The Greatest Hits: A Trip Like This Needs a Soundtrack!-A July 2012 TR Upd. 5/5!

Wow that is perfect timing with the rain stopping just as you guys were leaving the restaurant.

I think being on the monorail for the first time on a trip solidifies that you're really there.

I always enter MK on the right side. Left side feels so.......foreign.

Free FPs? Don't mind if I do.

I too am obsessed with that Alice in Wonderland tea set. I just haven't had the heart to buy it because we always fly and I'm afraid of it breaking! I may have to get it in July when my parents can take it home in the car. ;)

OMG, that girl standing on the other girl's back is hysterical. Good job creepin' that picture.

Awesome having a CM in full character at HM. I'm not gonna lie, I would have such a hard time with that. I'd laugh like an idiot.

Wow, more FPs? It's because you guys are so adorable I think. :goodvibes

Grrrr, line jumpers. I used to work at Six Flags (for six years), and had to contend with line jumpers all the time. But at WDW, they're always stupid and line jump into the FP line. Oh you stupid people.

Joni!! Your updates never cease to brighten my day. What an awesome night at MK!! No one has ever given me Fastpasses before. Ah well. So glad you got two sets! What awesome rides!

I really hope those people are still in the BTMRR queue. Perseverance is key.

Ahhh MM&Y! I'm sooo sad it's gone. I was OBSESSED with the summer version.

Wow! So many updates, and I loved them all. You had one long first day, it sounds perfect. We are going back in less than 2 months. I can't wait to see the new Fantasyland either.

Great report!! Good pixie dust on the fast passes for sure!! I couldnt imagine not taking them...On our recent trip I had 4 for soarin..and couldnt give them away..very strange tried 4 different families..and I had 4..finally gave them to a family of 3..
Cant wait for next update

We've got ADRs at Grand Floridian Cafe, La Hacienda de San Angel, and 50's PTC for dinner and Crystal Palace for lunch. Not a terrible selection by any means but we had some good ones ('Ohana and Kona Cafe!) that we had to drop as our party continued to grow...

As for your trip, talk about pixie dust with all those fast passes!:cool1: I'm also usually on the giving end of those transactions.

What a great way to end your day at MK! EMH and all those rides, plus the MEP, fantastic.

Those girls taking a picture with the wall/picture of Eric is priceless! I most certainly was a fan of his as a little girl (and maybe even now, it's fine). :rolleyes1

Oh my lands.... I've missed 2 post from you!!! Where have I been... Oh I know, working on my cruise birthday trip... It's in 83 more days!!! I'm so ready...

I love Love LOVE :lovestruc Beach Club.... It's my favorite resort....
Our very first "Surprise Trip" for our kids in July 2006, we stayed at Beach Club and it was the best, and now I can't seam to stay anywhere else... We have but, Beach Club is JUST MY FAVORITE...

I love that T-shirt.... I NEED that T-Shirt.... I hope they still have those T-Shirts when we go Next September... In 340 days!!! :sad1: That's a long ways off.... :scared1: I also love the Magnet... It belongs on my fridge... Your story about the couple was to funny!!!! I love people watching...

As many times as we've stayed at Beach Club/Yacht Club... We have never eaten at Cape May although if it's breakfast/lunch/dinner time there are always tons of people standing and waiting...

BUT...

On our next trip we are planning on eating there.... I went on Allears.net and they have the menus and found out that on certain nights they have certain types of seafood and for us we love shrimp so on Monday and ??? they have shrimp... YUM!!!! I can't wait. Thank you so much for all the food porn... from Cape May... :cheer2:

I hope your doing great!!! Settling in to life... and routine... Schools good? Your students are good?

Have a great week!

I'm a lefty by nature, so I always ALWAYS enter on the left! In fact the one time I was forced to enter on the right (MVMCP) it felt so odd and unnatural. We really are suckers for tradition around here, huh? Solution: you enter on the right, I enter on the left, and we meet on Main Street. ;)

"No thank you, ma'am. It was a kind gesture, but I couldn't let you sacrifice those unused fastpasses and leave a gaping hole in your Disney collage." (For next time. :thumbsup2)

AHHHH FLE!!!! Cannot wait. I'm totally with those girls! Eric and Eugene baby, aw yeah.

Fastpass jackpot! Way to be awesome!

