Planning a resort day at AKL for our October trip and have a couple questions for you all. :goodvibes

We plan to spend one day just enjoying the resort. We have never done this on any of our visits. I know some of the Jambo group did the Wine Tasting Wednesday at the last DIS meet in October. :)

What is it like, did you enjoy it? I know it is a selection of South Africa wines and it is referred to as a journey. This really interests us, however I need my J & K buds to help me make a decision.

Second is a Dine with Animal Specialists at Sanaa. Has anyone done this? We loved the food, service, view and CM's at Sanaa on our last trip. So we are considering this experience for October trip. I couldn't find anything on it at the Disney site. I heard about this in a e-mail from Don in IPO with things that are new since our last visit. He is so wonderful!

I called them up after I posted about that and was able to get my member number. I've been browsing around on the site, but it seems that the information that I want, you can't get until you are booked on the cruise.

What information do you need. I am happy to try and find it for you.

I hope that the weather man is wrong and the snow does not materialize. Keep safe.

We got the recitals in and then we got the snow. It was big fluffy wet flakes and it is still hanging around on the trees and grass this morning. It was 60 here on Saturday and is supposed to get back up into the upper 50s to upper 60s over the next couple of days, so I don't think it will be around very long at all! :yay:

DH & I were at Jambo House last Monday - Friday. This will be a very short post because I'm on my tiny iPhone keyboard. At 9:30 am buses were mostly standing room only but younger men always stood to offer us seats. It's so great when fellow travelers spread some pixie dust. We spread a little a few times in the parks by handing out band aides and offering a space on the curb to a first time visitor child for the MSEP. Saw that same family next day at Mara; it is a small world after all - cue music.

After our on board credit for this past cruise, it cost $21 when we got off the ship.

That is all we spent.

But, BUT, we did not do any excursions, we were just relaxing and recovering...

I have never stepped off a ship with only spending $21 out of pocket..

Only $21 that is impressive! But what better place to relax and recover than where they make all your meals and clean up your room. I'm glad you were able to do that.

You get the OBC on the future cruise. That way if you decided to cancel the cruise, the cruise line does not end up being out of pocket.

If everything goes according to plan, the Alaska cruise will be our first cruise as Platinum Castaways. However, as this is the second half of a back to back cruise, we won't get the full benefits then. I will still only be able to make my reservations with the Gold members and I won't get the perk of checking in with the concierge guests. I will however get the higher OBC, the free Palo dinner and the special tour. I am not sure what they will be offering as the special tour. I know that on the East Coast cruises, they were offering in tour of the animal programme at Castaway Cay. Corinna

Hopefully they'll still provide you with the platinum gift. I think you get a different stateroom gift when you're platinum also? This year of planning has caused me to become obsessed. I haven't even gone on the first one and want to be platinum so I can go on the tours.... I think it's a sickness. I hope they do something really fun for you. The animal program tour sounds great.

Good Morning J's & K's! Happy Presidents Day!

We're already on the list for March...but we have added 2 nights at BLT (3/18 & 3/19).

With the airfare on Monday being MUCH cheaper, and being able to use our points for the hotel,
we thought we would relax from the week of chasing the Grandkids around and do The Luau and The Hoop-De-Doo just the 2 of us.

I made up a detailed schedule for all of us last Monday, then the next day Disney extended a lot of hours and added parades and shows.
Are they still likely to keep changing or am I safe to fix it now?

I've never done those things, but we did do the free stuff  Culinary Tour, Evening Cultural Exchange, evening night scope viewing, Going over to Kidani and hanging out on their Savanna Viewing deck behind the lobby. I think you get a better view of Sunset Savana, and if you time it right for feeding time, it's pretty funny watching the animals chase the food truck around.

In Jan we stayed at WL, and for our resort day we went over to FW to do the Segway tour in the AM, then came back and went over to the Villas Train room where they had n hour with a Steam Train CM who did an interesting presentation in The Carolwood Room. We really lucked out, apparently they only have him once a month. Then we relaxed by the pool the rest of the day.

Hi again everyone! A quick update from my saga earlier in the thread. Nana and Papa who have decided to join us on our trip could not rent a studio at this late date at AKL.
They booked at CSR yesterday. It's not too too far from what I understand. They will have a car, so I am hoping they will meet us at AKL in the mornings and we can all go to the parks together. Seems easier than meeting at a park and trying to find one another. We're Canadian so we won't have cell phones with us.

I am still super excited about our AKL stay!:yay:
We've booked a dinner for all of us at Boma. And my husband and I LOVED Jiko on our last trip. So I think we will have a date night while the inlaws have fun with our kids. Jiko was probably the best meal I have had at Disney to date.
I am rebooking all of our dinner reservations to include 6. You know what? I am not finding it difficult at all!! I think the new policy for credit card holds for popular places, and the fact that it's not a free dining period are both helping.
Only 68 days to go!!
