Toddler Questions

Some of the shows are shown at 3 in the afternoon too. Check some of the posted navigators to see what's typically offered during your cruise.
Typically, if one of the production shows is on a sea day, they might have a matinee performance, depending if the theatre is needed for extra rehearsals, or other events. The shows are also shown on the TV in your room. Although it's a pre-recorded performance and won't be the actual cast that's performing on your cruise.

We have the same concern. Our 2 year old loves the pool and Grandma doesn't have restrictions in hers. I'm hoping we can just herd him to the reef area and he'll be content. Stomping in puddles is one of his favorite things right now but getting sprayed in the face not so much.

Lots of good information here. We're going on out 7th DCL cruise but the first with a toddler so it seems a bit different. Does Cabanna's have high chairs that are easy to get a hold of or would we be better off at one of the other restaurants for breakfast and lunch?

My lil one doesn't like the getting sprayed in the face either but he had no problem in the reef area all week. We were surprised at how long he stayed in that area. Your little one will love it. It is super easy to watch them there.

An activity both my 2 & 4yos loved was the Shuffleboard on Deck 4. It got a lot of their energy out. We did encounter a couple of dirty looks and heavy sighs when an older family wanted to actually play shuffleboard (by the rules), but we stood our ground & allowed our kids a fair amount of time to enjoy what they were doing.
At uncrowded times, deck 4 can be a great little running track for an active kiddo!

Did the deck 4 laps with the young on as well. Sorry about the "looks and sighs". You did call dibbs on the shuffle board, I hope :)

Yup! Stood our ground on that one! Especially as our little guy was feeling quite left out of all the pool fun his big sis was having. We have no problems saying 'No' to our kids & following rules, but managing an unhappy 2yo who just wants to "SWIM" was tough at times. Our kids are like fish at home :) Regardless - that's all behind us and we are SO psyched to hit the Fantasy in October with TWO potty-trained kiddos!!! Woohoo!!!

Just got back from a three nighter with a toddler (and her 9 year old sister). The toddler is two.

We requested the crib, and not only was that in our room as soon as we got in, they'd also given us the diaper genie without asking! We told our stateroom host that we only needed the pulldown bed made up since the toddler was sleeping in the crib.

Nemo's Reef was great, but only held her attention for so long. There were some older kids that shouldn't have been in there, and kids who didn't understand the concept of waiting in line for the slide. Other than that, she did seem to enjoy it.

We did the main seating for dinner. Our server was AMAZING. I mean - trying to feed her, bring her whatever we thought she'd eat - amazing. We didn't think clearly the first two nights, and finally brought the tablet for distraction purposes the final night.

She LOVED the nursery. The security is top notch - kid taps their band to get in, and when you check them out you scan your card, give your secret password, and then they tap their band again. The staff was so kind and caring, she instantly took to all of them. Have a diaper bag or other type of bag ready with essentials (diapers, wipes, change of clothes, etc.). They'll label everything with their name. Also, BONUS! Characters do visit the nursery, and they will take and print pictures for free. Chip and Dale came on Pirate Night and she fell in love. Also, the nursery was very flexible in terms of drop off and pick up. We were able to drop her off early twice, and picked her up early as well. We booked her in each night from 8-10 during the shows, which was totally worth the extra cost we initially hadn't planned on.

An unexpected source of entertainment was the live music in the atrium each night. She really enjoyed dancing around and so did a huge group of other kids.

As far as meeting the characters...that's a big judgement call. She did not do well waiting in line, even the short ones. Then she got super excited to run up and hug them, but had no interest in having her picture taken. Looking back, we may have skipped a few. But the Princess Gathering and Anna and Elsa were worth it since these are ticketed and the lines were much shorter. She had the most fun running around with Peter Pan and helping him find Tinkerbell.

She managed to stay awake for the fireworks. The big talking pirate skull scared her a bit. She LOVED the pirate dance party.