Cut to three weeks later when my trip began and those confused souls still couldn't find their way onto Big Thunder. Legend has it they still remain there to this day, desperately searching for a way onto the ride, but to no avail...
(Sometimes I get carried away.)

BAHAHA. Thank you for thinking of me when you saw creepy Pete! I'm honored. Now tell me, was he giggling? Wait, no... don't tell me. :scared:

great updates and pics.

I agree about Cape May Buffet. We ate there last week and it was one of the bets meals of the trip.

MK day looked like it was a lot of fun.

Ohmygosh!!! Talk about pixie dust... how great that you got two sets of FPs the same night!!!!!!!!!!! :goodvibes :cloud9:

So I am pulling a you!

On Nickelodeon Full House Disney episodes are on at 8PM CST! I am so excited to watch these episodes right before our trip! i don't think I have ever seen them fully! Just had to tell you!:)

:hippie: I hope your safe with Hurricane Sandy heading up the East Coast and the Carolina's feeling it today!!!

Praying for you guys!!

Have a good week!

Whoa, that's definitely some pixie dust! All those times you gave away FPs were paying off!

Glad you didn't get stuck on splash again, though I guess it made it difficult to come up with a TR title this go-round...

Line karma. She'll get ya every time. ::yes::

I know, I couldn't believe how lucky we were getting!

HAHA yeah really, that's kind of my Disney trademark, isn't it?

That's right! No line jumping at Disney!

Omg it was awesome!

I can still taste those crab legs and the peanut butter squares now!

Yes, no Oreo bon bons there but you can get them from the BC Marketplace :)

Yay! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :) Hmm...peantu butter squares, huh? This sounsd promising!

Well, at least you can still get them there! :thumbsup2

:wizard: Yay for pixie dust!!!! :wizard:

Your evening sounds wonderful!

I am SO SO SO SO excited about the new Fantasyland! :yay: I can't wait to see it completely open!

MMY is amazing! I can't wait to see what they will do next!

It was such a great evening!

ME TOO! Ahhh! I've been reading Lia's tweets all week about it and it sounds amazing!

I know, it's so awesome! Unfortunately they got rid of it! :( I'm so sad! I hope they replace it with something equally amazing!

You have some seriously good FastPass karma! Two FPs for different rides given to you in one evening? That's awesome!

I love it when line jumpers get caught. Seriously, how hard is it to follow the rules? :confused3

I know, isn't that amazing?! I was so excited!

Me too! It's like watching a speeder getting pulled over. Satisfaction! Revenge! Muah ha ha ha!

OMG I do the same thing!!! :rotfl: Brandon always gives me this weird look when we drive in and I comment on which character we get! :sad2:

Oh yeah, absolutely have to enter MK on the right! Going in on the left just feels weird!

Yay for the FP's! Love when that happens!

I've wanted that Alice tea set since I first started seeing it, I LOVE it! Someday I'm going to buy it and ship it back home, since there's no way I could lug that on a plane with me!

OMG I cannot wait for the New Fantasyland...just the thought that there is a TINY chance that I might get to see it on my trip in 18 DAYS (but who's counting ) is too much for me to handle. I feel like if I walk into MK and they tell me "hey, New Fantasyland is open, go right in" (ok, I don't know who would be telling me that, but just assume they have people doing that!) I might cry. I'm sure I will cry. Just thinking about seeing it in person is enough to make me want to cry! :rotfl:

Yay, more FP's! Like you said, I've given them away, but I've never received them, so that must be pretty amazing! People in Disney are SO nice! Well, most of them!

Haha I'm glad I'm not the only one! The boys just don't get it! ;)

What is it about the left?! It's just not...right! HAHA!

I know, I want it so badly! I think I will definitely get it in March!

AHH I have a feeling you're going to get to see it. I am keeping my fingers crossed! By the way, I can't believe how close your trip is! I sat down the other day and read your entire PTR, I just need to comment now! I'm sorry I'm so late to that party, but I will definitely be ready for your new TR!

I know, I love how nice everyone is to each other in Disney!

Wow, you really got sprinkled with the FP Pixie Dust!

I really love the HM CM's, they may be favorite because they totally stay in character and play them so well. It's not just another queue, it's an experience.

I love that Alice in Wonderland tea set, I bought either that one or one similar to it for a friend of mine who LOVES all things tea related: it's perfect!

I laughed out loud when I read you went to the right... I totally thought I was the only one who did that. I mean, who really wants to go to the left? Disney protocol dictates that you go to the right!

