If you book a new cruise on board, you get a 10% discount for category 11B and above, pay only half the deposit and get an OBC. I know for cruises 7 nights or longer it is $200 for Silver Castaway Club members, $275 for Gold Castaway Club members and $350 for Platinum Castaway Club members. I know the OBC for 3, 4 and 5 night cruises is less, but I am not sure how much this would be. If the same stateroom is available, then you can select it when booking on board.

We booked two while on board this last week, I really like the OBC, and they will give us a Friends and Family certificate to get others to book with us.

But I was on RCI

The last few times that I rebooked on board DCL, we got a Friends and Family certificate as well. We are hoping to book three cruises this time round.

Thanks so much for the info! You're looking at a nice OBC booking three cruises! Just this minute I thought of something. Do they put the credit on the future cruise or the one you are on when we rebook? I'm hoping it's the future one.

You're pretty close to becoming Platinum I think right? The extra tours they offer look so neat.

Oooh! Which ones are in the future now?

And $100 deposit is magnificent!

You got me beat... The best part was I got it for $100 deposit on each..

I think our deposit will be somewhat higher. I am after a Western Caribbean cruise out of Galveston over my birthday this year and a back to back Pacific repo and Alaskan cruise for May next year.

Future cruises... It is based on the number of nights, so if you change your OBC changes also.

That is good news. I was worried for a moment. I could use it much better on the future cruises for shore excursions. This trip we're just planning to take it all in and see what cruising is all about. I'm sure I'll spend more than anticipated though, money seems to fly out of my wallet on vacation with very little problem.

After our on board credit for this past cruise, it cost $21 when we got off the ship.

That is all we spent.

But, BUT, we did not do any excursions, we were just relaxing and recovering...

I have never stepped off a ship with only spending $21 out of pocket..

So you guys think if we joined the Castaway Club in 2001, but we haven't been on a cruise since, do you think we're still members or would we have to start over again?

You get the OBC on the future cruise. That way if you decided to cancel the cruise, the cruise line does not end up being out of pocket.

If everything goes according to plan, the Alaska cruise will be our first cruise as Platinum Castaways. However, as this is the second half of a back to back cruise, we won't get the full benefits then. I will still only be able to make my reservations with the Gold members and I won't get the perk of checking in with the concierge guests. I will however get the higher OBC, the free Palo dinner and the special tour. I am not sure what they will be offering as the special tour. I know that on the East Coast cruises, they were offering in tour of the animal programme at Castaway Cay.

Feb 2013, 12 days Caribbean
Nov 2013, 17 days Spain to Florida

Really looking forward to warm weather.

That sounds great. We did a Westbound Transatlantic in 2010 and had a wonderful time. What ports will you be visiting?

As far as I know, once you become a member, you always will stay a member.
