So how will you be welcoming summertime this weekend?

DH and ds are going to the Indy 500--leave Friday am and come back Tuesday.

So . . . I plan to sleep late, eat when and what I want, read, sit by the neighborhood pool, nap, water my flowers, etc. Can't wait!

Then on Wednesday, I am going to the lake til Sunday with my 2 BFFs! More sun, pool, shop, etc.:cool1::cool1::cool1:

I'm going to Disney World! :smickey:

I don't think I can top that. The pool will be open. I will plant my flowers, my tomato plants, basil, mint (for mojitos), rosemary and cilantro. Sounds absolutely boring compared to your weekend. On Friday however, we have a graduation party to go to. That will be fun!

As much as I love my family....OMG, that is my favorite type of weekend, right there. Enjoy!

Yea but the payoff will be in the mojitos!

So you have a booze garden, huh?

We are new-ish to the great state of CA (July '08) and we try to spend every weekend exploring CA. :yay:

We get to DISNEYLAND weekly. :mickeyjum

This weekend we are heading to San Juan Capistrano to the Mission one day. Then possibly north to L.A. to Hollywood and we also want to check out Unversial Studios in Universal City. We are hoping to get to the San Diego Zoo but that is for later in June. :goodvibes

There is just soooooo much to do in this state.

If we do not want to travel somewhere it is off to the beach....Newport Beach, Balboa Island, Laguna Beach or Huntington Beach. :beach:

And the BEST part is the weather is ALWAYS wonderful!!!! :sunny:

You could be on vacation every day and never run out of things to do. I have taken 3 vacations to California over the years and there is so much I haven't seen despite "frenetic" trips each time. We had such a good time that we could return and do it all again.

I will probably spend most of it inside the house. Possibly doing some much needed cleaning. There is one cabinet filled with little nick nacks and other small antiques where everything is covered in dust. I seriously need to tackle that thing. I just don't see my dad gettin ghis butt out of his chair and helping. :sad2:

It will take me hours just to do that one cabinet. Then I really need to get my dad out of the house for a few hours so I can mop the kitchen floor. Ugh!

We will be going to a cook out Sunday night, taking in a movie, going to Arlington Cemetary, escorting WWII veterans around some monuments and exploring D.C. and hopefully time to buy new furniture.

Not to derail the thread but I hope everyone takes a moment to remember why we do have Memorial Day. It's not just summer activities and shopping sales and a day off. (getting off my soapbox now) Everyone have a nice holiday weekend.

We live at the Jersey Shore so we're staying home and avoiding the Bennys that will most likely be down this weekend! We'll be doing yard work and opening our pool up this Friday and Saturday and then having a bbq on Sunday! Can't wait!!:cool1:

Well since the majority of my family is going out of town this weekend camping and 4 wheeling (both are NOT my thing), I will staying at home and the rest of us are going to have a cook out and just hang out. We are also going to get organized for the yard sale next weekend.

Oh Dawn, you are absolutely right!! We love it here. We still have all of NORTH COUNTRY to explore...not to mention all the bigger cities. My DS' are campers/hikers....they are headed to the SEQUOIA's and then onto YOSEMITE!!! :yay:

DH has tickets to a local minorleague ball game on Sunday and he's taking DS. I'm not going because I don't really like baseball and I'd be bored to tears.
I'm going to take the opportunity with DS gone to finish knitting a hat I've been working on all week that I've frogged twice before getting it sort of right.

realixing with the family, just an extra day to do it.

also some of this:

We are going to go to the pool and blow our diets. :dance3:

I spent $117 at the grocery store today. I NEVER buy that much at once, I was like..wow. This is going to be some cookout!!!

Normally DD and her family would be up here to "kick off the summer", but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.. At least 2 out of the 3 of them have the flu ("regular" flu) and due to my health issues, the doctor told them they can't be around me for at least 7 days after the last person is sick..

However, some of my neighbors will be up and as long as they aren't sick, I'll spend some time with them.. (The widower of my dear friend will be up here - the first time since she passed in Nov. - and I know it's going to be really hard on him, so I'll try to spend a some time over there at the campfire and what not..)

Right now our weather forecast isn't the "best".. Almost 90 degrees tomorrow, then drops for Friday, thunderstorms on Saturday, much cooler with a mix of sun and clouds for Sunday and Monday.. Of course that can still change, so we'll play it by ear..:goodvibes

It's going to seem sooooo strange not having my DD, her DH, and my DGD here.. But - we gotta do what we gotta do.. As long as they get over this flu quickly, that's all that really counts..:thumbsup2

Hope everyone has good weather and a great time this weekend! Blink your eyes and the 4th of July will be here!!!!!!!

We three, my parents, my DBrother and DSister and their respective families are having a BBQ at mom and dad's house :D I'm doing the chicken and the macaroni salad, mom's doing her (WORLD famous) potato salad, DBrother's bringing burgers and dawgs, and we're all just gonna snarf bad food and (weather permitting) run through the sprinklers! :thumbsup2

Sitting through long boring ceremonies, packing, moving, unpacking, packing, and a little celebrating.
Friday is honors convocation and the graduation ceremony for my department.
Saturday I graduate with my Bachelor's, move the remaining stuff out of my on-campus apartment, back to mom's for the summer (grad school in the fall), and there's a big family dinner celebration planned
Sunday there will probably be some recovery, and I'll run around like crazy picking up last minute stuff, unpacking, and repacking.
Monday I'm working for a few hours at my summer retail job, and finishing errands and packing.
Tuesday morning I leave for Disney World:cool1:

I hear ya!:cool1: We've been in AZ since August '08, and I STILL can't get over how much sunshine there is out here. I tell everyone that I can corner long enough, about how much I love the sunshine! My husband said I sound like a reformed sinner that has discovered Jesus and wants to spread the word. Only with me, it's the sun.:rotfl:

We're about a 7 hour drive from LA and San Diego. We're heading over to Hollywood on Monday to spend a few days. Our daughter is dancing in an LA Choreographer's Ball, and we're going to spend a day at Universal Studios. Last year we spent a week in California, driving from San Francisco to San Diego. Loved the San Diego Zoo and Huntington Beach! When you get the chance to explore the northern part of the state, check out the Hearst Castle. Very fun and interesting tour!

I know what you mean about getting out and exploring. We spent a weekend a few weeks ago at the Grand Canyon. We thought it was just the neatest thing to do, because we're only about five hours away, as opposed to trying to plan a trip from the east coast to the Grand Canyon.

Have you been back to New England at all since you moved? We've been back once (last October) and will be spending most of the summer out there.

No idea. I'm working on Monday. Possibly Mohegan Sun (ooh, I just pulled that out of thin air and I like it-Thanks, DIS).

Love Mohegan Sun!! If you go, have fun and win big!!:)

Soccer tournament with DS. The best thing about this tourney is that it's only 15 minutes away, so if there are hours between games, we can run home.

Monday we'll likely go to one of the local ceremonies to honor the day.