As a fellow shortie, I understand the need to utilize the tall-ness of the people around you- good call on getting John to snap some pics over the wall! (Side note: have you seen all the advance pictures for New Fantasyland??? I've been trying to avoid them so I can be surprised and excited when I go next... which they are doing random "dress rehearsals" all the time now! I so may get to see it when I am there next month!)

It was so nice getting all those FPs!

You're right, the HM CMs are always in character!

That sounds like an AMAZING gift! I must have that tea set!

Haha really though. It's got to be to the right.

Ahhh I hope you get to see the new Fantasyland next month! I bet that you will! I have been trying to avoid the pictures too, but it's so hard! They're everywhere!

Woo Hoo! for all the FP pixie dust!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Sounds like y'all had a really nice night in the MK!

It was so nice! :thumbsup2

We did! It was great!

I know, we had some really good luck with missing rain on this trip. Until my poor mom got there, then it rained nonstop!

You're right...there's something about that first monorail ride. There's nothing like it!

I will never turn down free FPs!

I honestly don't know why I haven't gotten that tea set yet! We almost always drive. I will definitely get it in March!

I know, I feel like those CMs don't get enough credit! They're like really awesome actors, and they're super good at improv!

Haha aww thanks! :goodvibes If that's the case I hope lots of people find me adorable in March. I WANT MORE FPS!

Ughh I hate that! People can be such jerks.

Thank you so much Kristen! :goodvibes I am so far behind on your TR! I read some updates and caught up but I need to comment. I need to get back into it fully; I miss your writing! :goodvibes

HAHA seriously. I'm sure they probably are. They're surviving on stale popcorn.

I konw, I can't believe it's gone too. :( The summer version was amazing! I'm glad I got to see it in person before they got rid of it!

Wow! So many updates, and I loved them all. You had one long first day, it sounds perfect. We are going back in less than 2 months. I can't wait to see the new Fantasyland either.

Thank you so much! I was thrilled about the free FPs! Whaaa? Who would say no to free FPs?!

Yess! It was such a wonderful night! :goodvibes

Haha me too! There's something about that black hair. Very handsome!

Oh my lands.... I've missed 2 post from you!!! Where have I been... Oh I know, working on my cruise birthday trip... It's in 83 more days!!! I'm so ready...

That's so exciting that your birthday cruise is so soon! I know you're going to have a magical time!

I love Beach Club too! It's definitely my favorite resort of all the one's I've stayed in. I'm sure they will still have the shirt and magnet when you go! I think they tend to keep the resort merchandise around for a long time! :thumbsup2

You are going to LOVE Cape May! It is so delicious! I can't wait to hear what you think of it! And I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures! Don't worry, there's tons more food porn to come! :)

Things are going pretty good, considering! Thank you for checking in on me, that means a lot! :goodvibes School is good, we're already gearing up for the holidays! I can't believe it's almost November! That's fine by me! The faster time goes by until John gets home, the better!

Boy, that was some pixie dust you received at the Magic Kingdom! I don't think it gets much better than 2 sets of free fastpasses!

I know, I couldn't believe how lucky we were! It was great! :goodvibes

I'm a lefty by nature, so I always ALWAYS enter on the left! In fact the one time I was forced to enter on the right (MVMCP) it felt so odd and unnatural. Honestly, you are the only lefter I've met! But I love this about you. You are the yin to my yang, Disney twin. We can enter on our different sides, then meet in the middle Steve and DJ style. Minus the kissing. But I'm pretty sure I will trip and roll a little bit.

I'll keep that in mind for the next time I completely LOSE MY MIND and reject a FP.

I know, Eugene...oh my gah. I have this theory. If they made a live action Tangled, Jared Padalecki would be the PERFECT Eugene. He can do the smolder, I swear. Plus he has the hair. PLUS HE'S JUST GORGEOUS.

Haha we should totally make that legend a thing. Like, when we have kids we will tell them about the ghost line jumpers at BTMRR.

I took MORE pictures of creepy Pete later in the trip for you! :thumbsup2 I will always associate creepy Pete with you, so that's good news. And yes, he was giggling. I still have nightmares.

Awesome Pixie Dust with the bonus fastpasses!!! Can't wait for the next update!

Thanks! :) We were so excited!

