Things Disney Offers But Doesn't Advertise *Summary Added Oct 08*

Thanks for the help!

As for everyone wondering about the breakfast in Paris, you just book the reservation early in the morning and you show up to the park with your confirmation number and you'll be escorted inside to the restaraunt! It's very cool.

PARIS?! as in the FRANCE PAVILLION? you're sure? the restaurants in the France pavillion don't serve breakfast... i thought maybe it referred to the bakery... but the bakery does not take ADRs... color me confused! :confused3

Hmmm I think someone misinformed me to the sitdown restaraunts in France. I actually don't think that they serve breakfast except for the pastry place. But the only one you can get in early with is Norway. That's what the dining people told me. Although, someone else told me different about the French restaraunts

Thanks for posting about the menus at Artist Point and Narcoossee's, Brad.

I just talked directly with someone at Narcoossee's and they said that you simply need to mention the special event when you make your ADR, and they will personalize the menu. I don't think it is as customized as the ones they make at the Coral Reef (where they include your photos), but it still sounds nice.

I have seen the "personalized" menus at the Artist Point, and they simply are personalized by adding your name/event to the menu (no photos). Again, a very nice touch, but not as nice as the Coral Reef.

Thanks for the help guys!

I also have another question. While we're on our trip it's going to be my mom's eighth year of sobriety and it's a huge deal for everyone in our family. I really wanted to do something special for her like a customized congratulations menu or something.

I want it to say something like "Happy 8th birthday mom! Thanks for all your hard work. I love you"
I don't know if they can bring her a little desert or something. Can this be done at any restaraunt?

Wow! Congrats to your mom! :yay:

There's a great thread on cakes here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=25734133#post25734133
and the phone numbers to all the restaurants are there too.

Good luck and have fun.

Last October, all I got was a menu with my name spelled wrong at Coral Reef. That was a customized as I received.

Did you (or your family) send in digital pictures to be included? We have not ate there yet, but for our upcoming celebrations at CR, we were told to submit up to 5 pictures for each menu.

For future reference, and for others, I have researched this topic a bit. Here is the 411 I found (most of it directly from Debbi SACLEUX, the Area Manager at the Coral Reef) for these FREE services at the Coral Reef...

DIVER SIGN
- It is currently part of the YOMD celebration, and is done in partnership with DiveQuest
- There are only a few opportunities each day. First come, first served.
- To request a dive banner, send an email to wdw.epcot.coral.reef.restaurant@disney.com
- In the email, include date, time, and reservation number.

PERSONALIZED MENUS
- Separately the Coral Reef also offers personalized menus to celebrate events. Can also be set up through the same email address. Once this is set up, you will be given an email address to send photos and other suggestions (favorite Disney characters) to use in customizing the menu
- They most commonly celebrate BDays and anniversaries, but CAN celebrate almost anything (1st trip, Nemo says hi, welcome...etc as long as it's family oriented)

- It is much easier (not limited to only a few guests) to set up a customized menu. Simply send pictures and a special message and they will take care of the rest. Please make sure the reservation information is noted in the e-mail so that they can match the pictures to the reservation.

Please note that they receive numerous requests and it may take awhile for them to answer the messages. They try to stay in order so that we do not skip over a guest that have sent a request.

As of early August, they are not currently taking requests for January 2009.

Hope that helps.

after FINALLY getting thru all 50+ pages of this thread I realized that no one mentioned my favorite:

when you buy the chocolate dipped (and M&M/Sprinkle/nut rolled) marshmallows at Goofy's on Main Street or DTD they come on a Mickey Mouse straw (the ones they sell at the lunch counters). Once we are done with our marshmallow confections we wash the straws and have a great souvenir!

also, someone on another thread mentioned sitting near Atomic Ray's at the start of Wishes and you can see Tink fly thru the air - what is that? We usually watch from our hotel as the kids are exhausted by then but mayb we will try this year to keep them up late.

Thanks Bret for the 411.

We are going w/some first-timers this year, and it will be one of their birthdays.

I think the cakes are too steep a price for us, but I wanted to try the diver sign. I didn't realize it was limited, so I'll shot Deb an e-mail and see if there are any availabilities left.

Also, isn't the customized menu option free? I'll have to get in touch w/my SIL's husband to send me some pictures secretly.

Thanks Bret!

Tinkerbell (a CM dressed up as Tink), actually flies down a wire from atop the Castle. If you haven't seen this, you must! I still get butterflies in my stomach when she flies (weather permitting). She will not fly if there is any lighening in the area.

people need to use the email, not the phone #...Debbi has asked the phone # no longer be posted on the disboards, and only use the new email and she will get back to you.... we have to remember , this is Disney Magic that she provides free of charge, but is in no way obligated to do this for us... she also has a restaurant to run... if you call the # it now just has a recording that gives you the email address as well as what info to leave...

I could go with the ds for the Nov bday, but i am afraid you are sol in my book. unless you are planning to celebrate an unbirthday at disney? really why cheapen a special event? plan your trip for your bday and then wear your pin

We can't take two trips in one year to be closer to both our b-days, so we chose a date in the middle of both b-days, which also works out great because it is a less-busy time. We won't be going back for another 3-5 yrs. It's okay though, I'm not offended as I asked for feedback :) I'll probably wear a b-day pin one day and let ds wear his the whole time

Okay everyone I am NOT crazy. XD So after a lot of emails and phone calls I found out that you CAN have breakfast in France before the park opens...if your checkbook can handle it :rotfl: Unless you are willing to pay 1,200 dollars for a meal than I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon.

I guess as long as you're willing to pay for it there are basically no limits to what you can do at Disney. Their private events range up to thousands of dollars (I think I was told a private event after the park closed would be around 4 thousand).

Maybe someday when i'm rich and famous *sigh*

She also won't fly if it's pretty windy (and I also heard she won't fly in the rain).

I plan on wearing a birthday pin when I'm down there next week. I turned 30 this year. I couldn't go on my actual birthday in June because we had just found my brain tumor and weren't sure what needed to be done for it and weren't sure I could risk riding rides and stuff. I don't see it as cheapening anything. I'm celebrating my birthday. This is my birthday trip. It just happens to be 3 months after the fact because that's when I could celebrate it, and honestly, after what I've been through, I think I deserve it.

There is absolutely NO shame in wearing a birthday pin not on your actual birthday. It's whenever you want to celebrate it! I've done it countless times! I can't take off school to go to Disneyland so i'll go that weekend and wear the pin.

When my mom and I go to WDW in October it's going to be my mom's eight year of sobriety so we always have a little "birthday" celebration. I fully intend on making her wear that pin all day XD

Frankly, I think your reasoning is very sound, honugirl, and you absolutely deserve it! :goodvibes All the best to you for continuing good health!
