Star Wars Land?

Here is a photo of Tattoine...

Here is an inhabitant of Tattoine...

~Sorry, fabulous people of Star Wars -- but ewww, I do not like this. This may sound outlandish but is there a cute planet that incorporates basic elements such as color, plants, foliage, breathtaking landscapes, water! If Disney were to adopt this Tattoine concept for Star Wars land, I think it would be better fit for Epcot's Future World. Otherwise, I can envision Disney having to create or recreate a new world in the upcoming films specifically for Star Wars land and just keep the familiar characters and icons. :goodvibes

Yes. This.

Wouldn't a M&G be *fun* with some of these?

The reason Star Tours 2.0 rarely has lines has nothing to do with popularity. It's the highest capacity attraction at DHS and plows through people at a rate that keeps the wait times low.

I'm not sure how much time you spent searching images of Star Wars but there is a lot more than just Sand People and the Twin Suns.

Who wouldn't want a Wookie as a side kick?

You've got Ewoks

~OMG, those ewok bear things are so adorable! Okay, color me impressed! :yay: I'm not too familiar with Star Wars so I struggled to conceptualize a Star Wars "land." Thank you so much, for the posting this -- the pictures are just fabulous! I love it! Twin Dad -- you have really outdone yourself with this post! :worship: I just can't narrow it down to just one planet & can see why people feel Star Wars deserves an entire theme park! Anyway, I am very excited and hoping for a Star Wars land announcement soon!

I'm fine as long as they add a Mos Eisley Cantina. :thumbsup2

I love Star Wars and really want more Star Wars here at Disney World:thumbsup2

I personally love the twin suns of Tatooine.

No problem. There are more Star Wars worlds than just Tatooine. The reason the fans talk about it so much is because it is pictured in all but one movie. Lucas actually tried to do three different environments in all of his movies. You have the desserts of Tatooine, the jungles of Yavin, the frozen wasteland of Hoth, the swamps of Dagobaugh, the clouds of Bespin, the forests of Endor, the cityscape of Coruscant, the plains of Naboo, and the volcanoes of Mustafar. There is plenty of visual material in the saga to draw from. You also have the ingenious aliens and villains you could do for characters. Although I would be hesitant about taking youngsters to meet Darth Maul and Darth Vader.

im certainly in favor of expansion of star wars in DHS

the perfect set up for me would be to bring cars land over to back lot and take out indi show to add more star wars

I think I would be more in favor of adding a couple things and naming the area LucasFilms Studios. Add the Indy Jones ride, make the Backlot Express the Mos Eisley Cantina, expand the Jedi Training Academy, and adding another attraction/ride for Star Wars. Then adding to Pixar Place with Monsters Inc attraction; convert Honey I Shrunk the Kids to Bugs Life or completely overhaul it with a Brave M/G play area; a modified Radiator Springs Racers (incorporate not only RS but also from Cars2 Japan cityscene or Rainbow Bridge, the Casino Bridge from Italy in Cars2, and parts of London-Big Bentley) where LMA/Backlot Tour is, move Pizza Planet over in that area (Studios Catering?) and switch the current Pizza Planet to a Muppets themed counter service. Possibly add in a Muppets dark ride and that area can be Muppets Studios. That way, on that side/back of the park you'd have LucasFilms, Muppets Studios, and Pixar Place, all with a few things to do at each place.

Of course, real life and budgets get in the way of the best laid plans.

correct me if I'm wrong (and knowing this bunch you certainly will), but i dont think star wars has very many ride oppertunitys. i have thought about this alot, and ive seen all the movies, but i am really not totally sold on the concept... sure they could make mos eisley cantina, and yes they could probobly come up with an e ticket attraction... but the realm of star wars is so grand... i dont think that disney would do it justice, also keep in mind the different "lands" of star wars, are intergalactic.... how do you pull different planets off within one land without it seeming.. well seeming like you just at a star wars theme park. idk... i dont think its disneys forte.