Do you believe in magic
In a young girl's heart?
How the music can free her
Whenever it starts

Yes, I chose the Aly and AJ version instead of Lovin' Spoonful. I'm sorry to those who may prefer the original! I can't help it; Aly and AJ music has always made me feel cheerful.

When I left off John and I were heading to Main Street to find a spot for The Magic, The Memories, & You and Wishes! I was so excited for the summer version of MM&Y because I had heard that the castle turned into a sand castle. I mean, it doesn't get much cooler than that, right?

We found a great spot and I took a couple of test shots before the show started.....

DisneyTripSummer2012277.jpg

DisneyTripSummer2012278.jpg

......and then MM&Y started.....

DisneyTripSummer2012279.jpg

......aaaand, my camera DIED.

NOOOO. I am a spaz when I watch fireworks shows or things like MM&Y at Disney because Im trying to find the perfect balance between getting good pictures so that I may permanently preserve my memories and enjoying the here and the now and living in the moment, and a broken camera was NOT helping me find this balance.

Thankfully I have an iPhone with a decent camera, so order in my small little world was quickly restored.

So please enjoy my iPhone 4s pictures of The Magic, The Memories, & You!

It's in the process of becoming a sand castle.....

It's hard to tell in this next picture, but if you look at the middle of the castle you can see Timon, Pumbaa, and Simba walking on the log!

And then the castle turned into water, and Ariel came out!

It was truly a wonderful version of MM&Y, but I seriously almost fell out when I saw this next part:

RAPUNZEL'S LANTERNS. Oh my God you guys, I almost fainted. I was weeping and hugging John and jumping up and down and basically losing my mind. I was in Disney, I still had nine full days ahead of me, I was with my wonderful husband, and I was looking at Rapunzel's lanterns on the castle. It was pure magic.

I missed Walt's mosaic at the end of the show, but I got a picture later in the trip, don't worry!

Then it was time for Wishes!

Sorry, I know those arent the best quality pictures, but you can still get the general idea. MM&Y was gorgeous, Wishes was magical, and I was the happiest girl on the planet. It just couldnt get any better!

When the shows were over John and I were both feeling very content, but also very tired. I think the weight of our first day had finally settled over us, and we realized we were exhausted! It was only the beginning of EMH, and I hadn't had a chance to ride Pirates of the Caribbean yet, but we both agreed it was time to go. We had had an incredibly successful first day, we had a ton of time ahead of us, and we knew better than to wear ourselves out too soon. John was really thirsty, so before leaving we headed to Adventureland so he could get a drink.

Ugly cell phone picture. Sorry!

I couldn't resist one last snack, so I decided to get a pineapple Dole whip!

1857AC7A-D919-43A1-A7EB-761F745185D5-7572-00000D05E2B95A3B.jpg

Even though it was just a snack, you know I've gotta do my dining review!

Service: We waited in line for a while, and the CMs were obviously worn out, so it wasn't the best. Not a huge deal, though. I think a lot of people rush to Aloha Isle after the fireworks, so I wasn't surprised by the crowds.

Atmosphere: I ate my dole whip while following John in a mad rush toward the exit, so it really wasn't a pleasant atmosphere for enjoying my snack.

Food quality: The dole whip was delicious, but it melted super quickly and ran down my hands, thus making me a sticky mess. Ugh. Also, I realized about two bites in that my eyes had been bigger than my stomach and I really didn't want it after all.

Overall dining experience: Honestly, not the best. I realized too late that it was poor choice to get my dole whip, and I didn't have the time or space to enjoy it. I don't blame the snack, but I've got to be honest. It wasnt a good one.

Overall, my dole whip receives the following rating:

Category 3- The Django

dad.jpg

I know right?! I cant believe it either. I always love Aloha Isle so much! This just wasn't my night for it. I learned a valuable lesson, though. I realized then that I didn't have to rush and get all the food I wanted on my first day. I didn't need to overdue it! I still had nine full days in Disney!

About halfway through my dole whip I gave up and threw it away. It was such a sticky mess! I used my hand sanitizer to clean myself up as we left the park. Unfortunately we hadnt planned for the hordes of people who would be leaving MK after Wishes, so the line for the monorail was insanely long! It was moving quickly though, so we jumped in.

