I saw men wearing jeans when we had brunch at Palo. DH was ticked because he got sent back due to wearing nice dress shorts. He went and changed, but he then kept pointing out to me the people wearing jeans. I think it depends on the staff.

My husband forgot to pack his usual 'Palo brunch' Dockers when we sailed the Fantasy last summer. The did offer to lend us a pair of black pants. They were size 40, and my DH is a 34!:rotfl2: Luckily he still had his 'tux' pants. "NO WAY," was his reply when I suggested to him to just wear his tux pants and a button-down shirt. He was going to skip the brunch because he was too embarrassed to wear them with a casual shirt!:lmao: I calmly assured him, 'people will not really be paying attention, and brunch is what we look forward to the MOST." So, we went, no one really noticed (didn't see anyone staring at him,) and it was the best brunch yet! We even secured a SECOND Palo brunch that same cruise when two others canceled.

Well, on our 6 nt Magic sailing last week, one 20 something YO woman came straight from the pool! She was being led to her table by the dining room manager and she was wearing a bathing suit under a dress type cover up. You could see the halter style swim top as her cover up was one of those pull on types w/out any sleeves what so ever. To top it off, she had wet hair in a messy pony tail and flip flops.

As she approached the table, her 3 dining companions (appeared to be her SO and one set of their parents all dressed nicely) stated, "well, we thought you weren't going to make it!"

Swimwear is not even acceptable for the main dining rooms, much less Palo. I'm not one to complain to CMs about dress code violations but I sure did as we were leaving that day.

    What was the CM's response?

He stated he agreed with me and acted like he was going to go check it out. But he also mentioned that it must have been the Palo Manager that led her back as he was the one on duty before him. If the manager allowed her in, don't know what they could do at that point except maybe point out that in the future, she'd be required to change.

DH said I should just let it go but with it being swimwear, it really bothered me. I felt they needed to know that people noticed.

My husband and I went to Remy brunch on the Fantasy in March and there were at least 3 couples seated at the table next to us and I swear they looked like they had just rolled out of bed. The women were all dressed in swimsuits and coverups and hadn't even brushed their hair. I couldn't believe that they allowed them in dressed like that.

I used it as a good excuse to sleep in! I have a hard time convincing myself to sleep in on vacation but Palo brunch day was a good day to do so. I don't want breakfast anyway that day. Plus, I'm not getting ready casually, then changing for Palo, then back to casual or pool wear then back for dinner. It's a great night sleep, followed by an awesome meal next day.

We went to Palo brunch on the Magic last week. It was GREAT, but I just couldn't bring myself to try the grape pizza. If they have it on the Fantasy, I will try it then.

Ok. Now I am confused. Is a pair of khakis and a polo, or other short sleeved collared shirt, okay for the guys nor no?

For brunch that will be fine. Not dinner, I think.

For dinner they'd need a jacket I think. But for brunch khakis (not shorts) and polo are fine. Apparently Hawaiian shirts are fine too, seen lots of those.

Slacks, shirt and tie are completely acceptable for dinner. Jackets are not a requirement.

Good. We are going to try the brunch for the first time. Shirt and khakis or slacks seems more doable than a jacket in the middle of the day in the Caribbean. Now to figure out how much to tip. Confused from that thread too, but I love all the info available here on the DIS!

My husband was sent back up to change out of his jeans when he arrived for Palo Brunch last time. I was almost sent to change because once we sat down the hostess realized i had on jeans too. Now my jeans were silver anklets from White House Black Market and very dressy nice "jeans". Anyway i opted not to go change after looking around and seeing others dressed in frumpy cotton clothes. Go figure. :rotfl2:

My recommendation don't wear jeans even nice dressy jeans no matter how expensive they are they don't care. Put on anything cotton that isn't shorts and you will be fine. :thumbsup2

I know exactly what you mean!!! :lmao:

We go through this every cruise. To book or not to book. Since the Palo Brunch is so yummy we opt to get all gussied up and go.

It's worth the "effort" :rotfl2: to move from the pool lounge chair to change into nice clothes and go to Palo.

Oh the decisioons we make whilst on our cruises. Wink Wink!! :thumbsup2

Enjoy your Palo Brunch. We rave about this brunch to anyone and everyone that we can. :thumbsup2
