The Magic Of Happiness Is Here! A Tokyo TR Update 8/19

I am continuing to enjoy your trip report! I sooooo wish we could have gone to Tokyo Disney Sea while we were there. I know for sure we'll have to include it during our next trip to Japan! :earboy2:

YAY
oh my god it's seriously so beautiful. Pictures of DisneySea are beyond amazing, thank you for all the detail in them! They're gorgeous!
I'm definitely jumping on board with at least the Tangled/Batb shirts like that, #yolo . Bahahah. That other one is GORGEOUS though, and WOW THAT MERCH!! I'm DEAD! I struggled to find ANYTHING Aladdin in wdw last year!!
I was reading other TR's of people getting stopped in the city for pictures, and I could imagine being with Alicia in a park it would be crazier, lol, it must be SO much easier for them to be recognized over there!!
Yay for popcorn!!
Can't wait to read more!!
And thank you for the tips!!

Its just another reason for a trip for japan! Disney Sea is a must go for a Disney fan.

I went a little crazy with the picture taking on this trip. I just needed to try to get all the beauty and details in the parks.
Yeah while in the park you will notice them taking "selfies" with you in the background. Its weird but whatever.

Amazing!!!!!! Love love love ur TRs x
Thank you!

Chandu Tail: OISHI!!!!

The Arabian Coast is so much bigger and detailed then just the courtyard. They have a cute little “ally” way full of photo ops. On our way to get song chandu tails we passed by Jafar just walking around.

while many of the snack lines are forever waits this was basically a walk up.

This is hands down my favorite snack or thing I have eaten on this trip

Chandu tail: Is a steamed bun with creamed chicken and corn inside. Marisa’s review “it’s like a pot pie in a bun”

Lost river delta was just across the way

26098008454_37bfa72fa4_z.jpg

We headed over to lost river delta to get fast passes for Indiana jones.

26625365322_564bfb6c19_z.jpg

After retrieving some fastpasses we walked around the area to see what kind of quick services they had.

Mexican food? Who doesn’t like that? We added that to the list of options we would be willing to eat at

26625361632_88d5e7f849_z.jpg

We then walked over to Discovery Port, where we decided to take the electric railway to the American waterfront.

The 10 minute wait was more like a 5 minute wait. We hopped aboard and watched the park down below. I wish I could have stayed on longer but that tower of terror was waiting for us.

Out of all the rides in Disney Sea I was most looking forward to tower of terror. The different story line was so interesting and the different idea other than the twilight zone was a nice spin on a personal favorite.

But of course we took a million photos before we went entered that elevator.

It’s been quite awhile since we had paper fastpasses in our lives thanks to WDW fastpass+ system.

Welcome to Hotel Hightower

26761463665_afe32f8217_z.jpg

26761460405_8a88700e53_z.jpg

Right as you walk into the hotel lobby you are part of the story, you are put into a room with so much details. unfortunately being in the fastpass line you don’t get much time to look around and take pictures.

26761452885_377efe5784_z.jpg

26761450425_c3f0b832f8_z.jpg

26761449145_02e1ed3b67_z.jpg

After you go through the lobby your phone and camera must go away, Alicia was told to put her phone anyway even though she wasn’t taking pictures.
After the lobby we were moved into a room with pictures all over the wall with pictures of Harrison Hightower from all his travels and were told about his travels. I don’t actually know because it was all in Japanese, as is the whole attraction. but over all the ride is about…

“Harrison Hightower III was a wealthy and notorious explorer and collector. On New Year's Eve 1899, he was to hold a press conference in his luxurious Hotel Hightower to announce his acquisition of a strange statue named Shiriki Utundu, recovered on an expedition to a remote region of Africa. Something went terribly wrong however: As Mr. Hightower was taking his statue to the hotel's penthouse apartment, the elevator inexplicably came crashing down to the ground! The statue was the only thing found in the elevator; Mr. Hightower mysteriously disappeared without a trace. (It was after this "accident" that people began calling the hotel the "Tower of Terror.") The hotel remained closed for over 100 years, but was recently opened by the New York City Preservation Society to allow people to tour the hotel and view Mr. Hightower's collection of treasures.”

