Superbowl talk

Well I hope he didn't say this. I really respected how he played the game and he definitely deserved to be the MVP. I could understand this being said as a joke and have no respect for the reporter if she reported an off screen comment that was never meant to be reported.

My guess is that it was probably posted on The Onion or another satirical website as a joke -- people then started repeating it, since it must be true if it's on the internet -- and now it's become a "thing" out there on the interwebs.

Nothing being said in that link justifies Cam Newton walking out of the press conference. When a player spends the entire season taunting and getting in the face of other teams and their fans he should be able to take anything dished out.

Both teams had plenty of excessive taunting and celebrating during the game -- so much so I told DH that if I were a coach that would be top or near the top of my list of no nos for my players. Anybody who played on my team would figure out real quick acting like that during a game would bring unpleasant consequences. I cannot stand to watch that kind of attitude, especially from professionals in the biggest contest. Show some class.

The producers probably realized after rehearsals how lame the halftime show would be, so they rushed to include those clips of past performances. They're the only things that saved it from being a total disaster. They SHOULD have included Nipplegate to show how ridiculous the outrage over that incident really was.

Disagree with regard to that stunt. Completely inappropriate venue.

I don't think it was bad behavior. He was being honest or trying to be funny. It isn't illegal to enjoy a strip club. It is an adult activity that some enjoy and others do not, really not that differnt than drinking and Manning said he'd be having a lot of Bud ( wonder if he'll have another commercial deal soon lol ). I don't get the appeal of a strip club for men or women, but I like to drink something that a lot of people also don't get the appeal of.
He said "eff Disney". But not eff...but the actual word. That's not good behavior.

Just read all the other posts on here. Also noticed some of the links that I saw this morning, regarding this, have dropped off google search. Maybe it is fake. I hope so.

I highly doubt Von Miller said anything like that. I don't even think the supposed reporter was able to interview him after the game.

How much you wanna bet that Disneyland is going to be packed today because of the parade that Peyton is going to be in? Wish I could be there!

good to know~ because it was kinda sad to see if it isn't his usual persona, lol

Plus, unfortunately as a Giants fan, they showed us several instances this year of "it ain't over til'..." and he was probably keeping that in mind.

There was an interview with Olivia stating that they were all doing all superstitious things in the box, lucky chairs, not moving a muscle etc, so possibly CBS caught that moment.

The camera freezes at the wrong time and anything can look bad. There was an instance when Peyton was still in Indianapolis, another failed AFC game in Foxboro, sitting on the bench, head down after a play (an interception probably) that sealed the Pats trip to the Super Bowl. The whole story was about how Peyton was moping on the sideline after his mistake. They later showed the wider shot that he was staring at the printouts of the broken play sitting in his lap. Was he a happy camper, no, but not the melodramatic moping that it was being made out to be (and to be technical still working despite it not mattering anymore).

The Browns can't officially release him until March 9th (or the 8th, I forget).

That doesn't sound right at all. Riley Cooper got released today by the Eagles.

Edit: Oh, wait. This is because of the cap hit. They have to release him March 9th for financial reasons. They could do it today if they wanted to.

No, according to this article, they can't release him right now because they don't have the cap space available to do so (I don't have the foggiest idea how all that works??)

Have not read all responses, but here's my take:

PRE-GAME - I usually don't watch these, but I have to admit, I was really glad I did this time. The tribute to the prior MVPs was so well done - so many memories, since I am old enough to remember most of their games. Great to see Bart Starr, even if it was from his home. And was it really 40 years ago that Lynn Swann played in the Super Bowl? Wow. The booing for the Patriots was sad and pathetic.

NATIONAL ANTHEM - Lady Gaga did a great job. I hate the versions where there is so much scatting that you can't even recognize the song (I'm looking at you, Christina Aguilera), and I think Gaga did just the right amount of embellishments. Say what you will about her appearance, her character, her schtick, but the girl can SING.

GAME - The Denver defense was amazing. I think they eat quarterbacks for breakfast. First Tom Brady, now Cam Newton - seems like no one can stop Von Miller and Demarcus Ware. Newton had that deer-in-the-headlights look, and the dabbing was conspicuously absent. Both offenses struggled mightily, but in the end, Carolina just made more mistakes (dropped passes, not covering punt returns) the Denver offense was just better enough to pull off the win. Newton seemed to give up at the end - he didn't even try to recover his strip/fumble. So glad for Peyton - I admit, I was rooting for him all along. A bit bittersweet too - I couldn't help but think that had this been the Peyton of 5 or 10 years ago, we would have seen a much different game. But this win, even with one of his poorest performances, was still one for the ages.

HALFTIME - I watched this on You Tube, as I was making pizza during the live performances. Not a fan of Coldplay, Beyoncé, or Bruno, but again, I got a bit misty with the montage of past performers, especially the ones who are gone (Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Clarence Clemmons - Bruce Springsteen's sax player).

