The Most Expensive Free Trip Ever - TR Link is Up! Pg. 164

Our family is in northwestern Pennsylvania (we live in southeastern PA). My in-laws live about 10 miles from my parents, so we go back and forth between houses, eating large meals at each!

Isn't that the way all things in heaven on earth should be? 1 visit, 2 meals, 3 happy people- followed by one big happy exit with just enough distance in between.

If there's one thing I can say about all these family gatherings I've experienced, it's that I'M SICK OF TURKEY! :rotfl:

Sounds like a great Christmas. After all those food porn pics in your TR from this summer, I can't imagine you guys sponging on both families for large meals.......:rotfl2:

I just found you and got all caught up. You're going to be there the same week as we are! In fact, your Saturday, Sunday, and Monday plans all have some similarities to what we have in mind right now - we're even going to Sci-Fi on Sunday for lunch (but a really late one). We're spending our whole day at DHS for SWW.

Enjoying your PTR! Hope you have a safe trip back home.

Mmmmmm, homemade food as a reward for traveling. Sounds like a great way to travel. ;) I hope your travels, time with family and the food were all wonderful. :)

We're back home! Or, at least in the door...car-top carrier put away, groceries in the fridge, but duffel bags are scattered here and there.

that made me laugh because my mom thinks of it as a personal afront if you don't eat a huge meal everytime you're here. My Grandmas was even worse she included 4 course breakfasts into the mix.

Funny you should say that. I caught a little grief my first Thanksgiving married to my wife, when we ate at my in-laws for the 2nd T'giving meal of the day (first at my parents' house). I didn't eat much, being so full, and my mother-in-law wasn't too keen on it. Since then I've either learned to pace myself, or stretched my stomach some...probably a little of both.

4 course breakfast!

my kids are lucky to get ONE out of me!

That should be plenty, huh?!

Hey, cool. I finally found my way here so I can follow along.

:welcome: Marvin! Yes, it helps when I get the links working right, doesn't it? Thanks for pointing it out to me! Glad you're here.

And :welcome: FairyGodmotherJen!! That's cool that you'll be there the same time. I'd like to hear how your plans shape up too.

I really like the way you put that....I totally agree.

We had more than 3 happy people though...5 in my family, then 13 more (parents, siblings, nieces and nephews) at my parents' house, and 10 more at my in-laws'.

That's too funny Jenbear...we had no turkey the whole time. We had ham at my parents and prime rib at my in-laws.

Sponging?! As I pointed out a couple of posts above, you risk insulting the cook if you don't stuff yourself.

I'll give you a run-down on the pies...

My mom's house:
pecan
blueberry
chocolate (pudding)
white christmas (coconut meringue)
banana caramel

My in-law's:
banana cream
key-lime

I'd say that's worth the trip. ;)

Loving your PTR - and hoping to start mine soon (Fingers crossed)
You and your family will love HDDR - we sure did - food is great and unlimited and entertainment is knee slapping :)

Jealous about SWW - our son would love it but just can't seem to get down in time for that.

and I say skip the last day of school!

happens to the best of us.
we cant be on all the time, just 90% percent of the time.

 You caught me at my bad 10%.

:welcome: we3are1!!

We made the last weekend of SWW back in 2005 also...my son loved it, especially his "jedi training". I agree regarding the last day of school. We'll have to see how it works out. So far, so good....the big snow we got a week and a half ago hit on Saturday so we only had a delayed opening on the following Monday.

I mainly lurked after checking in on your TR. I might do it again :) I'll try not to, but no promises!

Happy New Year!!
