her lovely family.
Let me just back up here for a second and explain how this was a BIG DEAL for us.
Jenn is one of those people who both Matt and I just click with. We have gotten along really well since we first started chatting here on the DIS, which evolved to Facebook and then Google chat, and yeah. We both just see her and her husband Brandon as really great friends, and her kids are just beyond precious. We've sent each other fun care packages, cards, etc... Normal things that really awesome friends do for each other...
EXCEPT we had never met in person.
It's weird, because for some reason I just wasn't that nervous to meet Jenn and her family! I guess maybe because I just knew we'd get along or something, I don't know. I feel like meeting someone from online is usually a weird/nerve-wracking thing, but with her, it wasn't at all.
Wait, no, I was a little nervous about the kids. I wasn't sure if they'd be super shy and want nothing to do with us, as kids sometimes can be. But then again, they seemed to love watching us in our past trip video, which made me think that maybe they'd be happy to see us.
Anyway, Matt and I made our way over to WPE and as we started walking up, I saw some little hands waving at us through the glass window, and spotted the whole family smiling and waving! It was SO cute and such a wonderful way to spot them.
We said hi really quickly, and they are the cutest family ever. The kids seemed really excited, which was also wonderful! Of course, since it was lunch time, WPE was bumpin', and we were separated by a little divider, plus we wanted to let them eat, so we told them we'd meet up with them later, as we were heading off to Earl of Sandwich for lunch.
It's always nice when you finally meet someone (or I guess in this case, the whole fam!) in person and everyone is just so excited to talk! We were definitely looking forward to hanging out with them more (and that we did!).
We walked into Earl of Sandwich and it was really BUSY in there. But the line was moving relatively quickly, as the girl at the register was cruising through getting everyone's orders. It was actually impressive watching her.
By the time we paid, our sandwiches were all ready for us to eat. We headed outside (inside had no tables since everyone wanted to avoid the heat), and found a table pretty easily.
Matt went with the Chipotle Chicken Avocado sandwich:
I went with one of my favorites, Earl's Club. I ALMOST went with the Thanksgiving, but the thought of it kind of made me nauseous. Something odd about eating that sandwich when it's 90 degrees outside, hahaha.
Our sandwiches were delicious, and we hung around for a few before Jenn and the family found us! We chatted for a few, then decided to head over to the pin store.
Jenn's daughters, Julia and Brynn, both were able to choose a pin, so we showed them all of the different choices in the store. Matt and I also picked up more of the Epcot and Haunted Mansion pins for ourselves, along with an Epcot 30 Figment pin, and the September Haunted Mansion poster.
Epic fail on my part, because I didn't get any photos of the poster or Epcot 30 one, wompwomp.
Anyway, the girls picked out their pins, and then we headed over to Once Upon A Toy, where the kids went and made Mr. Potato Heads.
In the meantime, us adults caught up a bit and talked about how excited we were to finally meet and all that fun stuff, and heard all about their adventurous drive down (which you've probably seen in Jenn's TR if you're reading it, haha).
Before I forgot, I made SURE to get a photo with Jenn though. I'm notorious for meeting people and forgetting to get a photo with them, so now was the time! I must say, I really like this photo of us together! YAY FOR FINALLY MEETING WONDERFUL FRIENDS!
After some Potato head makin', we stepped outside where people were blowing bubbles. And ya know what bubbles means? It means fun times, especially for Sawyer, who is the cutest little peanut in the land.
I mean, look at those little Crocs. I just can't even..
After everyone came back from a quick potty break, Jenn and Brandon were planning on heading back to their resort and we had some plans for ice cream, so we said goodbye and told them we'd see them later on in the day over at Epcot!
Matt and I headed off for Ghirardelli, because we love that ice cream to a ridiculous degree. But I was sad to learn that they no longer have the Cookie Bottom Sundae, wompwomp. So I instead went with the Gold Rush, and Matt went with some sort of Butterscotch Sundae.
After we ordered, Matt had ninja-like table-finding skills and I heard "LOOKTHEREGO." and I darted to a table that was actually inside the store in the glorious AC.
Interestingly enough, Ghirardelli also went the route of the one in Disneyland and now uses plastic cups for the ice cream, which was totally fine with me. I like having the option of taking it to-go if I want!
This was Matt's Butterscotch sundae:
And my Gold Rush, which includes peanut butter, so yum.
I was a big fan of the Gold Rush! It wasn't as intense as the Cookie Bottom, so I was definitely happy with my choice.
We finished eating our sundaes (I'll maintain that they really do have the best ice cream, as much as I love my dear Beaches and Cream), we obviously needed to go take a walk through World of Disney!
We didn't find anything though, just did some perusing since we knew we'd be back many more times.
We decided to head back towards the Marketplace bus area, and stopped by Art of Disney on our way out. They had this AMAZINGLY awesome Oswald statue that I figured Matt would really want, and he definitely thought it was neat, but wanted to see what else was out there. No surprise there, since Matt likes to really figure out exactly what he wants but won't make any early decisions during a trip.
We headed out of DTD and caught a bus back to Boardwalk. We even had the bus all to ourselves! We realized that it'd be way quicker to just get off at the Boardwalk and walk to Epcot than waiting for Yacht Club or Beach Club, since the DTD bus usually stops at BW first, or that was our thought anyway.
Matt was happy about it, and so was I, YAY!
We decided to open our blind box pins on the bus, because we're awesome like that.