COMMERCIALS - Again, not impressed. The "puppy-monkey-baby" was just creepy, and I will never, EVER buy that Mountain Dew drink. I did smile at the Steven Tyler - Skittles commercial, as well as the Doritos - ultrasound one. The movie trailers were good - excited about all the upcoming super-hero movies - Batman v. Superman, Avengers, Deadpool. The Amy Schumer - Seth Rogan commercial could have been better. The Willem Dafoe/Marilyn Monroe Snickers was just creepy. I didn't like the Prius commercial because it felt they were glorifying bank robbery. I wanted to see more of the Clydesdales in the Budweiser commercials. At least there was no more Go Daddy porn.

This is how you handle a loss. Norman shows great sportsmanship, and class.

http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...-playing-two-teams/ar-BBperYb?ocid=spartandhp

Josh Norman, one of the players who best epitomized his team’s edge and bravado all season, was the final Carolina Panthers player to slowly make his way into the interview room late Sunday night.

Norman struck a somber, humbled tone after the Panthers’ 24-10 loss to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium. With his head bowed at times, Norman uncharacteristically struggled to find words to describe his emotion that had poured out while he sat on the sideline less than an hour earlier as celebratory confetti fell.

CBS cameras had captured Norman, with his head in his hands, crying.
I’m having a hard time sitting here,” Norman said after most of the reporters had already trickled out of the interview room. “I’m going to be straight up honest. I didn’t even want to talk to you guys.”

The passion Norman exuded all season, emotion that some felt bordered on excessive, was on full display as he cried on the field and also made the classy gesture in congratulating Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning after the game.

As an Indianapolis Colts fan growing up, Norman always looked at Manning with great respect and eagerly anticipated playing him in what Norman called the biggest Super Bowl of all.

After the Broncos won Manning’s second Super Bowl title, Norman said he told the quarterback on the field, “You’re one of the G.O.A.T.s,” meaning the greatest of all time.

“He will go down as one of the best," Norman said of Manning. "Just happy to be in the same game. We were trying to spoil it so bad. Much respect for him. He got the biggest one of all.”

The outspoken Norman had made a habit this season of calling out elite receivers and shutting many of them down. The all-pro was a key component on a defense that prided itself on what their defensive backs termed “Thieves Ave.,” the ability to create takeaways.

Norman on Sunday night repeatedly referred to the difficulty of playing “two teams,” an apparent reference to the Panthers defense playing well enough to win but Denver’s defense being able to rattle and smother Carolina’s offense throughout.

“The defense played spectacular,” Norman said. “The offense played good enough. … It’s just hard playing two teams. It really is, gosh.”

Norman spoke slowly, occasionally lowering or shaking his head. He became one of the faces of this NFL season. He was polarizing at times with a mouth that roared.

The defeat on the sport’s largest stage left him in tears on the field and, for the moment, humbled.

“This is going to be with me for awhile,” Norman said after most of the reporters had already trickled out of the interview room. “It hurts … Gut-wrenching and hard to swallow. I know I’ll be back in this game

And if he did I find it no more of a big deal than when the players and coaches say it when a play goes bad. Sometimes you can read it on their lips clear as day and once in awhile the player mic picks it up. It seems more rumor than anything so I guess a moot point, but either way it really shouldn't be a blip on the radar.

Honestly, if Miller said "Eff Disney", I would not be offended. He's an adult, and he can say that if he wants to. And I bet he didn't say it, or it was said as a joke to someone. You know, a lot of people don't like Disney. And they're allowed to not like it.

I just have a feeling that some here are offended because it was Disney. If he'd said he didn't want to go to the beach, most people would have just moved on. Or if they didn't like the language, they'd just shake their heads and move on.

I liked the Heinz commercial with the wiener dogs... but I wish the dogs had run beneath the bottles and had catsup or mustard squirted on them. I know, juvenile and unnecessary, but it would have been FUNNY and MEMORABLE... which the majority of the commercials were NOT. That dog/monkey/baby thing was an abomination! I liked the Super Bowl babies, but thought it odd that the NFL would want to link itself to "adult fun" in that way.

My favorite commercial? One of the local ones, for the University where DH works. He was on the ad!! Now I can say, "MY husband was on a super bowl commercial!!"

Eli wasn't very classy when the Broncos scored the two-point conversion. http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/...oncos-carolina-panthers-peyton-manning-020716

I thought there was too much hype about Peyton and not enough recognition for Von Miller and the defense.

Didn't like Lady Gag Gag's (spelling intentional) red eye shadow and blue fingernails, but at least she was dressed conservatively and sang well.

Cam Newton lost a lot of fans when he walked out of his post-game interview.

Archie Manning says Peyton is through with Denver (or they're through with him.) Mommy wants Peyton to retire.

Wasn't Von Miller the MVP

After the year that ELI had with losing about 4 games after taking a lead into the fourth quarter, I don't think he would want to celebrate early either

Gaga did very well, right behind Whitney Huston
