We had breakfast in Mara this morning cost $28. John and I had a cooked meal, scramble eggs, sausage, bacon, the kids had cereal and muffins. Very hot and sunny again, the plan was Winter/Summerland golf, Ashley had wanted to do this last trip but we never got around to it.
Here's a few photos including John and Ashley claiming the highest score of the day, one on each course.
We had an ice cream while waiting for certificates to be printed out with their names and scores on. We were given a load of golf balls and some marker pens (John was pleased, he plays a lot of golf and they will come in handy).
Caught the bus back to AKL pool for an hour before getting cleaned up to catch a taxi to Seaworld ($31 including tip). Arrived about 4.30, sorted out the tickets for free 2nd visit, went and checked in for Dine with Shamu and made our way to Manta - 80 minute wait. Had a look at the dolphins feeding area and some of the other animals before making our way over to Dine with Shamu.
Have read other reports about feeling rushed at this meal, while we didn't feel rushed, wasn't keen on the server leaving us a plate 'to leave the tip on' were his words! Over the loud speaker we were asked to leave as the restaurant was closing. We could see the theatre filling up for Shamu Rock at 8pm so we were going to leave soon anyway, the plan for coming in the evening was to see this. We had had a brief rain shower while eating so had to be careful heading over to the theatre with the ground being wet. Even after all that food and drink we still bought an ice lolly as it was so hot and we were feeling thirsty. It was great fun waiting for the show to begin, the camera was focusing on members of the audience and some of them really played up to the camera, it was really funny.
After the show went to have a look at Manta again, still 80 minutes. We left if for another day and went on Journey to Atlantis and got soaked, which was lovely and cooling although didn't know what the taxi driver would say to taking 4 dripping passengers home! Walked over to Bayside stadium to see the firework show and then home. The roads were really, really busy people seemed to be heading to DTD but we'd had enough and ready to call it a day.