I noticed too late that there were tour groups EVERYWHERE. I was surrounded! It was my worst nightmare come true. We were shuffling along in this huge crowd, and everywhere I looked I saw tour groups! The worst part was, the biggest group was all wearing matching red shirts, and John was wearing a red shirt too, so he blended right in with them! Actually, that wasnt the worst part. That was pretty hilarious, in fact. I started picking on him and saying things like, "Dont you know the words to this chant? Did you miss tour group annoying chant practice?" and "Hurry! Your inflatable guide stick is leaving you!" He wasn't very happy with me.

We finally made it onto the monorail, which was naturally filled to the point of almost exploding. We hung on for dear life, trying not to awkwardly butt bump the sitting people in the face, and made it back to the parking lot after what seemed like an eternity. I couldn't help myself, I burst from the confines of the stuffy monorail like a freed bird, gulping in mouthfuls of fresh air. That was definitely not as pleasant as the monorail ride to the Magic Kingdom!

John wanted to go by the gas station on the way back to the resort, but I was exhausted so he offered to drop me off and go back out. He pulled right up front so I wouldn't have to walk across the parking lot (he's awesome) and then headed back out.

You probably thought this day would end on a calm note, right? WRONG. I have one more weird story for you before I wrap it up!

As I was walking into the Beach Club I noticed there were EMS people everywhere. Like, all over. They had one of those yellow stretched laid out, and there was a crowd of gawkers watching them. At first I couldn't see what was happening, then I saw that they were surrounding this guy who was lying on the ground right in the middle of the lobby. He was moaning like he was in a lot of pain, and one of his legs was COVERED in blood. Seriously, I have no idea what happened to that dude, but he looked like he was bleeding out. It was super freaky and gross, and I ran up the stairs before I could locate the source of the blood loss. I hope that guy and his hideous wound was okay. I asked John about it when he got back to the room about fifteen minutes later, and he said there was nothing going on in the lobby when he came through. I guess Disney cleans these things up quickly!

Anyway, I made it back to the room at 11:15. I took a relaxing bath, updated my trip journal, and was in the bed asleep by 12:00. Whew, that was a long first day, wasnt it?!

Im going to take a page out of some of my favorite TR writers books and do a little wrap up of the day! I hope you don't mind! I think this is a great way to sum up each of our super long Disney days!

Great Update!!!! I love the pictures on the castle... It's such a fabulous show!!!

I wondered if you clicked on my link in my sig and read my spring break trip report... We had fun, it's was my neice, my daughter and I... Lots of funny and crazy things happened to us on that trip.

I've never told you but my husband lives about 4 hours and 30 minutes from me and I rarely see him. (This would be another reason I'm so excited for my Birthday Cruise) He works 30 days on and about 5 days off... :scared1: and if I drive down to see him, it would be for a brief 3 or 4 hours cuz he usually needs to sleep. They work about 15 hour days. :scared1::scared1::scared1: But unlike your wonderful husband, mine is not out protecting the lives of us Americans... :thumbsup2 He works in the Oil Industry and that business out here in Texas is hopping... :thumbsup2 Which I am very greatful for. I also have 3 babies... ok they are not babies... They are DS25, DS22, and DD18... 2 of them are off to college the DS22 and DD18 here in our hometown...:banana::banana: Close to Mama and the DS25 is a golf pro at a Country Club about 3 hours away.

So like you I miss my sweet hubby all the time and look forward to him coming home. He loves Disney more then me.

I love the song title... DD was home when I read your trip report. Laundry day..:lmao: So I played the song for her and she remembered it. She loved Aly and AJ....

Have a super week. Glad your safe, except for the wind.

Ah, the Disney bubble... Is there anywhere better to be? I think not! What a great first day! I really wish I had seen the summer version of MM&Y... Sandcastles, Ariel, rapunzel's lanterns! I may be biased, but Disney is perfect!:woohoo:

And ew, bloody dude! I wonder what that was all about...

Haha, at John matching the red shirted tour groups! :lmao:

Mm, dole whip! I hope you were able to get another one before the end of your trip!:rolleyes1

I have gotten WAY too behind on this trip report. WHY DOES SCHOOL HAVE TO BE REAL?!

Ahh I want to go back to Cape May for dinner on my New Year's trip. Since we are staying at the Yacht Club.. we might as well. I have a breakfast booked already so I might as well just add a dinner!

Hey if you bring cash in March... maybe we can work out a deal for that Alice in Wonderland tea set when I have my cast member discount. ;) It'll probably be 20% off.