Just a couple quick off the top of my head, without really thinking much -

Pod Racers (coaster style maybe)
Tie Fighters (Buzz Lightyear style ride)
Dark Ride (through the different iconic scenes of the movies)

Disney is pretty good at making you feel you are in a different place/time, in my opinion. The theming they've done in Africa, in Asia, in the different World Showcase pavillions... I think that is exactly Disney's forte.

That's a great start. Here's a couple I'd like to add to the list:
A Dumbo style ride using X-Wings
Turn Jabba's Palace into a theater showing an exclusive 20 minute short.
Hold the Jedi Academy in a scaled down version of the Jedi Temple
Dax's Dinner for counter service
Theed Palace for table service with character dinning.

I always thought Disney Quest could make a great place to convert/add some Star Wars themed stuff to Disney World

The light saber / super hero thing always had me thinking it was a rip off of Star Wars

Then that Alien attack thing, I always played Han Solo and my brother always played Luke Skywalker in that thing !

Then convert Aladdin VR carpet ride into a "speeder" ride on Endor blasting away at things and such

Don't forget Avatar! :rotfl2:

Sorry. I couldn't help myself.
:stir:
~Ouch, I consider this to be a Declaration of War. :cool2:

~OMG, these names! It's like a foreign language -- Rosetta Stone needs to make a Star Wars Edition.

~Anyway, Disney should add you to the payroll ASAP! Your ideas & concepts for Star Wars land are fabulous. Seriously.

You might be right, which is why I think a 'Star Wars Land' instead of an actual whole park could work. When you enter a building, they can do a lot more with atmosphere than they could outside. I mean, dont get me wrong, I think Disney can pull it off (I mean if you think star wars is hard, think about Avatar). I have learned not to doubt what Disney can do, but I think it will be much easier to do just a land. The outdoor que of 'Star Tours' is a great example of how they could decorate some of the area. I think it could be done

Thanks for the compliments. I'd love to be a consultant.

The names may sound like a foreign language because they are. Tatooine and Naboo are named after cities in Tunisia, where Episode IV was filmed. Coruscant is Latin for glimmering. Darth Vader means "Dark Father" in Dutch. Endor is a village mentioned in the Hebrew Bible.

If I could be put at the Battle of Hoth or ride a speeder with Luke and Leia on Endor...I would die of happiness!! I totally think that WDW needs to run with the Star Wars theme before the next series kicks off in full swing.

Disney desperately needs something more to suck the boys in. My 7yo son will bear with princess things right now, but I'm sure one day he's going to deem them too girlie and expect more for him. Carsland would be nice because I absolutely loved it when I went to DL last year, but I think they need to do Star Wars. And not just a themed restaurant. Give me a ride or two!!

There are many opportunities with Star Wars. No, it won't appeal to EVERYONE, but really, what does? Wish I could take the survey!!

Due to the May the Fourth Be With You celebration, does anyone think that this could be the day Disney announces Star Wars Land? It would fall in line with the rumor about an expansion at HS.

They've had about 25 May 4ths to announce something like this...
My guess is that they pass this year too...to "maintain consistency"

~I would love to see something new at DHS, it's desperately needed. With that said, I have some concerns about Star Wars, because Star Tours is hardly popular, it's always been walk on, even after the recent refurb. Why is that? I really enjoy the ride, and I have read nothing but great reviews from others. I really hope Star Wars is not overrated. I also wonder if Star Wars land will be aesthetically pleasing for the average theme park guest. I think Carsland is beautiful, especially at night. Avatarland will look fabulous, day or night, with its lush landscaping and glorious mountains. I'm super excited about Avatarland, I just can't wait for that! And, I'm equally excited about something new for DHS, maybe a combination of Pixarland & Star Wars will be best. We'll see.

I am actually not that excited about Star Wars land. I would much rather see Carsland come to DHS. Avatarland could be breathtaking if they do it well with lots of glow in the dark plants and specialty lighting mixed in with lush landscaping...but Avatarland fits in better at Ak due to is ecology/enviro theme. (And AK needs an evening draw.)