The pre-show is one of the coolest things I have every seen, once again its all in Japanese but when they make Shirki Utundu disappear before your eyes your like “what is this sorcery called Disney magic?”
After the preshow you are then entered into a double decker loading waiting area, we were on the ground floor and you walked by all the stolen artifacts. Then you get in a line by a number where you are placed in your elevator row order. Our room for this was a rug room. So many rugs just hanging on the wall. Apparently all rooms are different.
Then it was time for the ride!

Loving seeing your photos of Disney Sea. We were there a couple of weeks ago, but it was pouring rain. Looking at your photos is like I've never even been there! Just shows what some wet weather will do to you. We couldn't really appreciate it at all I don't think.

That Chandu Tail looks delish! Your pics are making me want to go back to Japan, just for Tokyo Disney Sea! We missed out on so much!

Oh no, that is the saddest thing ever. Our morning at disneyland was like that but ended up clearing up. I hope you get to go back to Sea to experience it with some better weather.

I miss CHandu tails in my life. Every time I look at my pictures I just want to go back and experience it all over again.

Models For Disney Sea

Did tower of terror live up to my expectation? To be honest it was a little of a let down and it breaks my heart to say that.
I guess I was unaware of how spoiled I was with wdw version. Being pushed back right away into the elevator shaft was a surprise to me. Then I learned this is how California’s and Paris is. Overall it is very short, unlike florida’s where you move through the building to get to get from one elevator shaft to another which takes more time, the whole ride consists in one spot.
Lastly were the seatbelts, I felt like drop was less thrilling thanks to being very secure in your seat.
Overall the storyline makes up for all these little differences and it’s a must do when you visit Disney Sea.

26668037392_5b06a3ba9c_z.jpg

But like any good Disney attraction you are dropped off in a gift shop, this was the old pool room of the hotel.

After tower we walked around the American Waterfront.

I loved just walking around the parks and seeing everyones outfits/costumes. They dress up their kiddos so cute I could just die.
Just a little chan duckling

Alicia found a popcorn flavor she wanted (white chocolate) and the stand right next to it was selling another snack I had on my list to try. The mickey popsicle, or Tokyo’s closest thing to a dole whip. Alicia then asked me to get her the raspberry minnie one because today was dedicated to eating all the food we could consume.

These popsicles were great and I would be opposed to bringing them to the US parks. The best part was that it was a cool day and they weren’t melting down our hands.

While we enjoyed our treats we walked to the Mediterranean Harbor where we caught the end of the new Gelatoni show, Come Join Your Friends.

Gelatoni, is by far the cutest tokyo disney character, sorry Duffy and shellie may.

Along with Duffy, Shellie and Gelatoni some other Disney friends joined along in the fun.

After they floated away we made our way to the pirate ship, Fortress Explorations.

26178108444_f67fa4abe9_z.jpg

This fortress is basically like a tom sawyers island in a way. You can explore inside the castle and do a quest like game (we didn’t because it’s all in Japanese) and you can also explore a huge ship.

Our main reason for coming to the fort was to meet a certain pirate, however we were early and some time to kill. We started with all the shipping crates right of the boat that has been turned a little jungle gym for kids.

Marisa started this thing where all the guests were probably thinking “whats wrong with these americans?” On the little climber thing they had a wall that Marisa decided to try to hang from. Which then started the conversation of if we were in a movie situation and had to hold ourselves up on a ledge while we’re dangling below, we would be dead.

Come Join Your Friends was the show that I really wanted to see and to be introduced to the new character Gelatoni. Oh well, it wasn't meant to be on our trip, but something to look forward to in the future! Those ice cream treats look yummy!

Yum those chandu tails look so good
Can't wait for the next instalment x x
They are the best and I wish I could have one right now

To the ship, to the ship, to the ship!

I didn’t really expect so much interactive things aboard the ship, but I wasn’t mad one bit about it.

