So how will you be welcoming summertime this weekend?

I am SO excited for the start of summer! June, July, August feel like 3 months of Christmas for me...love it!

So what are your plans for the weekend? Looks like we might finally be dry, so I'm excited to really get out there and do some stuff.

In between opening our pool :-)banana:), we'll be visiting Dorney Park on Friday, seeing a double feature at the drive-in on Saturday, and doing some local canoeing on Sunday.

didn't get my morning ration of coffee, so I am going to admit I'm confused. Doesn't summer start NEXT month? (June 21st or something like that?) Heck, we were in the 30s & 40s at night this week, so our furnace isn't even off yet!

Nothing, really. It's been hot here for quite a while......so this is just a "three day weekend" to me!

I have a couple of potted flowers (zinnias) to re-pot on my deck, going shopping on Saturday (doggie stuff) and will take myself out to eat!

My daughter is on her way to Phoenix for a Taylor Swift concert.

Memorial Day weekend is the "unofficial" start to summer......and Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer!

Weather permitting, a ton of yard work. It's the first Memorial Day Weekend in over eight years plus where we won't be playing soccer, AAU basketball or HS track and field.

Officially, Summer doesnt start until June 21 - so I am enjoying Spring for another month!! Summer is too long as it is!

We're going up to our place in Door County! For food, one night we are having our annual "chili dump", and one night we'll have the traditional hamburgers and brats with potato salad, beans, watermelon, and whatever else everyone brings! :)
We'll probably end up going to a craft show somewhere too, but not by my choice. :confused3 We'll listen to the Brewers games and play some Scrabble and possibly consume a pitcher or two of Margarita's too! :woohoo:

Big V, sounds like a great time....relaxing! Although an event with "chili" and "dump" in the same title makes me a little uneasy.

As far as summer not starting til the 20th...yea I did pay some attention in high school science class. But much of the summer fun begins with Memorial Day such as regular amusement park hours, higher beach hotel rates, and permission to wear white shoes :lmao:

First official weekend at the Jersey shore. Lots of yard work, powerwashing, picking up beach badges, and having a BBQ, oh and some beer too! Our town has a really cute bike parade for the kids where they decorate their bikes all in red white and blue. The fire trucks take them through the neighborhood and they end up at the beach for hot dogs. Its like stepping into the past! We love sitting in front of the house and watching the families go by.

Ohhh, derrrr...forgot it's Memorial Day weekend coming up. Kids are still in school for several more weeks, so I guess I don't think about beach hotels or amusement parks this early. To us, Memorial Day weekend just adds a cook-out and parade day to our basic, average weekend.

:laughing:Summer starts around here as soon as the kids finish school, May 22.

DS14 is going away for the weekend, so the rest of us are going to do things we don't usually get to do. Like go to the movies, eat at a sit down restaurant(not a buffet), and stay out late doing fun stuff. The pool opens this weekend, so we'll go down there and have a cookout.

We are new-ish to the great state of CA (July '08) and we try to spend every weekend exploring CA. :yay:

We get to DISNEYLAND weekly. :mickeyjum

This weekend we are heading to San Juan Capistrano to the Mission one day. Then possibly north to L.A. to Hollywood and we also want to check out Unversial Studios in Universal City. We are hoping to get to the San Diego Zoo but that is for later in June. :goodvibes

There is just soooooo much to do in this state.

If we do not want to travel somewhere it is off to the beach....Newport Beach, Balboa Island, Laguna Beach or Huntington Beach. :beach:

And the BEST part is the weather is ALWAYS wonderful!!!! :sunny:

My family is celebrating my niece's birthday this weekend with a family get-together & a pool party. Her real birthday is December 27th, so it gets lost in the holiday shuffle. So she celebrates her real birthday with her mom, dad & sister & sometimes me & grandpa (because we live close by) & her friends. Then her aunt, her aunt & uncle & 3 cousins come to NY on Memorial Day weekend for some fun. We'll also do a BBQ on Sunday, and this year, we're adding a trip to Citi Field (new home of the NY Mets) on Monday to the fun.

No idea. I'm working on Monday. Possibly Mohegan Sun (ooh, I just pulled that out of thin air and I like it-Thanks, DIS).

We have a little place in Sumpter Oregon and this weekend is the first flea market of the season. It's fun walking around this little town checking out all the things people make and sell.

Sumpter is a 1860s gold town that now has a population of 271 people. Three times a year they hold these flea markets and thousands of people rush the small town and turn it in to one big party. Some of the best food you will ever eat can be found there.

After a day of that we're going to ride our 4-wheelers along the Powder River and find a quiet little spot to do some fly fishing. Weather should be high 70s and clear. Can't wait :cool2:

I will be celebrating the fact that for the first time in 5 years, I actually get Memorial Day off as a paid holiday.