We headed back on land and waited around for Jack Sparrow. Alicia didn’t know where he was coming from or where he would be meeting in the area. All we knew was that we were in the right area because all the fans were waiting around with their fancy cameras.
Then we saw him coming towards us. First off unlike wdw characters in Tokyo parks are free roaming. So their are no queue lines to wait for them. This will bring in a flock of “fans” the Japanese guests have their “favorites” and will go to many of their sets to take photos. This was my first experience with these fans and I felt like Alicia didn’t get me prepared with what I was going to experience. Lucky for us Alicia has a close bond with Jack Sparrow and interacted with us first.
He was kind enough to give Alicia some dreadlocks like himself

This was my first time ever meeting Jack and I never knew how fun it would be to meet him

26748523942_a96af4eb27_z.jpg

We basically hit it off and became instant BFFs

26748519272_d5c2a8a0dd_z.jpg

After taking up most of Jack’s time we headed out of the fortress in search of some lunch

26748517782_8da45dd3ef_z.jpg

We headed to the Arabian coast to get some curry, but made a quick stop to get a picture with Ariels castle under the sea.

26569638300_aa454a802d_z.jpg

We headed to Casbah food court and enjoyed some delicious curry

26748516162_6a6bf6bf62_z.jpg

Alicia and I both got the beef curry with rice and naan bread. I loved it, I definitely recommend it!

26569653860_d1a0526c90_z.jpg

Marisa went with the set of 3 curry, chicken, beef and shrimp (I wish I liked shrimp because I couldn’t decide between chicken and beef)

26569652940_503632c415_z.jpg

Overall I recommend this quick service and would come back here on a future trip.
After our meal we explored the rest of the Arabian coast

26808542306_431b03c44c_z.jpg

26842542055_12cb0754ac_z.jpg

This was the start of Marisa becoming obsessed with the plate wall.

26808540996_1813501ac1_z.jpg

I have officially become super obsessed with this park and all its detail.

26842541415_7a398877b6_z.jpg

We were up for another fastpass and decided to get one for 20,000 leagues under the sea since that is non-existent in WDW. Once getting those fps we headed back to the fortress because Alicia wanted to get a polaroid picture with Jack Sparrow.

I am loving this report. You were so lucky to have been able to make the trip while Alicia was still there.

What type of camera do you use? These photos are amazing! We need to buy a new camera for our overseas adventure next year, and would love to hear what you used :)

Thank You so much!

How fun to meet Jack Sparrow! That curry dish with naan bread looks so yummy!
I never knew Jack would be so fun too meet. It was delicious!

The details in that park look incredible, awesome photos by the way x
There is so much detail in the park which is probably why I love it so much

We Meet Again Jack Sparrow

We headed back to the fortress to meet Jack Sparrow again. At this point we were trying to see how many time we could meet him in one day. This time he changed up his meeting area and we got in “line” which was just the fans swarming him with their cameras.

His set was ending and told us to follow him. Where was he taking us? We had no clue, but EVERYONE followed him. He led us out of the fortress and over to the Cape Cod area where he met up with pluto, they spun in a circle with each other and went through a door.

The wait didn’t seem bad at all, it was moving fairly quickly. However when we go to the front they roped it off and we had to wait about 15 minutes. The gondolas are not on a track, so the workers need their rest.
The real dream would to be to stay at the Mira costa with a park view, I mean you’re basically staying inside Disney Sea. Most if not all the windows you see above the stores and restaurants in the Mediterranean Harbor are all rooms of the Mira Costa resort.
The gondolas were back up and running and we got on the first boat.

26894061555_d3626c8197_z.jpg

The poor guy rowing the back of the gondola looked like the job was taking a toll on him and I couldn’t imagine doing that all day.

26800607432_93a3b8cdeb_z.jpg

It was a nice little ride to the harbor and then back, nothing overly extravagant yet still a nice relaxing ride to soak up the sights of the park.

our time opened up for our Indiana Jones fastpass so we headed to the back of the park to the lost river delta. We walked through Port Discovery and saw some familiar faces.

I’ve never experienced Indiana Jones before. They have one in Disneyland but I was only ever there when I was a baby and it wasn’t around. So this was another new experience for me and I had no idea what to expect.
This might have been my favorite ride so far, the track reminded me of Dinosaur from Animal Kingdom and it was pretty awesome.

WOW, meeting Jack Sparrow again? That's great!

So the Indiana Jones Adventure is the same or similar to the one at Disneyland? I've been on the DL one several times, so I'm just curious.
